The army said troops found Salomi Pugo in the remote Pulka region of Borno state near the Cameroon border, without giving further details. An Afghan official says the Taliban have shot and killed three people in western Farah province. Mohammad Naser Mehri, spokesman for the provincial governor, says the attack unfolded when a group of Taliban fighters stopped a bus travelling in the Bala Buluk district today. The Taliban searched the bus and spotted three members of the Afghan security forces. The insurgents then seized the three, took them of the bus and killed them, leaving their bodies by the road. Mheri says the authorities have deployed security forces to patrol the highway around the clock for the safety of travelers. In an exchange of fire with police, a notorious robber, who was carrying a bounty of Rs 50,000 on his head, was killed today, the police said. The robber along with an accomplice had looted Rs 10.60 lakh at Syana road locality here yesterday, SSP Muniraj said. A police team intercepted both the accused at Walipura Canal here, the SSP said, adding they started firing at the team. In an exchange of fire, one of the robbers-- Satvir-- was killed, but the other managed to flee from the spot. Over 30 policemen sustained injuries in the city yesterday during the protest called by various Dalit groups, a senior police official said today. Most of the injuries were a result of stones pelted on police personnel, said an official. He added that Powai and Govandi in the north-eastern part of the city saw the maximum number of cases with 11 policemen sustaining injuries in areas around Powai. Deputy Commissioner of Police Sahaji Umap of Zone VI said that 11 personnel were injured in Govandi and adjoining areas. Police officials said that 16 First Information Reports (FIR) had been registered under relevant sections of the Maharashtra Police Act, the Maharashtra Prevention of Defacement of Property Act and the Indian Penal Code. An official said that more than 300 people had been detained as part of the investigations into the incidents that occurred during the protests.
