The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a plea seeking direction for registering of a case against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for an alleged objectionable speech during an election campaign in Rajasthan's Alwar in 2018. A bench of Justices B R Gavai and Vikram Nath said it was not inclined to interfere in the matter. "Such litigations are only for page 1 (of newspapers). Dismissed," the bench said. The Uttar Pradesh government has launched a statewide 100-day 'UP Global City' campaign to make urban bodies of the state on par with global standards, an official release said on Sunday. The campaign was launched by Urban Development Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma on Saturday. "The campaign, launched in all 762 urban bodies of the state, looks at improving cleanliness and air quality, ensuring proper garbage disposal, beautification and installation of adequate signages on roads, among others, to make the urban system of the state on par with global standards," the release said. During the campaign, work on increasing urban facilities and beautifying the cities will be done on a war footing in all the districts of the state. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said power subsidy should be provided to looms for boosting the economic growth of over 2.5 lakh weavers in the state. The power corporation should make arrangements to provide subsidy to weavers for improving productivity. This will also prevent electricity theft, the chief minister was quoted as saying in an official statement. While reviewing a presentation regarding the MSME Weaver Scheme, Adityanath had a detailed discussion with officials on the consumption of electricity and the subsidy provided to the sector.
