Birbhum, Apr 17 (ANI): At least three people were injured after a clash between Trinamool Congress (TMC), Communist Party of India Marxist CPI (M) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers broke out near a polling station in Birbhum during the ongoing second phase of West Bengal polls. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. Polling for 56 constituencies in the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections began on Sunday amidst high security, including adequate deployment of Central paramilitary forces.

Voters queued up outside polling booths in Malda to cast votes for the second phase of West Bengal elections. People were seen waiting outside polling stations in Siliguri and Birbhum districts also to cast their votes. Voting at two polling stations in Malda was delayed by 20 minutes due to technical problem in EVM. Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Abu Naser Khan Chowdhury also casted his vote in Malda. A total of 383 candidates, including 29 women, are in the fray in this phase. More than 13 thousand 600 polling stations have been put up including 311 model booths. Besides the general and Police observers, 1563 micro observers will keep watch during the polling today.
Jamuria (West Bengal), Apr 11 (ANI): Five people were injured after a clash broke out between the workers of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Trinamool Congress in Jamuria's Burdwan district of West Bengal, where polling is currently underway for the second part of the assembly polls. Out of the five injured, one is said to be critical. Meanwhile, voters were seen queuing up in long lines from the wee hours, showing their eagerness to cast their votes in the state, which is undergoing polls for its 31 constituencies in the polls.
Asansol (Assam), Apr 11 (ANI): Voting for the second and the final phase of the Assam assembly elections is underway. 61 seats will go to polls in this phase today. Voters were seen queuing up in long lines from the wee hours of 4:30 a.m., showing their eagerness to cast their votes. Women were seen dancing and celebrating after casting their vote at a polling booth in Kokrajhar district. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called on the voters from both Assam and West Bengal to cast their votes in large numbers.
Chenga(Assam), Apr 09 (ANI): Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday assured the residents of Assam that all-round development will be delivered in the state if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is voted to power. He further said the BJP-led NDA government will seal the Bangladesh-Assam border in order to bring down the number of migrants from the neighbouring country. Singh was addressing a rally at Chenga in Assam's Barpeta district. The state will vote for the second phase of assembly polls on April 11 and the results will be announced on May 19.
Guwahati, Apr 09 (ANI): Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) spokesperson Pramod Swami resigned from the party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday. The resignation comes two days ahead of the second phase of the elections to the 126-member Assam Legislative Assembly. The first phase of the elections was held April 4 while the second has been scheduled for April 11. Former Congress leader said that he didn't leave the party as he was denied ticket for the constituency ticket or he has any grudges against any leader.
Kamalpur (Assam), Apr 08 (ANI): Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Friday promised cold storage facility and insurance to famers if voted to power in Assam. Rahul, who was addressing a rally in Kamalpur, attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for sidelining the common people and benefitting the money garnered from the decrease in petrol prices to his three-four corporate friends. Rahul accused BJP of creating unrest among people during their tenure, adding that no development can take place without peace.
Roha (Assam), Apr 08 (ANI): Emphasising that with the start of Hindu New Year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the people of Assam will also witness new government in the state by voting Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to power. Addressing a rally in the Roha city of the poll-bound Assam, he urged people vote for the saffron party. The state will vote in the second and final phase of assembly elections on Monday.
West Midnapur (WB), Apr 06 (ANI): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday alleged that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) failed to fulfill the aspirations of the people of West Bengal and urged the electorate to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for better facilities and development in the state. Addressing a rally in West Midnapur in West Bengal, he questioned the Mamta government for not providing proper roads, hospital for treatment, proper education and electricity. The polling for the second phase in the state will be held on April 17, the third phase on April 21, fourth on April 25 and the fifth and six phases on April 30 and May 5, respectively. The counting of votes will take place on May 19.
Nalbari, Apr 05 (ANI): Bharatiya janata Party chief, Amit Shah, on Tuesday accused opposition Congress party of playing vote bank politics by letting Bangladeshis infiltrate the northeastern Assam state. Shah made the remarks while addressing a public rally in the state ahead of the second phase of assembly elections on April 11. Shah said Bangladeshis were polluting Assam's tradition. Tarun Gogoi of the Congress is the chief minister of Assam. Shah took a dig at the president of India's opposition Congress party, Sonia Gandhi, saying that she and Gogoi could not stop Bangladeshi infiltration. Shah added if his party won, they would find a permanent solution to this issue.
Dibrugarh (Assam), Apr 04 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) chief ministerial candidate Sarbananda Sonowal casted his vote at a polling booth in Dibrugarh in the first phase of the Assam assembly polls on Monday. Sonowal said what matters the most is the opinion of people of Assam, adding that Congress's tenure in the state was a failure. The first of the two-phase Assam assembly polls began today with the poll percentage of 66.95 till 3p.m.
Goalpara (Assam), Apr 04 (ANI): Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Monday praised Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi for the upliftment of women in the state. Campaigning for the second and last phase of elections in Goalpara district, Rahul Gandhi said Gogoi has always worked for poor in the state. New Delhi, Apr 04 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday urged voters in Assam and West Bengal to vote in large numbers. Prime Minister Modi tweeted, "Urging all those voting in West Bengal and Assam today to vote in large numbers. Young friends in particular must exercise their franchise." The first phase of polling in West Bengal on Monday witnessed 31 percent of the electorate casting their votes till 11 a.m. while a 19 percent voter turnout was recorded in Assam.

Wildlife experts said the destruction of habitats in the country is one of the main reasons for the increase in encounters between wild animals and villagers. Kulti (West Bengal), Apr 02 (ANI): Addressing a rally in the poll-bound West Bengal, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday targeted Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her government for negligence in connection to the recentKolkata flyover mishap. At least 26 people have lost their lives and hundred others have been injured in the collapse that took place on March 31 in Kolkata's Girish Park area. The state will caste vote for 294 assembly seats which will be held in six phases starting from April 4 to May 5.
