Bhopal, March 31 (ANI): Election commissioner of India, Syed Nasim Ahmad Zaidi informed that critical polling stations will be covered by one central paramilitary force adequately. Addressing a news conference in Bhopal, Zaidi divulged details of security on important polling booths. Steps have also been taken to ensure that the model code of conduct is strictly followed and funds are also not misused. Surveillance teams, check posts have been installed to check the unauthorised distribution of cash, liquor or drugs.
Kerala/ New Delhi, March 31 (ANI): Defence Minister AK Antony said that he was confident that Congress-led UPA would try to form a secular government after elections with likeminded allies, while addressing a rally in Kasargod district of Kerala. Meanwhile reacting on Antony's statement, BJP spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi took a jibe at the Congress party.
New Delhi, March 31 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee said people would no longer tolerate non-transparent and unresponsive administration, while inaugurating diamond jubilee celebrations of Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) in New Delhi. Mukherjee said democracy is the soul and the core of nation-building and no meaningful growth or governance could be achieved without the preservation and nurturing of basic grid of polity. Mukherjee further stressed that good governance encompasses rule of law, participatory decision-making structure, transparency, accountability, responsiveness, equity and inclusiveness as the country's governance has to run on these principles.

The poling authorities are being more cautious this time as the area has the history of witnessing Maoist attacks in the last elections which had taken place in the year 2009. Chief electoral officer (CEO), Mona Sharma on Saturday said the copters are likely to reach a couple of days before polling day. This time special emphasis has been on preventing the recurrence of incidents of burning and snatching of electronic voting machines by Maoists from polling booths which had taken place in the last general elections.

Akola, March 30 (ANI): BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Sunday, while addressing a rally in Akola district of Maharashtra paid heed to the plight of state's cotton farmers and asked Sharad Pawar on why the cotton exports were stopped. He said that this move by the central government has incurred loss on the Gujarat as well as farmers of other states. Modi further said that the government also started subsidized export of meat, which can prove fatal for the animal reserves of the nation.

Akbar said when something like riots take place, then one naturally raises some questions and being a journalist he did his job. Akbar also added that people should leave the past behind, move forward and concentrate on upcoming general elections and next 10 years.

Barmer, March 24 (ANI): Defiant Senior BJP leader Jaswant Singh on Monday filed his nomination papers from Barmer constituency in Rajasthan. Earlier, he asserted that he is "not a piece of furniture" to be "adjusted" after polls. Singh, however, said he would not switch loyalties and join the Congress party and said that the decision on resigning from BJP will be taken after consulting the party leaders.
