New Delhi, May 5 (ANI): BJP leader Amit Shah's controversial statement on Azamgarh has once again invited political reactions. Shah while campaigning for BJP candidate Ramakant Yadav in Azamgarh had said that the city has become a 'Base of Terrorists'. Congress leader Rashid Alvi condemned the statement and said that Shah is bent upon insulting Azamgarh. NCP leader Tariq Anwar also condemned the statement and said that EC should take strict action against such leaders. Meanwhile, former SP leader Shahid Siddiqui stated that the people of Azamgarh will respond to Shah's statement through their votes. Rajya Sabha MP Mohd Adeeb also condemned the statement terming it shameful on Amit Shah's part to have said so. On the other hand, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy defended Shah saying that he did not say anything against Azamgarh.
Guwahati, May 5 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said the need of the hour was to maintain strict vigil and beef up security after 31 people were gunned down in three days by tribal militants who resent the presence of immigrants from neighboring Bangladesh. Gogoi said that more forces would be deployed and the area would be put under high surveillance. Police said that death toll after the Assam attacks now stood at 32 after they found another body in the state's Baksa district, where some of the attacks took place. While addressing a news conference in Guwahati, Maulana Mahmood Madani of the Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind, largest body of Sunni Muslim clerics, said both the Central and State governments were responsible for the negligence that led to deadly violence. Madani said the miscreants were roaming free and quick action was required to catch hold of such criminals.
Varanasi, May 04 (ANI): Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid said that BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has no vision for India, as the world's largest democracy will choose its next Prime Minister just after a fortnight. Khurshid said on Sunday that though Modi seeks to find flaws in the governance system of ruling Congress, but he has failed to establish his vision for India. He also ridiculed the Gujarat development model often cited by Modi to claim a promising change in India if the party is voted to power.
New Delhi, May 04 (ANI): Former SP leader, Shahid Siddiqui on Sunday said that Assam chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and the Congress is responsible for what is happening in Assam adding that the government is encouraging such terror activities. Security forces found the bodies of nine Muslims in Assam on Saturday, raising the death toll to 31 in a spate of attacks by suspected tribal militants as a week-long general election re-kindled ethnic division.
Bankura, May 04 (ANI): BJP's Prime Ministerial Candidate Narendra Modi on Sunday, while addressing a rally in Bankura district of West Bengal said that opposition parties were protecting Bangladeshi infiltrators for their vote bank politics. Modi alleged that ruling Congress party, Communist parties and chief minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee were more concerned about Bangladeshi immigrants than youth of the country. He also hit out at Banerjee for calling him a paper tiger. He also pointed that West Bengal's record of crimes against women was abysmal.
Amethi, May 04 (ANI): UP BJP President Laxmikant Bajpai on Sunday confirmed that Narendra Modi will campaign for party candidate Smriti Irani in Amethi and will hold a rally in the constituency on May 05. He said that there will be more developments in Amethi under Irani than what has happened until now with Congress in power. Bajpai also said that Congress hardly worked for the region and that inspite of being MP from Amethi, Gandhi never raised the issues relating to the area in the Parliament.

New Delhi, May 03 (ANI): BJP delegates on Saturday went to Election Commission to complain against Congress President Rahul Gandhi for his 'highly provocative' speech. BJP leader Ananth Kumar said that Gandhi gave out a statement while addressing a rally in Solan wherein he said that if Narendra Modi becomes Prime Minister there would be massacre of 22,000 people. Lucknow/ Patna, May 03 (ANI): Congress leaders Beni Prasad Verma's indirect attack on Modi has invited BJP's reaction. Verma has indirectly slammed Modi for the various riots in Gujarat pointing out that no one was punished in any of the crimes. Thereafter BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said that Beni Prasad has casually ignored Verma's statement saying that he has a loudspeaker for tongue which spills only abuses when open. New Delhi, May 03 (ANI): IandB Minister Manish Tewari on Saturday refuted all claims of the ministry limiting the autonomy of Prasar Bharti. Tewari said that the autonomy of the Prasar Bharti is guaranteed by an act of the Parliament and that the IandB Ministry has an arms length relationship with the organization. He also said that it was on his initiative that Sam Pitroda committee was constituted and one of its terms was looking at government- Prasar Bharti relation. Further, on Narendra Modi's claims of freedom of press in India, Tewari said that the ministry too is concerned about the same in Gujarat and will like to look into the matter.
New Delhi/ Lucknow/ Sultanpur, May 3 (ANI): Politicos on Saturday reacted to Prasar Bharati's CEO Jawhar Sircar acknowledgement that certain portions of Narendra Modi's interview "were apparently edited" while indirectly pointing at IandB minister Manish Tewari for failing to give the public broadcaster the autonomy it has sought. Sircar claimed that 'the shadow of government' hurts the credibility.
