Male (Maldives), June 07 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be embarking on a two-day official visit to the Maldives and Sri Lanka tomorrow. This would be his first visit abroad after his re-election. In the first leg of his two-nation tour, PM will reach Male where he is scheduled to hold discussions on a range of subjects, including deepening economic, political and strategic relations. He will address the Maldivian Parliament, besides meeting all key leaders of the island nation including President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. While speaking to ANI on PM Narendra Modi's visit, Ambassador of India to Maldives Sunjay Sudhir said, "It is a historic visit, all preparations are in place, it's an honour for us that PM's visit has been accorded status of state visit which is usually reserved for heads of state, in our case they made an exception."
Umaria (MP), June 07 (ANI): In Madhya Pradesh's Umaria, District Collector sets an example of humanity as he removes air conditioners from his office and installed it in Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres (NRC) to save children from heat wave. There are 4 NRCs in the block and district administration has installed ACs in all of them from their office. District Collector of Umaria, Swarochish Somavanshi said, "It was a spontaneous decision. It was really hot inside Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres' (NRC) building. We were arranging air conditioners but we felt it needed to be installed immediately as there were children."
Sukma (Chhattisgarh), June 07 (ANI): A surrendered Naxal commander created awareness among tribals on the occasion of World Environment Day in Chhattisgarh's Sukma District. Arjun was a wanted in connection with different Naxal-related activities. He was seen dancing with tribals in Dornapal area of Sukma District on the occasion of World Environment Day on June 05. He killed around 31 police personnel and surrendered before police in Sukma on March 8. Arjun was carrying a reward of Rs 8 lakh on his head. He was in-charge of South Bastar division, which is a cultural wing of the Maoists. In 2001, he was appointed as the member of the banned CPI (Maoist). Arjun's wife has also surrendered in Dantewada, few months ago.
Gurugram (Haryana), June 07 (ANI): Cricketer Virat Kohli has been fined by the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) for washing car with the drinking water. They have issued challan to Virat Kohli's domestic help staff for using drinking water in Gurugram. Kohli resides in DLF Phase-I in Gurugram and has six to seven cars in total including 2 SUVs at his residence. Complaints regarding the wastage of drinking water for washing cars and other purposes have already been received by MCG in past.
Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh), June 07 (ANI): Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy called on Yuvajana Sramika Raithu Congress Party (YSRCP) legislative party meeting in AP's Amaravati on Friday. The meeting was attended by all the elected party MLAs at Reddy's camp office in Tadepalli. All the 150 MLAs of the YSRCP are present in the meeting. In the Andhra Pradesh Assembly election, Reddy's YSRCP got an absolute majority by winning 151 out of 175 seats.
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), June 07 (ANI): Locals celebrated 'Mango Festival' in MP's Bhopal on Friday. The festival has been organised by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). The best varieties of mangoes grown in different parts of the state would be displayed for sale in the festival. 'Mango Festival' will conclude on June 8.
New Delhi, June 07 (ANI): While speaking to ANI on making Sanskrit as India's official language as said by the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) Chairman Nand Kumar Sai, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor reacted on it, saying, "Sanskrit is a wonderful language but it is not easy language and is not currently spoken by most, so it would be a bit of stretch to suddenly turn Sanskrit into an official language, not a realistic request."
Srinagar (J-K), June 07 (ANI): Kashmiri martial artists will participate in the 2nd edition of India Open International Taekwondo Championship. At least 16 Kashmiri players, both boys and girls will participate in the championship. The event will start from June 11 to 16 in Hyderabad. 25 countries including Australia, America, Japan and Korea will participate in the game. It is the second time, the event is happening in India. 2nd edition of India Open International Taekwondo Championship is organised by Taekwondo Federation of India.
Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh), June 07 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inspect the developmental work in Ayodhya during his visit today. He is also expected to unveil a seven-foot tall statue of Lord Ram at the 'Shodh Sansthan' museum. This statue is fashioned out of a single rosewood block and is from Karnataka. Yogi Adityanath will visit Ram ki Paidi and will see the under-construction prayer place in Ayodhya. His visit to Ayodhya was announced a day after the Shiv Sena's media cell stated on June 5 that the party's chief, Uddhav Thackeray will visit Ayodhya later this month.
Indore (Madhya Pradesh), June 07 (ANI): A 50-year-old nurse was stabbed to death allegedly by a patient at a clinic in Tukoganj area of Indore on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Lata Verma. According to the relatives, the reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained. According to the nurse's brother Raju, her son Abhishek Verma was also injured, while trying to save his mother from the attack. He has been admitted to the hospital. Speaking to ANI, Superintendent of Police (SP) Yusuf Qureshi said, "Accused has been arrested, the knife that was used for the stabbing has also been recovered. Further investigation in the matter is underway."
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), June 07 (ANI): A massive fire broke at Lakkar Market in HP's Shimla on Thursday night. The fire tenders reached to the spot. They started fire fighting operations and within an hour controlled the fire. No injuries have been reported so far. The reason of fire is yet to be ascertained.
Chittoor (Andhra Pradesh), June 07 (ANI): Five dead and three got injured in a road accident in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor on Friday. A car rammed into a lorry on a highway near Renigunta Mandal. The incident took place around 5 am. Local police reached to the spot. Further investigation is underway.
Jaipur (Rajasthan), June 07 (ANI): Rajasthan Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Madan Lal Saini on Thursday claimed that Mughal Emperor Akbar set up Meena Bazaar and used go there in "disguise and do misdeeds." While addressing an event in Jaipur, Madan Lal Saini said, "Akbar had set up Meena Bazaar. Women used to do all the work there and men were not allowed. The way Akbar used to go there in disguise and do misdeeds, it is recorded in history." "Akbar wanted to molest Kiran Devi but she was alert, she slammed him on the ground and put a dagger on his chest. Akbar had begged for his life saying, 'Baadshah of Hindustan is below your feet'. After this incident, Meena Bazaar was closed down," he added. Saini was speaking on the occasion of Maharana Pratap Jayanti.
Uttarkashi (Uttarakhand), June 07 (ANI): Priests at the Yamunotri Temple in Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi covered donation boxes with clothes. They have alleged non-payment of their salaries. They have covered the boxes to avail benefit from the money donated. While speaking to ANI, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Barkot, Anurag Arya said, "We have received few photographs and video footages in which donation boxes can be seen covered with clothes, First Information Report (FIR) is registered and action will be taken in this regard."
Gaya (Bihar), Jun 07 (ANI): Due to scorching heat, 'Mahayagya' was performed for rain in Bihar's Gaya on Friday. Locals and priests came together to perform the 'puja'. The 'Mahayagya' will last for 10 days. One of the priests said, "We are doing 'Mahayagya' to please the God Indra, so that we receive good rain. Rain is also our source for food that's why we are doing this 'puja'."
Mumbai, June 07 (ANI): A local cricketer was stabbed to death by three unknown assailants in Mumbai on Thursday night. The victim was identified as Rakesh Panwar. The incident happened in Bhandup area. Police investigation is underway.
Balasore (Odisha), June 07 (ANI): The dead body of an infant was found dumped in Odisha's Balasore on Thursday. The body was found near Soro community health centre in Balasore district. While speaking to media on this case, the Investigating Officer said, "A report will be prepared by the doctors on what happened to the infant and a case of unnatural death has been registered."
New Delhi, June 07 (ANI): A man, who was accused in a smuggling case died in police custody at Nand Nagri Police Station in Delhi on Thursday. His relatives claimed that Govinda was allegedly beaten to death in the police custody. While speaking to media in the national capital, Reshma, relative of the deceased said, "If he was ill, why the police didn't tell us? Why are they telling us now when he is dead? He was been beaten up and killed by the police."
Anantnag (J-K), Jun 07 (ANI): A Territorial Army soldier was shot dead by terrorists in J-K's Anantnag on Thursday. He was identified as Manzoor Ahmad Baig. The incident happened in Sadoora village. Further investigation is underway.
Bhopal (MP), June 07 (ANI): The Bada Talab in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal has reached a dead storage level with cracks in the water bed, which is prominently appearing. Because of the drying up of lakes, people were able to walk on the bed of the lake. Built in the 11th century by King Bhoj during his tenure as the King of Malwa, Bhojtal, also known as the Upper Lake is the primary source of drinking water for the residents of Bhopal. While speaking to ANI, one of the locals said, "Whenever we had come here, this lake was always full of water. We have never seen it dried up like this. We were trying to go to the 'dargah' but because of the mud, we weren't able to go. This shouldn't have dried up like this as it's was the beauty of Bhopal." Another local said, "We had never expected that we would be able to walk like this on the lake."
