Gorakhpur (UP), May 23 (ANI): Actor-turned politician Ravi Kishan offered prayers ahead of counting of votes on Thursday. He is Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) candidate from Gorakhpur Lok Sabha seat. Lok Sabha election 2019 results will be announced today. Counting of votes for will begin at 8 am across the country.
Amarnath (JandK), May 23 (ANI): The Amarnath Yatra, a Hindu pilgrimage, this year will begin from July 01 and will continue till August 15 for 46 days. Amarnath cave is situated at an altitude of almost 4000 meters from Srinagar. To ensure safety of pilgrims, JandK Governor Satya Pal Malik reviewed security arrangements.
Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir), May 23 (ANI): In a major counter insurgency operation, Jammu and Kashmir (JandK) Police on Wednesday busted a hideout of terrorists in Chatyari forest area of Rajouri district and recovered a stockpile of weapons. The seized ammunition included four automatic assault rifles, four AK rifles, 11 pistols and sets of magazines. Calling it a huge achievement for the security agencies, Rajouri SSP Yougal Manhas said that the removing such a stockpile of weapons from circulation would help the forces in limiting future attacks.
New Delhi, May 23 (ANI): Children in poor urban areas who suffered physical and emotional neglect, violence, and sexual abuse are likely to be associated with both adolescent depression and violent behaviour, highlights a new study. The study was published in the Journal of Adolescent Health. The study incorporated ACEs suffered by 1,284 adolescents aged 10 to 14 in 14 "low-income urban settings" around the world. It found remarkably common experiences with trauma--and very similar impacts--regardless of where the children lived. The study found that 46% of young adolescents reported experiencing violence, 38% suffered emotional neglect and 29% experienced physical neglect.
Shillong (Meghalaya), May 23 (ANI): Assam Rifles and Indian Coast Guard on Wednesday signed the 'Charter of Affiliation' in Shillong to use each other's assets for operational training, sports and adventure. While Assam Rifles is the oldest paramilitary force in the country and the Indian Coast Guard is the youngest armed force, both the forces guard country's borders. Assam Rifles guards the Indo-Myanmar Border, whereas Indian Coast Guard protects the coastal frontiers.
Kondagaon (Chhattisgarh), May 23 (ANI): A CRPF jawan, who was deployed at an EVM strong room in Chhattisgarh's Kondagaon, died of a heart attack. The deceased jawan, B Satish Kumar, had been deployed at Kondagaon, an assembly constituency part of Bastar Lok Sabha seat. Chhattisgarh which has 11 Lok Sabha seats had concluded polling in the first three phases of voting.
Patna (Bihar), May 23 (ANI): A day after Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) chief Upendra Kushwaha warned of bloodshed if EVMs were found to be manipulated, Bihar's Additional General of Police (ADG) Kundan Krishnan informed that even as the Election Commission has taken cognizance of the matter, if there would be any violence reported due to Kushwaha's statement, then he would be held responsible for the same. Speaking on the incident where an independent LS candidate from Buxar brandished a gun during a press conference, Krishnan said orders has been given to investigate whether the gun was licensed, and if found to be otherwise then appropriate action will be taken which includes the holder's arrest. EC has taken cognizance of this matter as well.
Agartala (Tripura), May 23 (ANI): Tripura Health Minister Sudip Roy Barman on Wednesday caught a government doctor red-handed conducting illegal abortion at the labour room of a state-run health centre in Santribazar town. An FIR has been registered against the doctor identified as Dr. Ajay Biswas. Speaking on the matter, Barman told ANI, "Yesterday, I received information that abortions are done in the hospital in lieu of money. So other officers and me rushed there today and caught the doctor red-handed. It is a violation of medical termination of pregnancy protocol and a serious offense."
New Delhi, May 23 (ANI): YouTube announced that it is introducing a major change to how it publicly shows the subscriber count on channels. Starting August 2019, YouTube will start showing the abbreviated subscriber number across all desktop and mobile apps for channels with more than 1,000 subscribers. Those with fewer subscribers will be shown non-abbreviated count; for instance, the abbreviated count will be shown as 133k and in some places, it will display the full count, e.g., 133,017. Third-parties using YouTube API services will also access the same public-facing counts you see on YouTube. Meanwhile, creators will be able to see the exact number in YouTube Studio.
Mathura (Uttar Pradesh), May 23 (ANI): Locals of Ading village in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura tonsured the head of man whom they accused of not paying back the money he had loaned. The man was later tied to a pole. Police has taken the cognizance of the matter and took the man in question in custody, and assured of registered FIR against those found to be involved.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), May 22 (ANI): Ahead of the declaration of Lok Sabha elections results, while speaking to ANI in Bhopal today, Former chief election commissioner (CEC) OP Rawat said, "Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) can't be tampered with. EVM security protocol is so strict whenever a strong room has to be opened, representatives of all political parties have to be there, machines are taken out in their presence, mock poll is also conducted." "In fact when making EVM ready for the polling, a mock poll is again conducted at polling station where all the polling agents are asked to vote and then count, so all these arrangements ensure that EVMs can't be tampered with," Rawat added.
Bhopal (MP), May 22 (ANI): Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday slammed Opposition parties over ongoing Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) row. He said that the Opposition parties know that they are not wining the Lok Sabha elections and that is why they are blaming the EVMs. Giving the example of his defeat in the recent election, the former MP CM added that he didn't blamed EVMs for his defeat rather he accepted that the party was defeated because of him. "It takes courage to accept our defeat and they (Opposition) don't have the courage so the better to blame EVM," added Chouhan.

They have been identified as Zahid Mantoo of Shopian and Irfan Ahmad Bhat of Kulgam. Both belong to Hizbul Mujahideen. Huge quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives were recovered."
New Delhi, May 22 (ANI): A 22-year-old man murdered his father in a fit of rage, the police said. The accused after killing his father, chopped off the latter's body and disposed it off. The incident took place in Delhi's Shahdara. "The body was chopped off and packed in 5-6 bags. The family members did not have good terms among themselves. We started having a doubt on Tuesday, when they did not open their shop and got to know about the incident on Tuesday night", informed a local. The accused took the extreme step as his father used to often scold him. He has been apprehended along with his friend for being an accomplice in the crime. Further investigation is underway.
