Actor Vivek Oberoi on Monday faced the wrath of social media users including Bollywood actor Sonam Kapoor and DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal for sharing a "distasteful" and "crass" meme targeting Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's relationships. Oberoi, who reportedly dated the actor-former Miss World in early 2000s, posted a meme featuring her with husband Abhishek, daughter Aaradhya and Salman Khan. The meme was a take on the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the results of which will be declared on Thursday.

Lokayukta team raids premises of Asst Commercial Tax Officer in Indore

Indore (MP), May 21 (ANI): Indore Lokayukta police conducted raids at two premises and a farm house of Assistant Commercial Tax Officer, Komal Bali today. Atleast Rs 49,000 in cash, 2 kg gold and luxury vehicles were recovered by the Lokayukta police from Komal Bali's residence. The case has been registered in this regard and investigation is underway.

Dietary cholesterol or egg consumption do not increase the risk of stroke: Study

New Delhi, May 21 (ANI): Consuming up to one egg per day or moderately high intake of dietary cholesterol does not increase the risk of stroke, according to a study from the University of Eastern Finland. Furthermore, no association was found in carriers of the APOE4 phenotype, which affects cholesterol metabolism. The study was published in the 'American Journal of Clinical Nutrition'. The dietary habits of 1,950 men aged between 42 and 60 years with no baseline diagnosis of cardiovascular disease were assessed at the onset the Kuopio Ischaemic Heart Disease Risk Factor Study, KIHD, in 1984-1989 at the University of Eastern Finland. APOE phenotype data were available for 1,015 of the men participating in the study. Of those, 32 per cent were known carriers of APOE4. During a follow-up of 21 years, 217 men were diagnosed with a stroke. The study found that neither dietary cholesterol nor egg consumption was associated with the risk of stroke - not even in carriers of APOE4.

Democracy succeeded in India due to 'perfect conduct' of polls by EC: Pranab Mukherjee

New Delhi, May 21 (ANI): Even as opposition partied continue to accuse the Election Commission of bias for the ruling party amid many controversies during the Lok Sabha elections, former president Pranab Mukherjee on Monday appreciated the way the poll body has conducted elections, and said if the democracy succeeded in country, it is largely due to the "perfect conduct" of polls by Election Commissioners since 1952 to present. "If we want to strengthen institutions we've to keep in mind institutions are serving well in this country and if democracy has succeeded, it's largely due to perfect conduct of elections by Election Commissioner starting from Sukumar Sen to present Election Commissioner," Mukherjee said in the national capital during a book launch.

Indian Army presents scholarships to J-K students

Udhampur (J-K), May 20 (ANI): Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command of Indian Army on Monday presented financial aid to 71 students from Below Poverty Line (BPL) category.
