LS polls: 'BJP, Nitish ki halat patli', says Tejashwi Yadav

Patna (Bihar), Apr 12 (ANI): Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav slammed both Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday. While talking to the mediapersons, Yadav said that BJP now doubts on the capabilities of Nitish Kumar and the party is internally confused. Answering the question on Nitish Kumar continuously targeting his family, the former Bihar deputy chief minister said that Bihar CM is doing nothing on Srijan scam and Muzaffarpur shelter home scandal and other issues. Voting started for 91 constituencies in the 1st phase of 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

SC directs parties to give details of donations received via electoral bond, informs Prashant Bhushan

New Delhi, Apr 12 (ANI): The Supreme Court of India delivered its verdict on a plea challenging the validity of electoral bonds. Senior Advocate Prashant Bhushan addressed mediapersons after the verdict. He said, "Today the Supreme Court has passed an interim order on the electoral bond, holding that the parties, who have received electoral bonds till now and in future will have to provide complete information about the donors to the Election Commission. Therefore, the anonymity of the donor will atleast be gone to the Election Commission. In this case, almost all the electoral bonds of about Rs 2000 crore have been received by only one party i.e., Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). So, now the BJP has to disclose, who gave them bond of such big amount. Now mystery will open up as to who are these companies and what kind of benefits have these companies received at the hands of BJP government. So, it is an important step towards transparency." EsselWorld launches India's first foreign interactive bird park in Mumbai

Mumbai, Apr 12 (ANI): India's first foreign interactive and exotic world park was inaugurated by EsselWorld in Mumbai on Thursday. Bird lovers are up for a treat with this interactive bird park in Gorai area of Mumbai. The rain forest themed park is spread across 1.4 acres and is home to over 500 exotic birds from more than 60 species. This park is equipped with small ponds for aquatic birds, dense cover of trees for birds to incubate their eggs and a water stream that offers drinking water to birds. It also houses a special birds' kitchen and healthcare centre. Some of the key attractions in the park are African Grey Parrot, Blue Gold Macaw, Cockatiel and Rainbow Lorikeet among others.

Congress takes jibe at Smriti Irani's educational qualification

New Delhi, Apr 12 (ANI): A day after Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani filed her nomination from Amethi, Congress' national spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi, took a jibe at Irani's educational qualification on Friday. Chaturvedi, said. "A new serial is going to come, 'Kyunki Mantri Bhi Kabhi Graduate Thi' and its opening line will be 'Qualifications ke bhi roop badalte hain, naye-naye sanche mein dhalte hain, ek degree aati hai, ek degree jaati hai, bante affidavit naye hain'. With her education qualifications, Smriti Irani ji has proved how one can become 12 th pass from a graduate. And this is possible by Modi government and in Modi government." Salman Khan treats his fans with fresh still from 'Dabangg 3'

New Delhi, Apr 12 (ANI): While fans are eagerly waiting to see Salman Khan as Chulbul Pandey in 'Dabangg 3', the actor is making sure to keep the audiences on their toes by sharing stills and behind-the-scene pictures from the film's sets. Salman recently wrapped up the Maheshwar schedule of the film and treated his fans with a fresh still. He took to Twitter to announce the schedule wrap along with a picture of him dressed as the film's protagonist Chulbul Pandey. Rameswaram (TN), Apr 12 (ANI): More than 3,000 people form a human chain in Tamil Nadu's Rameswaram to create election awareness. The chain was formed at Pamban Bridge for 100% voter turnout in Ramanathapuram Lok Sabha constituency. The bridge spans a 2.065 km strait between the Indian mainland and Pamban Island. American woman searching for accommodation in Gujarat with 14 pets

Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Apr 12 (ANI): An American woman travelling with her 14 pets is looking for accommodation in the state of Gujarat. She is currently staying at Hotel Silver Spring in Ahmedabad with her six puppies, one female dog, six cats and one goat. United States of America (US) tourist called the police after hotel asked her to leave with her 14 pets. Pets have now become a problem for her and also for the hotel authorities. Customers have complained of nuisance and foul smell due to the presence of animals. She came to the hotel on April 9 around 3:00 am. Speaking to ANI on this matter, Manager of the hotel said, "She arrived in the hotel on April 9 with 6 cats, 7 dogs and a goat. We asked her to leave as we don't allow pets. She said she won't leave the hotel as she has booked it till April 11 and called the police."

Electoral Bonds: The controversy explained in 60 seconds

The Supreme Court has directed all political parties to furnish receipts of electoral bonds and details of identity of donors in a sealer cover to the Election Commission. The order was passed on a plea of an NGO which challenged the validity of the scheme and sought that either the issuance of electoral bonds be stayed or names of donors be made public to ensure transparency in the poll process. As per provisions of the scheme, electoral bonds may be purchased by a person, who is a citizen of India or incorporated or established in India.
