UP/ Telangana/ Lakshadweep/ Andaman and Nicobar Islands/Assam/ Arunachal Pradesh, Apr 11 (ANI): Voter turnout till 9 am in UP's Saharanpur was 8%, Kairana-10%, Muzaffarnagar-10%, Meerut- 10%, Bijnor - 11%, Baghpat - 11%, Ghaziabad - 12% and Gautam Budh Nagar-12%. In Telangana, voter turnout recorded till 9 am was 10.6%, 5.83% in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, 10.2% in Assam and 13.3% in Arunachal Pradesh. 9.83% voter turnout recorded till 9 am in Lakshwadweep. New Delhi, Apr 11 (ANI): Facebook has had an option to turn a deceased person's profile into a memorial account. However, it continued to prompt friends of the person once a year, on the birthday. The slightly awkward and insensitive notification is about to change forever. In its official blog, Facebook detailed new updates to honour those who have passed away. These include a new tributes section for memorialised accounts, additional controls for people, who manage memorialised accounts, and improved AI to keep the profile of a deceased loved one from appearing in painful ways. If an account has not been memorialised, Facebook uses AI to help keep it from showing up in places that might cause distress. For instance, recommending that person be invited to events, or sending birthday reminder to their friends. Facebook is now only allowing friends and family members to request to have an account memorialised.

Study finds cancer-fighting gene to prevent birth defects

New Delhi, Apr 11 (ANI): A new research has revealed how p53 gene plays a pivotal role in healthy neural tube development. The p53 is a tumour subdue famous throughout scientific literature and history for its role in protecting humans from cancer. The neural tube is a vital element required for the proper formation of the brain and spinal cord. The study was published in the journal 'Cell Reports.' The findings explain p53's involvement in a molecular process specific to females called 'X chromosome inactivation'. The new findings helped to clarify why more females are born with neural tube birth defects such as Spina Bifida than males. One of the researchers said that the study showed how p53 influenced the function of genes required for fostering the production of healthy neural tube cells in the female embryo. Connectivity a key challenge for locals in these 16 Kalahandi villages

Kalahandi (Odisha), Apr 11 (ANI): 16 villages in Odisha's Kalahandi district remain cut off as the area is deprived of roads, forcing locals of these water-locked villages to turn to waterways for their commute. Locals in Thuamul Rampur (Block) of Kalahandi claim that they are cut off for the last 40 years, ever since the development of Indravati Dam Project began. Voters in this region are, however, enthusiastic to vote in the hope that their demands will be fulfilled. The area comes under the parliamentary constituency of Biju Janata Dal's Member of Parliament (MP) Arka Keshari Deo. Locals in the region have claimed that they have no option but to travel by boats, even to hospitals and schools, as there are no other means of transportation.
