TN polls: 'Confident' DMK installs countdown clock at party headquarters

Chennai, Mar 21 (ANI): DMK seemed confident ahead of Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections. A digital countdown clock has been installed at the entrance of party's headquarters in the run-up to the Election. Tamil Nadu will go to Assembly polls in single phase on April 06. Counting of votes will be held on May 02.

Meeting at Sharad Pawar residence amid Maharashtra political crisis

New Delhi, Mar 21 (ANI): Amid the political turmoil in Maharashtra in wake of allegations levelled by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh against the state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, a meeting is underway at the residence of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on March 21. Party leaders Praful Patel, Ajit Pawar, Jayant Patil and Supriya Sule are present at the meeting. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, Congress leader Kamal Nath also attended the meeting. Earlier in the day, Sharad Pawar said that there will be no impact on Maha Vikas Aghadi government.

Will work to make Bengali one of official languages in UN: Amit Shah

Kolkata (WB), Mar 21 (ANI): In BJP's manifesto for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, Amit Shah promised to make efforts in the direction of making Bengali one of the official languages, at international level in the United Nations. Home Minister Amit Shah also promised investigation in all the political killing cases, irrespective of their party. Home Minister said, "We will constitute an SIT to investigate cases of political killings and take strict action against those responsible. We will provide up to Rs 25 lakh as a rehabilitation package to each of the victims of political violence in West Bengal."

Govt doesn't work according to BJP: Sanjay Raut on resignation demand

New Delhi, Mar 21 (ANI): After BJP demanded Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh's resignation on the basis of allegations levelled by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said that the government does not work according to BJP. "Government has its own rule, regulation and it has majority that is why we run the government. So, allow the government to carry out their work," Raut added. Assuring that everything is smooth in Maharashtra Sanjay Raut said, "Param Bir Singh has worked on various posts and is a very responsible officer and he has worked well. Whatever he has written in the letter, Chief Minister will investigate it. Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has demanded investigation of what is written in the letter."

East Midnapore (West Bengal), Mar 21 (ANI): Intensifying attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of Bengal Assembly polls, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on March 21 termed his as the most "ruthless and cruel" PM, while also calling the BJP a "party of monsters". "BJP party means Bharatiya Joghonno (bad) Party. I was Lok Sabha MP seven times and I have seen many prime ministers. But I have never seen such a ruthless and cruel PM. BJP is a party of monsters, demons, Ravana, Duryodhana, Dushasana, unrest and terror," said CM Mamata in Nandakumar.

BJP will give 33% reservation to women in govt jobs in Bengal: Amit Shah

Kolkata (WB), Mar 21 (ANI): Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted some of the promises made in party's manifesto 'Sankalp Patra' for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly, including 33% reservation for women in all state government jobs. Amit Shah further said, "Continuing PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, Rs 18,000, which Mamata didi didn't give to farmers since three years, would be transferred to 75 lakh farmers' bank accounts without any cut." After recovering from critical car accident, Shripad Naik back in Parliament
