CM Thackeray files nomination for MLC elections

Mumbai, May 11 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray filed his nomination for the elections to State Legislative Council which is scheduled to be held on May 21. CM Uddhav Thackeray will become Member of Legislative Council unopposed. Elections to the nine Council seats, which fell vacant on April 24, were withheld due to COVID-19 outbreak. However, the poll panel granted permission for conducting elections and said that necessary guidelines to be ensured for safety against the contagion during the elections.

African Swine Flu claims lives of around 13, 000 pigs in Assam

Guwahati (Assam), May 11 (ANI): African Swine Flu has claimed the lives of around 13,000 pigs in Assam. The Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister of Assam Atul Bora visited the Kaziranga National Park to review the situation. The authorities of Kaziranga National Park have dug a canal in Agoratoli range to deter wild boars from going to nearby villages, in order to save them from the disease. Lockdown 3.0: NRIs fly back to UK from Amritsar airport

Amritsar (Punjab), May 11 (ANI): Special arrangements were made at Amritsar airport to facilitate the traveling of British nationals to UK on May 11. Thorough screening was conducted at the airport keeping in mind the coronavirus situation. UK had announced several charter flights to bring stranded British travellers from Amritsar amid pandemic. "I am really happy as I am going back to my children. I thank British government for this move," said an NRI at Amritsar airport.

Amritsar (Punjab), May 11 (ANI): Wholesale market in Punjab's Amritsar saw rush on the morning of May 11. Police reached the location to ensure people follow social distancing norms at the clothing market. Amritsar's Tahli Sahib wholesale cloth market has been allowed to operate from 6:00 am to 10:00 am only. Government of Punjab had announced certain relaxations in the third phase of lockdown. Stock indices up 1.5 percent on global cues, Tata Motors top gainer

New Delhi, May 11 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices traded higher during early hours on Monday in line with positive global cues as investors hoped for more economies reopening and easing of lockdown. At 10:15 am, the BSE S-P Sensex was up by 473 points or 1.49 per cent at 32,115 while the Nifty 50 edged higher by 134 points or 1.45 per cent at 9,386. All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the positive terrain with Nifty auto up by 2.9 per cent, IT by 2.3 per cent, metal by 2 per cent and private bank by 1.7 per cent. Shares of Tata Motors bounced by 5.1 per cent to Rs 85.25 per share while Hero MotoCorp climbed by 3.8 per cent, Maruti by 3.6 per cent and Bajaj Auto by 2.9 per cent. The other prominent gainers were UltraTech Cements, IndusInd Bank, Vedanta, ITC and Infosys. However, Dr Reddy's, Nestle India and ICICI Bank traded with a negative bias. Food safety officer, 3 employees of Municipal Corporation found COVID-19 positive in Indore

Indore (Madhya Pradesh), May 11 (ANI): The infection of coronavirus has now reached in the Municipal Corporation of Indore. One officer and three employees of the health department under the Municipal Corporation have been hit by it. All of them were serving in this epidemic.
