New Delhi, Jan 29 (ANI): Home Minister Amit Shah hits out at Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal over increased level of pollution in the city while addressing a public gathering in Najafgarh."They (AAP) had said that they'll purify the air of Delhi. They did drama, printed advertisements, but if anyone is responsible for the level of pollution in Delhi today then it's the inactivity of Kejriwal government. Delhi's air has poison mixed in it," said Amit Shah. "AAP had said that they will clean the water of river Yamuna. Kejriwal ji, today I challenge you to take off your shirt and take a dip in river Yamuna. You will realise the condition of the water of river Yamuna," Amit Shah further added.

Delhi Police takes Sharjeel Imam to Saket court

New Delhi, Jan 29 (ANI): Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student Sharjeel Imam is enroute to the Saket court by Delhi Police Crime branch on January 29. Sharjeel has sedition charges against him for his 'cut off Assam from India' remark. He was arrested by Delhi Police from his hometown Jehanabad on January 28.

BJP is putting up balanced campaign with positivity: Prakash Javadekar

New Delhi, Jan 29 (ANI): Union Minister and BJP leader Prakash Javadekar reacted over the Election Commission's order to remove Minister Anurag Thakur and Member of Parliament Parvesh Sahib Singh from the list of star campaigners for Delhi elections. Prakash Javadekar said, "We will study (the order) and if necessary, present a letter and application. BJP is putting up a balanced campaign with positivity. BJP is a thinking party which takes cognisance, so I'll give a comment after studying the order." Election Commission (EC) issued notice to BJP MP Parvesh Singh for prima facie violating Model Code of Conduct (MCC). EC has given him time till 12 noon of January 30 to provide an explanation, failing which EC will take a decision on the matter.

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Jan 29 (ANI): Kerala Assembly witnessed much drama on January 29. Speaking on it, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan said, "I have seen much worse than this when I was a member of the assembly (Uttar Pradesh)." United Democratic Front (UDF) MLAs had staged protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the state assembly. They also raised slogans against the Governor and walked out as soon as Governor Arif began to address the assembly.

Activist equates Indian Army to Pak Army during anti-CAA protest, says 'both kill their people'

New Delhi, Jan 29 (ANI): Several demonstrators staged protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on Jan 29. They staged protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR). They held placards and tricolour during the protest. In the mid of the protest, activist Tapan Bose said, 'BJP said that Pakistan is our enemy every single time. Pakistan is not an enemy country, ruling class of India and Pakistan are alike. Our armies are alike too, their army kills their people and our army kills our people, there is no difference between them.'

Nirbhaya's parents welcome SC's decision of dismissing 2012 Delhi gangrape convict Mukesh's petition

New Delhi, Jan 29 (ANI): Nirbhaya's mother welcomed Supreme Court's decision of dismissing 2012 Delhi gangrape convict Mukesh's petition to challenge against President's decision for dismissing mercy petition. Speaking on it, Nirbhaya's mother, Asha Devi said, "I am following this case for last 7 years and I saw what happened to my daughter. The case is clear as a mirror because after 2017's verdict to hang those convicts but they started putting petitions against it. I welcome this decision of Supreme Court and I hope that all the future petitions get dismissed by the Supreme Court. Finally, the convicts will be hanged on February 01." Nirbhaya's father, Badrinath said, "They tried to challenge even President's decision. These people are rubbish. Women are suffering because of these type of people." 'I went there to speak to protestors', says man who flashed gun at Shaheen Bagh protest

New Delhi, Jan 29 (ANI): Luqmaan Chaudhary, owner of the gun that was brandished at Shaheen Bagh said that he carries his gun with him everywhere. He said, "I have been living in Shaheen Bagh for 30 years, I went there to speak to protestors to open the road. UDF MLAs protest against CAA, NRC in Kerala Assembly

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Jan 29 (ANI): Kerala Assembly began with chaos on January 29. United Democratic Front (UDF) MLAs protested against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the state assembly. MLAs also raised slogans including 'recall Governor' as Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan arrived in the house. Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan also accompanied the Governor during state assembly. Due to continuous protest, state assembly marshals escorted Governor Khan to his chair. UDF MLAs walked out from the assembly as Governor Khan began to address.

Equity indices on upswing, metal and auto stocks gain

New Delhi, Jan 29 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices traded higher during early hours on Wednesday as investors hoped for elevated spending on infrastructure in the upcoming Union Budget to boost consumer demand and investments. At 10:15 am, the BSE SandP Sensex was up by 308 points to 41,275 while the Nifty 50 edged higher by 91 points at 12,147. All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the positive terrain with Nifty metal gaining by 1.4 per cent, auto by 1 per cent and FMCG by 0.8 per cent.
