New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): It is alleged that PFI spent Rs 120 crores for anti-CAA protests, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on asserted that it has raised serious apprehension. "Law enforcement agencies are doing their job, I need not make any comment. But if there is suspicious nature of transaction on a particular day then obviously it raises serious apprehension and protests that are organised don't look voluntary," said the Union Law and Justice Minister.

Part of propaganda supported by govt: Sibal on allegations of involvement in funding anti-CAA protests

New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): It is alleged that Kerala based PFI organisation and some advocates including Kapil Sibal fuelled via financial means, speaking on this Kapil Sibal asserted that it is a part of propaganda machine supported by government taken over by media 'bhakts'. "Media has put up a story that ED told them that CAA protests are funded by PFI and part of that funding has come to some advocates, including me. I wish both the media and those who leaked these stories did a bit of homework because they wouldn't have leaked it otherwise. But I think there is a motive behind it. The motive is very simple, destroy people's reputation by lies, lies and more lies. This seems to be part of their propaganda machine, supported by this govt and taken over by media 'bhakts' on social media," said Kapil Sibal.

Nepal's newly elected House Speaker sworn-in

Kathmandu (Nepal), Jan 27 (ANI): Newly-elected Speaker of Nepal's Parliament Agni Prasad Sapkota has taken oath of office and secrecy on Monday. Nepal President Bidhya Devi Bhandari administered the oath of office and secrecy to newly elected Speaker of House of Representatives amid a procession at President's Office. Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli, Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana and National Assembly chair Ganesh Prasad Timilsina were present in the ceremony. Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokhrel, former Prime Minister and Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', ministers, lawmakers, and officials from the constitutional bodies were also present at the occasion. Sapkota was elected to the post on Sunday unanimously after his candidacy remained uncontested. Clash breaks out between locals, district administration in Greater Noida over land acquisition

Greater Noida (UP), Jan 27 (ANI): A clash broke out on January 27 between a group of locals and the district administration when the latter had gone to take transfer of the acquisition of land for the proposed Jewar Airport. Sub-Divisional Magistrate Gunja Singh has also been injured in the clash. According to District Magistrate BN Singh, "There have been a total of 7 acquisitions till date, in these 7 months there was not even one incident. So I believe that people are handing over their plot of land willingly. This was an exception, police will do their job."

Sensex plunges by 464 points as spreading virus in China curbs risk appetite

New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices extended losses on Monday led by financial, metal, banking and auto stocks as the spread of coronavirus in China led investors globally to a shift from riskier assets to safe havens. Investors assessed the possibilities of disruption to supply chains and said market nerves may remain frayed Sensex plunges by 464 points as spreading virus in China curbs risk appetite Sensex Nifty unless there are signs that virus can be contained soon. The BSE S-P Sensex closed 458 points or 1.1 per cent lower at 41,155 while the Nifty 50 was down by 129 points at 12,119. All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the red except for Nifty pharma. Nifty metal dipped by 3.34 per cent, PSU bank by 2.25 per cent, financial service by 1.4 per cent and realty by 0.85 per cent.

Patient suspected of 'Coronavirus' has been kept in isolation: Rajasthan Minister Subhash Garg

Jaipur (Rajasthan), Jan 27 (ANI): Speaking on Coronavirus, Minister of State for Medical and Health Services in Rajasthan government Subhash Garg informed that one person suspected with 'Coronavirus' in Rajasthan has been kept in isolation. "One person suspected with 'Coronavirus' is admitted at Sawai Man Singh Hospital, Jaipur. The patient has been kept in isolation, condition is stable. The patient's samples have been sent to Pune for further investigation. The state government is taking all the precautions," said Rajasthan Minister Subhash Garg.

Indian Railways to run 100% on electricity by 2024: Piyush Goyal

New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): Union Railways Minister Piyush Goyal assured that 100% electrification of Indian Railways to be done by the year 2024. "By the year 2024, we expect the entire Indian Railways to be run on 100% electricity. It will be the first railway network in the world to be run on 100% electricity. Govt invites interested bidders for strategic disinvestment of Air India: Hardeep Puri

New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on January 27 informed that the newly constituted Air India mechanism, headed by Home Minister, has approved to invite expression of interest from the interested bidders for a strategic disinvestment of Air India. Hardeep Singh Puri said, "Due to its accumulated debt of around Rs 60,000 crores, the financial position could be described as very fragile and Air India can only be described as being under a debt trap." "Employees dues with arrears will be paid by the Air India assets holding company before the closing of the proposed transaction," Hardeep Singh Puri further added in a press conference.

HM Amit Shah signs agreement with banned Bodo group
