TMC is threatened by BJP: Dilip Ghosh on FIR against him over controversial remark

Kolkata, Jan 15 (ANI): West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh reacted on his remark claiming that violent anti-CAA protesters were shot like dogs which steered a controversy and later two FIRs were lodged against him by TMC. He said that the TMC feels threatened by BJP and that is why they are doing this. On being asked that BJP leaders are also condemning his statement, he said that the BJP party is united. Ghosh had on Sunday sparked controversy by threatening to shoot down those who damaged public property in the state. "Uttar Pradesh government had not only booked such people but also lathi-charged and shot them. Similarly, we will also shoot, lathi-charge and book whoever destroys public property in the state," Ghosh said addressing a public gathering in Nadia.

CAA protests: AASU workers show black flags to Assam CM's convoy in Chabua

Chabua (Assam), Jan 15 (ANI): All Assam Students' Union (AASU) workers showed black flags to the convoy of Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal in Chabua, Dibrugarh on January 15. The students' body is continuously agitating against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) due to which violent protests had also broken out in the state soon after the bill became an Act on December 12, 2019.

Don't ask me, ask the govt: Nirbhaya's mother on fresh delay in hanging of convicts

New Delhi, Jan 15 (ANI): After the Delhi government told Delhi High Court that the hanging of the four convicts in the Dec 16 gang rape case will not held on the scheduled date of January 22 as the execution could take place only 14 days after the rejection of the mercy petition, Nirbhaya's mother Asha Devi said that the system is supporting criminals by delaying the execution. She said, "Either lawyers of the convicts are trying to delay execution or our system is blind and is supporting criminals. I'm struggling since 7 years. Instead of asking me, you should ask the government if convicts will be hanged on Jan 22 or not." On January 14, Mukesh, one of the convicts, filed mercy petition against the death warrant issued against him.

Davinder Singh suspended, recommended his sacking to govt: J-K DGP

Jammu, Jan 15 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh informed that Deputy SP Davinder Singh, who was arrested with two wanted Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists, has been suspended. Singh said, "He has been suspended, we are recommending his sacking to the government. Cannot share right now what has been revealed during the interrogation." Davinder Singh was arrested with two wanted militants in Shopian on January 11 while they were travelling in a vehicle on National Highway.

They're making mistake. Now we had this disaster of the shooting of this civilian flight, we lost a lot of bright minds. Why did it happen? 31 people injured in Jallikattu competition in Madurai

Madurai (Tamil Nadu), Jan 15 (ANI): Thirty one participants have got injured in Jallikattu competition in Madurai's Avaniyapuram so far on Jan 15. Six people were admitted to Rajaji Hospital in Madurai for the treatment. Tradition bull-taming sport started in Tamil Nadu today. The Supreme Court (SC) in 2014 banned 'Jallikattu' after a plea was filed by the Animal Welfare Board of India and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) but the state government insisted Jallikattu was a crucial part of its culture and identity. The ban was later lifted in January 2017 with an amendment due to massive protests along the Marina beach in Chennai.

Jammu, Jan 15 (ANI): 2G internet on post-paid connections was restored in districts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur and Reasi on Jan 15. Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, GC Murmu said, "We are reviewing continuously about how it is going and how it is going to utilize. Accordingly, we are relaxing everything and in coming days, more communication channels will be opened." He further said, "Normalcy is in Jammu and in the other parts. People are very cooperative and are now participating in the development process. Everybody is worried about development and well-being and we are addressing those things. I feel it is normal." New Delhi, Jan 15 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, in Delhi during 'Raisina Dialogue 2020' stated that there are currently various forces of disruption in world, thus India should be stablising power and be a country which brings its capacities to bear on the inter-natal system for global good. "I think it is not India's way to be a 'disruptionist' power internationally, I think we should be a stablising power. There are already enough forces of disruption in the world. Somebody needs to make up a bit," said EAM. "It is also not the India way to be self-centered, to be mercantilist. Therefore it's important to be global, law abiding, consultative.
