The former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid, commonly known as 'The Wall' is renowned for doing everything that the team asked from him and enabling the side to turn the tables after being completely down and out. He is the only player to be involved in two 300-plus ODI partnerships. The batsman played 164 Tests, 344 ODIs and one T20I for India. New Delhi, Jan 11 (ANI): A new comprehensive study revealed that construction activities and vehicular traffic contribute significantly to the Delhi and National Capital Region's high concentrations of harmful air pollutants and gases. According to the World Health Organisation, air pollution was estimated to cause nearly 4.2 million premature deaths worldwide in 2016. In India, around 600,000 deaths annually are attributed to air pollution, and some of the world's highest levels can be found in Delhi city. In a study published in Sustainable Cities and Society, a team led by Surrey's Global Centre for Clean Air Research (GCARE) gathered and analysed four years of pollution data from 12 sites across Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, with the aim of understanding how particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10) and gases (oxides of nitrogen, sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide, and ozone) impact this area of India. Kochi (Kerala), Jan 11 (ANI): All arrangements have been made for the two-day demolition of Maradu flats in Kochi that will begin from today at 11 am. A mock drill was carried out successfully on Friday to ensure the safety of citizens ahead of the demolition of four multi-storey flats at Maradu here. The mock drill was held after a primary evaluation of safety measures taken by police. Ahead of the demolition of four apartments - Holy Faith H2O, twin towers of Alfa Serene, Jain Coral Cove, and Golden Kayaloram - in Maradu through controlled explosion on January 11-12, the district administration issued advisory and restricted drones in the evacuation zone with immediate effect. As per the advisory, Section 144, which prohibits an assembly of four or more people in an area, has been imposed in the evacuation zone of all the flats to be demolished from 8 am to 4 pm. After inspecting the scene of the bus accident, IG Agarwal said, "Around 45 people were in the bus. 25 people were rescued, 12 of them admitted at Medical College Tirwa and 11 at District hospital; 2 people were completely safe and were sent home. 18-20 are missing, maybe they died but it is not certain yet," "The bodies are badly burned, their bones are scattered,so only a DNA test will determine the death toll. Prima facie bodies of 8-10 people seem to be on the bus but the damage is so extensive that casualties can be determined only through DNA test." A bus carrying over 40 passengers collided with a truck in Uttar Pradesh's Kannauj and caught fire on January 10. The collision took place on GT Road. People injured in the accident have been shifted to hospital.
New Delhi, Jan 11 (ANI): Students and faculty members from 15 schools across the US will be able to use Google Pay as their campus ID. Billing and payment services company called Transact has launched the feature that allows users to save school IDs to their Google Pay app, Engadget notes. The feature is currently supported on Android devices. Users have to simply tap their Android phone to an NFCreader to access residential areas or labs, and pay bills for laundry or dining on campus.
