Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh), Dec 27 (ANI): Speaking on the Muzaffarnagar violence during anti-CAA protest which took place on December 20, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sanjeev Balyan said that as children from Madarsas are detained by police, there must be an investigation. He said, "I'm told children aged 12-18 yrs participated. If children are involved in pelting stones, it's not good. Who sent children from Madrasas, that should be investigated. Deoband is nearby, an investigation can be done."

Portion of Dal Lake freezes after temperature dips in Srinagar

Locals stage anti-CAA protest outside Jama Masjid

Delhi, Dec 27 (ANI): Locals gathered outside Jama Masjid in the national capital to protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act. Protesters held posters which read 'Save the Constitution' and 'Withdraw the CAA'. Anti-CAA protests have stirred the country after President Ram Nath Kovind gave it assent, turning it into an Act. The violence during protests has claimed numerous lives across the country.

It's a goodbye for 1999 Kargil war hero'MiG-27'

Jodhpur (Rajasthan), Dec 27 (ANI): Indian Air Force bids farewell to'MiG-27' on December 27. The farewell ceremony happened at Air Force Station Jodhpur. Veteran Air Force officers along with serving ones took part in the ceremony. A number of air shows were also performed for the de-induction of the ceremony.'MiG-27' played a crucial role during 1999 Kargil war against Pakistan. Home Ministry directed to cause damage to Congress: Ex Cong MLA on FIR after violence in Seelampur

New Delhi, Dec 27 (ANI): Ex-Congress MLA Mateen Ahmed has been named in FIR in connection with Seelampur anti-CAA violence that happened on December 27. Speaking on it, Mateen Ahmed said, "We were denied permission for bike rally. Police knows I don't speak instigating language. This has been done on direction of Home Ministry to cause damage to Congress. We have no problem with any case. When the fight for independence was being fought, the British adopted oppressive methods. Today, BJP is also adopting the same method but we are not afraid of their tactics."

Equities trade higher on global cues, PSU banks rally in opening session

New Delhi, Dec 27 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices were buoyant during early hours on Friday in line with Asian markets as investors hoped that the US-China trade deal will soon be signed. At 10:15 am, the BSE S and P Sensex was up by 195 points to 41,359 while the Nifty 50 edged higher by 54 points at 12,181. Apart from Nifty IT and metal, all sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the green. Nifty PSU bank jumped by 2.62 per cent. Nifty financial service gained by half per cent while auto ticked up by 0.6 per cent. Among stocks, State Bank of India rose by 2.12 per cent to Rs 336.85 per share while Yes Bank and Axis Bank moved up by 1.3 per cent and 1.1 per cent respectively. Index heavyweight Reliance Industries jumped by 1.2 per cent to Rs 1,533.70 per share. The other prominent gainers were Zee Entertainment, Power Grid Corporation, Cipla, Bharti Airtel, Adani Ports and UPL.

Man rescues policeman from violent mob during anti-CAA protests in Firozabad

Firozabad (Uttar Pradesh), Dec 27 (ANI): A man named Hajji Qadir came to the rescue of a policeman after he was surrounded and beaten by a violent mob during protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act last week in Uttar Pradesh's Firozabad district. Ajay Kumar, a policeman, had sustained injuries on his hand and head after he was beaten by the violent mob during the December 20 protests in the district. Qadir came to Kumar's rescue, took him to his home and later dropped him to the police station after the situation was brought under control. "Hajji Qadir Sahab took me to his home. I had sustained injuries on one of my fingers and head. He gave me water and his clothes to wear and assured me that I will be safe. He took me to the police station later," Kumar said. "He came like an angel in my life. Had it not been for him, I would have been killed," he added. Minor girl raped inside bus, 2 arrested in MP's Rajgarh

Rajgarh (Madhya Pradesh), Dec 27 (AN): A minor girl was allegedly raped inside a bus at Biaora bus stand in Madhya Pradesh's Rajgarh, police said. "A man filed a complaint that his minor girl went missing. She was going to Indore. A case was registered later and an investigation was initiated. Later, she was seen at Biaora bus stand. The girl was found on a bus with two men. The girl said one of them raped her. Both accused were arrested," police official told ANI. The police arrested both men and registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Man arrested for attempting to rape 6-yr-old girl in Moradabad

Moradabad (UP), Dec 27 (ANI): A man was arrested for allegedly attempting to rape a 6-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad. The incident took place on December 25 at the district hospital in Moradabad where the girl's mother was admitted. While speaking to ANI, Moradabad ASP Deepak Bhuker said, "The accused has been arrested based on the girl's complaint. A case has been registered under relevant sections."
