CM Biren Singh opens 'Nupi Drama Festival' in Imphal

Imphal (Manipur), Dec 25 (ANI): The first-ever Northeastern women drama festival kick started in Manipur's Imphal. The 10-day 'Nupi Drama Festival' was commenced from December 24, 2019 to January 02, 2019. Chief Minister of Manipur N Biren Singh inaugurated the drama festival. Prominent women theatre directors from different Northeastern states participated in the festival. They performed their art so efficiently during the first day of the festival. 'Northeastern Women Drama Festival' was organised by local theatre group 'Khenjonglang' in association with Sangeet Natak Akademi and Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy.

Deposit used plastic to get free milk in Panchkula

Panchkula (Haryana), Dec 25 (ANI): Panchkula Municipal Corporation came up with a unique idea to get rid of plastic. The administration has decided to offer milk in exchange of used plastics to the netizens. The decision has been taken to support 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' and to make Panchkula, plastic free. On submission of every 10 used plastic bottles, people can claim a packet of milk. Through this initiative, Panchkula Municipal Corporation has collected almost 5 tonnes of plastic till now. Speaking on it, Panchkula Municipal Corporation's Executive Commissioner Jarnail Singh said, "Whoever will deposit 10 used plastic bottles, will get a packet of milk. Municipal Corporation has set up vita booths where netizens can deposit plastic bottles to claim the packet of milk. Through this initiative, we have collected almost 5 tonnes of plastic till now. And it got recycled as well. We are getting really positive response from the people."

Police registers case against people for chanting 'Hanuman Chalisa' in Aligarh

Aligarh (UP), Dec 25 (ANI): Police registered case against several people for chanting 'Hanuman Chalisa' in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh on December 24. Case was registered for violating norms amid imposition of Section 144 across state due to protests regarding Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). They were chanting 'Hanuman Chalisa' at Centre Point of Aligarh. People from different caste and communities were chanting 'Hanuman Chalisa'. While speaking to ANI, the Circle Officer (CO) of Aligarh, Anil Samaniya said, "They (people) have violated rules of Section 144 and were chanting 'Hanuman Chalisa' in mid of the road."

Imported onions arrive in WB markets, receive mixed reactions

Asansol (WB), Dec 25 (ANI): In a major relief amid soaring prices, special kinds of onions that were imported from Turkey have hit the market and are getting mixed reactions from the public in West Bengal's Asansol. According to the vendors, these new onions weigh around 400-500 grams a piece. Speaking to ANI, a customer said, "These look like the father of onions. They are way too big. We cannot buy this. We will not be able to use it in our food." Another local, however, said that they have to buy the onion because they have no other option."Kharidana to Padega hi" (We will have to buy eventually), said another customer. In a bid to control the rising prices of onions, the central government had earlier announced that it will import the staple vegetable from Turkey.

Hapur (Uttar Pradesh), Dec 25 (ANI): A sudden rush to get birth certificates has been witnessed in UP's Hapur. Some of these people have birth year of 1948 while some have 1952. Speaking on it, Hapur Nagar Palika, Executive Officer JK Anand said, "There has been a sudden rush to get birth certificates made. Some are from 1948, some 1952 etc. The issue, we are facing is that we are not able to get information of such old dates, trying to do best we can. I can't say right now why this unexpected rush."

According to The Verge, both the titles - Pokemon Tower Battle and Pokemon Medallion Battle - have been built using Facebook's Instant Games platform. NPR is first step towards NRC, HM Shah misleading people: Owaisi

Hyderabad, Dec 25 (ANI): All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi reacted on Home Minister Amit Shah's recent interview with ANI, where Home Minister said that 'there is no link between National Population Register (NPR) and National Register of Citizens (NRC). "Is NPR not related to NRC and HM Shah has also said to me in Parliament that NRC will be implemented PAN-India. You are the Home Minister you should only say that truth, why are you misleading people, NPR is the first step of NRC," said Owaisi while talking to ANI.
