Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Dec 18 (ANI): Former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh and senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Wednesday said that the people who believe in the Constitution of India will never allow the implementation of this Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019.
Jaipur (Rajasthan), December 18 (ANI): On the first anniversary of Rajasthan Government Farmers' Meet was organized in Jaipur. On this occasion, the CM Ashok Gehlot launched 'Farmer Welfare Fund' worth Rs 1000 crore and released 'Rajasthan Agriculture Processing, Agriculture Business and Agriculture Export Promotion Policy-2019'. He also launched 'Krishi Gyan Dhara' programme to link farmers with the latest farming technologies. CM Gehlot said that these important initiatives would help the state in the direction of 'Ease of Doing Farming'. Kolkata, Dec 18 (ANI): While addressing a press conference in Kolkata, Governor of West Bengal, Jagdeep Dhankhar on Wednesday said that the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 doesn't affect the interest of any Indian citizen. He said, "Citizenship Act doesn't affect the interest of any Indian citizen. I've been pained about the situation particularly in Malda and Murshidabad, where there is deep sense of fear. I've indicated to senior most bureaucrat DGP that I'd like to visit the affected-areas." "An elected government is fully bound by the law of the land. The CM took oath to act according to the Constitution, and this law (#CitizenshipAmendmentAct) is part of the Constitution," he added.
Kolkata, Dec 18 (ANI): Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee took out protest march in Kolkata against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens of India (NRC) on December 18.While addressing the public, CM Mamata appealed to the Home Minister Amit Shah to control the country and maintain the peace and also challenged him of implementing it on the state. She said, "You are Home Minister of the country not only a BJP leader, please maintain peace in the country. You have not done 'sabka saath, sabka vikas' but 'sabke saath sarvanash'. Withdraw CAA and NRC, or else I will see how you implement it here."
Hyderabad, Dec 18 (ANI): Hyderabad-based Urdu author, Mujtaba Hussain has announced that he will return his Padma Shri Award as he is pained over the 'current situation' in the country. While speaking to ANI, he said, "Our democracy is being shattered. There is no system prevailing now, someone is being administered oath at 7am in the morning, governments are being made during the night, there is an atmosphere of fear in the country".
New Delhi, Dec 18 (ANI): Supreme Court has rejected review petition of Akshay Kumar Singh, one of the convicts in the 2012 Delhi gang-rape case on Dec 18. Nirbhaya's Father, Badrinath Singh said, "Our journey was full of pain. Every single second was very heavy for us. But Supreme Court rejected their plea. They had no valid point to prove in the court. But we are still not satisfied. We'll be in pain until Patiala Court would pronounce its verdict on the death sentence." Nirbhaya's Mother, Asha Devi said, "We are hoping that the decision would be in our favour in Patiala Court as well and convicts will be hanged to death. We have waited for a long 7-year we fought this battle with full of patience. Nirbhaya will get justice now."
Kolkata, Dec 18 (ANI): Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee took out protest march in Kolkata against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens of India (NRC) on Dec 18. It is the third consecutive day that she had taken out the protest march. All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) supporters in large numbers took part in the protest march.
New Delhi, Dec 18 (ANI): Delhi Court adjourned hearing till January 7 on Wednesday in the death warrant for the hanging of convicts in the 2012 Delhi gang-rape case. The court directed Tihar Jail authorities to issue a fresh notice for one week to convicts as to whether they want to file mercy petitions. Reacting on the court's order, Nirbhaya's Mother, Asha Devi said, "The court has given them (convicts) to time to seek remedy. Court is only looking at their (convicts) rights and not ours. There is no guarantee that a judgement will be given on next date of hearing."
New Delhi, Dec 18 (ANI): Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal reacted on recent Jamia incident and allegations levelled by opposition leaders on him of inciting violence. "Opposition inciting violence in parts of Delhi," said CM Kejriwal. In a media brief, he said, "An attempt is being made to drag AAP's name in the recent incidents. Why will AAP do this? How will we be benefit? We all should maintain peace. Only those who fear defeat in the upcoming elections are inciting riots."
New Delhi, Dec 18 (ANI): Supreme Court has rejected review petition of Akshay Kumar Singh, one of the convicts in the 2012 Delhi gang-rape case on Dec 18. Now, he will file a mercy petition before the President of India and seeks three weeks time to file it, according to his lawyer AP Singh. "We have requested for the mercy petition and no death warrant can be issued in this time. Even Solicitor General said that we have 7 days and no one can deny it. Even it is said in the Constitution that after rejection of review petition, petitioner can put mercy petition," said lawyer Singh.
New Delhi, Dec 18 (ANI): Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced various facilities and welfare scheme for lawyers who are voters in Delhi. "There were some longstanding demands of lawyers that we had promised to fulfill. We had set aside Rs 50 crore for their welfare, a committee was set up to decide how to spend it. Committee had made four demands, the cabinet has accepted all of them. We have decided to give lawyers who are voters in Delhi, medical insurance up to Rs 5 lakh, every lawyer will be given life insurance up to Rs 10 lakh. E-libraries and creches will be started in all court premises for the lawyers, for their convenience," said CM Kejriwal.

Supreme Court will also hear petition filed by Advocate Sanjeev Kumar, seeking immediate direction to execute culprits at the earliest. Speaking on today's review, Nirbhaya's father Badrinath Singh said, "I am feeling the same as the whole country, their (convicts) petition will definitely be rejected and the date of their hanging will be given."
