Guwahati (Assam), Jun 22 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister on Friday inaugurated the Ambubachi Mela at Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati. Ambubachi Mela is a four-day religious congregation, the largest in the region. Kamakhya Temple will be closed tomorrow and will reopen on June 25. Ambubachi celebrates the menstruation of Goddess Kamakhya. Lakhs of devotees from different parts of the country as well as abroad throng the mela every year. During this period, Goddess Kamakhya is believed to go undergo her menstrual cycle
Ratlam (Madhya Pradesh), Jun 22 (ANI): Angry villagers of Bhima Khedi village in Madhya Pradesh"s Ratlam, disappointed over impeding construction work of a drain, tied the 'gram panchayat" secretary to a pole, as they complained of water getting accumulated in their streets where mosquitoes have become a nuisance. Secretary Gopal Singh Solanki was later rescued by the police, and narrated his side of the story. Solanki said, "I had asked an engineer for valuation of our work but some miscreants did not let us do that. They took me away from there, tied me to an electricity pole. Later police came to rescue me. A drain was being constructed which had not been evaluated."
Sagar (Madhya Pradesh), Jun 22 (ANI): A case of medical negligence to came to fore in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar where doctors at Distict Civil Hospital first declared a man dead but later found them alive just before the patient was to be taken for postmortem. The incident came to light when police had arrived to take the body for the postmortem but surprisingly found the man alive. The man, however, didn't live long after and died soon after the arrival of police. Chief Medical Officer Dr RS Roshan said an investigation will be done in the negligence done by the respective doctor.
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Jun 22 (ANI): Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday admitted that senior BJP leaders, before the elections, were unsure of the party defeating the SP-BSP alliance in Uttar Pradesh, and said they were of the view that the party wouldn't be able to get more than 10-15 seats in the Hindi heartland state. Singh added that he himself, although didn't have such conservative target, had doubts of BJP repeating its 2014 performance. Singh praised the BJP workers and the voters of Uttar Pradesh for party's magnificent win in UP. "After SP-BSP alliance in UP, even senior leaders used to think, we (BJP) will only get 10-15 seats and not 72. Even after staying in power for 5 years, there was no anti-incumbency, on contrary, there was pro-incumbency. BJP's vote share increased," Singh said at a BJP workers' event in Lucknow.
Shamli (Uttar Pradesh), Jun 22 (ANI): In a visible case of lack of medical infrastructure in the government-run hospitals of the country, a woman patient was transported to the District Hospital in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli on a cart as her family alleged they failed to get an ambulance. One of the family members told ANI, "I called them up. They told me there is no one at hospital. Doctors made me go from one room to other and asked me to take her to Meerut." The Chief Medical Officer of Shamli, Dr. Sanjay Bhatnagar, while saying that two ambulances stay outside the hospital to bring patients, assured than an investigation into the matter will be done.
Darbhanga (Bihar), Jun 22 (ANI): The encephalitis outbreak in Muzaffarpur where more than 120 children have died of the Japanese fever has also put forth the deteriorating conditions of government hospitals across the country. Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), which falls in neigbouring Darbhanga in Bihar, seems to be living its last few days as along with lack of proper facilities, the hospital's physical infrastructure is also in shambles, and parts of the building could collapse if immediate action is not taken by the authorities. "Authorities and ministers have been informed about the condition in the hospital but nothing has happened yet. I have written to them many a times. If something is not done immediately parts of the building can collapse," said Dr. Raj Ranjan Prasad, Superintendent, DMCH. People at the hospital complain of having no medicines and said the fans and ACs, too, are not functional.

New Delhi, Jun 22 (ANI): A Muslim man has alleged that he was attacked up by a group of three men in Delhi's Rohini Sector 20 after he refused to say 'jai shree ram'. "Some people sitting inside the car asked me to say 'Jai shree ram' but I avoided them. They then verbally abused me and hit me with the car which has caused these injuries,"Mohammad Momin told ANI. Delhi Police took note of the incident and registered an FIR in the case, and said they will verify Momin's allegations. "We have registered an FIR of accident. However, Mohammad Momin has claimed that three boys who were in a white car had asked him to say some religious word, when he refused, they hit him. Now we are verifying this allegation. CCTV footage will be examined,"said SD Mishra, DCP, Rohini.
New Delhi, Jun 22 (ANI): Researchers developed a new drug delivery system with the help of curcumin, the main ingredient in the spice turmeric that successfully prevents bone cancer cells to spread and promote the growth of healthy bone cells. The work could lead to better post-operative treatments for people with osteosarcoma, the second most prevalent cause of cancer death in children, reported the Journal of Applied Materials and Interfaces. Turmeric has been used in cooking and as medicine for centuries in Asian countries, and its active ingredient, curcumin has been shown to have anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and bone-building capabilities. It has also been shown to prevent various forms of cancers. "I want people to know the beneficial effects of these natural compounds. Natural biomolecules derived from these plant-based products are inexpensive and a safer alternative to synthetic drugs," said Bose.

They lost their life in AN32 aircraft crash in Arunachal Pradesh on June 03. Mortal remains of H Vinod were taken for last rites in Sulur of Coimbatore urban district. Various rescue teams struggled for days to reach out the crash site in Arunachal Pradesh.

Rohtak (Haryana), June 21 (ANI): A pandemonium broke out in Haryana's Rohtak after people looted yoga mats from the venue today. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had participated in a programme for International Day of Yoga earlier. Haryana was in special focus of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for Yoga Day event as the state is going to poll later this year. The International Day of Yoga is celebrated on June 21 every year since 2015.
