A special train carrying 225 migrant workers from Bihar reached in Telangana

Serilingampally (Telangana), May 09 (ANI): A special train carrying 225 migrant workers from Bihar reached Lingampally Railway Station in Telangana on May 08. According to Cyberabad Police Commissioner, these workers were willing to work in the rice mills in Telangana. They were screened and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits were later given to them.

Everyday hygiene reduces need for antibiotics by 30 pc, says new paper

New Delhi, May 09 (ANI): Improved everyday hygiene practices, such as hand-washing, decreases the risk of common infections by up to 50 per cent, reducing the need for antibiotics by up to 30 per cent, according to a new position paper. Global public health experts are now calling for home and community hygiene to become part of strategic plans to reduce hundreds of thousands of deaths from AMR (Antimicrobial Resistance) globally each year. The position paper is published in the American Journal of Infection Control (AJIC). As witnessed during the recent global efforts to delay the spread of COVID-19, hygiene practices, including hand-washing, have become an essential part of everyone's daily routine and are considered to be the first line of defence in reducing the spread of common infections. Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh), May 09 (ANI): The Porters at Jabalpur Railway Station facing financial hardships amid coronavirus lockdown. "We are facing trouble in the lockdown. No passenger train comes or leaves, we don't have work. We don't have any source of income. How should we look after our family?," said Yogesh Kamlakar, a porter at Jabalpur railway station in Madhya Pradesh. "We received some help only from TCs (Ticket Collectors). We had written letter to DRM, Railways and Chief Minister. We're awaiting a response," said another porter, Narendra Tiwari.

Delhi's migrant workers demand to be sent back home

New Delhi, May 09 (ANI): Around 90 stranded migrant workers staying around Talkatora Road demanded to be sent back to their homes. One of them said, "I don't have any money. My daughter-in-law gave birth to a child 7 days back but she hasn't been able to eat anything" "We first went to Parliament Street Police station from where we were sent to District Magistrate office. When we went there, we were just given a chit with link to some website. We neither have a smartphone nor access to any computer. Where should we go?", said another migrant worker Vinod. The workers mostly came from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.

Facebook redesign goes live with dark mode and easier navigation

New Delhi, May 09 (ANI): After conducting months-long testing, Facebook on Friday made its redesign live. According to TechCrunch, the redesign of the social media platform has taken cues from the mobile application which offers faster load times and easier navigation. While dark mode for the mobile application has been available for the users for a long time, the same has been now launched in its desktop mode. Congress, Samajwadi Party shedding crocodile tears for migrant workers: UP's Labour Minister

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), May 09 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh's Labour Minister, Swami Prasad Maurya hits back at Congress and Samajwadi Party over the Labour Laws Ordinance. "Those shedding crocodile tears for workers perhaps don't know that this ordinance (in Labour Laws) will not only pave way for investments but also open job opportunities for migrant labourers who are returning home and have to be provided jobs here," said Labour Minister Swami Prasad Maurya. "They should first read the ordinance and then make a comment. But there comments show that they are the number one enemies of workers," the minister further said. The Uttar Pradesh government has cleared an ordinance exempting businesses and industries from labour laws for the next three years as a measure to get the State's industrial activities back on track in wake of the COVID-19 crisis.

COVID-19: 182 stranded Indian nationals arrive in Chennai from Dubai

New Delhi, May 08 (ANI): Reviewing coronavirus situation in the country, the Health Ministry informed that ICMR will conduct trial in 21 hospitals, to assess safety and efficacy of convalescent plasma amid COVID-19. "Project PLACID - Phase-II Open-Label Randomised Controlled Trial of ICMR has received approval of COVID-19 National Ethics Committee. Aurangabad train accident: Eyewitness narrates horrific incident
