Students return to Patna from Kota by special train

Patna (Bihar), May 05 (ANI): Special trains from Rajasthan's Kota, carrying stranded students reached Patna on May 5. These students were stranded in Kota after nationwide lockdown was imposed to contain the spread of coronavirus. Recently, Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) allowed the states to ferry migrant labourers, students and tourists in special trains.

193 Pakistani nationals return via Attari-Wagah border

64 flights to bring stranded Indians from 12 countries: Civil Aviation Minister

New Delhi, May 05 (ANI): Reviewing the situation of stranded Indians in foreign countries, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri informed that 64 flights will be operated in the first week to bring stranded people from different countries during May 7 to May 13. "The 64 flights include-UAE- 10 flights, Qatar- 2, Saudi Arabia- 5, UK- 7, Singapore- 5, United States-7, Philippines- 5, Bangladesh- 7, Bahrain - 2, Malaysia-7, Kuwait-5, and Oman-2," said Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.

Lockdown 3.0: 310 NRIs fly back to UK from Amritsar airport

Amritsar (Punjab), May 05 (ANI): Special arrangements were made at Amritsar airport to facilitate travel of 310 NRIs to UK on May 05. Thorough screening was conducted at the airport keeping in mind the coronavirus situation. UK had announced 7 additional charter flights to bring stranded British travellers from Amritsar amid pandemic. "We are going to London. We thank British govt and Modi govt both for the arrangements," said an NRI at Amritsar airport.

India registers highest single-day spike in coronavirus cases: Health Ministry

New Delhi, May 05 (ANI): Reviewing coronavirus situation in the country, Health Ministry informed that India saw the highest single-day spike so far, with 3,900 new cases and 195 deaths in last 24 hours. "Total number of positive cases of COVID-19 is 46,433. In last 24 hours there have been 3,900 new cases, 195 deaths and 1,020 people have recovered. The recovery rate is 27.41%," said Lav Aggarwal. "We persuaded certain states as we were not receiving reports of cases/deaths on time from them, after which the cases have been reported and we have seen spike in death cases today," he further informed.

JEE Main exam from July 18-23, NEET exam on July 26, informs HRD Minister

New Delhi, May 05 (ANI): Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal informed that IIT-JEE (Main) examination will be held from July 18 to 23 and NEET examination will be on July 26. "IIT-JEE (Main) examination will be held on 18, 20, 21, 22, and 23 July respectively. IIT-JEE Advance exam to be held on August, date will be announced later. NEET exam will be held on 26th July. Decision will be taken soon on the pending Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10th and 12th board exams," said Pokhriyal.

Lockdown 3.0: Locals say no issue with 70% tax on liquor as it's a donation for country

New Delhi, May 05(ANI): Amid relaxation in lockdown 3.0, people formed long queues outside a liquor stores in national capital. Delhi Government on May 04 imposed a "Special Corona Fee" of 70% tax on Maximum Retail Price of the liquor. A man outside a liquor shop in Laxmi Nagar, Delhi said, "I am here since 6 am. Shop was supposed to open at 9 am but police arrived at 8:55 am...who will be responsible if something untoward happens here? We've no issue with 70% tax it's like a donation from us to country".
