Ramnagara (Karnataka), Apr 17 (ANI): While many weddings have been called off across the country amid COVID-19 lockdown, Nikhil Kumarswamy, son of former Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy, tied the knot with Revathi on April 17. Revathi is the grand grand-niece of former Congress Minister for Housing M Krishnappa. The wedding took place in Ramnagara during the nationwide lockdown.

COVID-19: RBI announces Rs 50,000 crore support to NABARD, NHB and SIDBI

Mumbai, Apr 17 (ANI): Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced special refinance facilities of Rs 50,000 crore to National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, Small Industries Development Bank of India, and National Housing Bank on April 17. "It has been decided to provide special refinance facilities for an amount of Rs 50,000 crores to National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, Small Industries Development Bank of India, and National Housing Bank to enable them to meet sectoral credit needs," said RBI Governor.

COVID-19: No cases reported in past 15 days from 3 locations including Dilshad Garden, says Satyendar Jain

New Delhi, Apr 17 (ANI): Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain informed that no case has been reported in past 15 days from 3 locations including Dilshad Garden. "Total 1640 COVID-19 cases reported in Delhi till today, of which 62 positive cases were reported yesterday. 38 persons have expired till date, 34 are in ICU and 6 are on ventilator. No case has been reported in last 15 days from 3 locations in the national capital, including Dilshad Garden. 60 containment zones identified till now," said Satyendar Jain on 'Operation Shield' that is being conducted in areas from where #COVID19 cases are reported.

COVID-19 effect: Reverse Repo rate cut by 25 bps to 3.75%, says RBI Governor

Mumbai, Apr 17 (ANI): Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor, Shaktikanta Das announced that Reverse Repo rate cut by 25 basis points to 3.75%. "It has been decided to reduce the fixed reverse repo rate under liquidity adjustment facility (LAF) by 25 basis points from 4% to 3.75%, with immediate effect: RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das," said Das amid COVID-19 lockdown effect.

RBI expects 7.4% GDP growth for FY 2021-22

Mumbai, Apr 17 (ANI): Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor, Shaktikanta Das said that India is expected to post a sharp turnaround and resume its pre-covid, pre-slowdown trajectory by growing at 7.4% in 2021-22. "For 2020-21, International Monetary Fund (IMF) projects sizable reshaped recoveries, close to 9 percentage points for the global GDP. Equity indices jump 3 pc ahead of RBI Governor's address

Mumbai, Apr 17 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices jumped over 3 per cent during early hours on Friday in line with firm global cues and ahead of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das' address to the media. Reports of another imminent stimulus package from the government lifted market sentiment. Das is expected to make announcements concerning additional measures to help the economy in the face of COVID-19 crisis. At 10 am, the BSE SandP Sensex was up by 887 points or 2.9 per cent at 31,489 while the Nifty 50 edged higher by 271 points or 3 per cent at 9,263. All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the positive terrain with Nifty realty, financial service and private bank up by 4.5 per cent each, IT by 3.6 per cent and auto by 2.9 per cent. Among stocks, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) rose nearly 7 percent after the IT major reported a consolidated profit of Rs 8,049 crore, down 0.85 per cent on a quarter-on-quarter basis.

COVID-19: Punjab govt turns Barnala jail into quarantine center

Barnala (Punjab), Apr 17 (ANI): Punjab has turned Barnala jail into quarantine center to curb the spread of coronavirus pandemic. At least 203 inmates shifted to Central Jail Bathinda from District Jail Barnala and 100 inmates shifted to New Jail Nabha. COVID-19 lockdown: Tea growers in HP's Kangra awaiting for passage after new guidelines

Kangra (Himachal Pradesh), Apr 17 (ANI): Tea growers in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra are worried about their business amid coronavirus lockdown. A Tea Company's Manager, Aman Singh said, "As movement of trucks is yet to begin all our products are here. If we don't transport tea soon will have to face at least 40% loss of cash revenue." The tea growers are also facing shortage of labourers due to the lockdown. Most of the products are exported to European countries but initially the tea company has to send it to Kolkata for auction and that too in April. Tea companies are waiting for April 20, as central government gave some relief to agriculture sector to be functional from the date.

Kejriwal said, "Some countries have used plasma technology for testing of coronavirus and it gave good results. If plasma technology is used for coronavirus serious patients, it has been observed that their chances of survival increase. We sought permission for its trial from Central Government and they have permitted us for the trial. And, in next 3-4 days, our doctors will try this technology.
