Delhi violence a reflection on total failure of Central govt: Manmohan Singh

New Delhi, Feb 27 (ANI): Former prime minister Manmohan Singh on February 27 led a delegation with Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and called upon President Ram Nath Kovind over Delhi violence. After meeting the President, he addressed the media and said that Delhi violence in which at least 34 people lost their lives is a matter of national shame and it's a reflection on total failure of Central Government. "We called upon President to suggest him that whatever happened in last 4 days in Delhi, is a matter of great concern," said Singh.

Delhi Police hold flag march in Delhi's Chand Bagh area, ask shopkeepers to open their shops

New Delhi, Feb 27 (ANI): Delhi Police Joint Commissioner OP Mishra held a flag march along with other police personnel in Delhi's Chand Bagh area on February 27. They overviewed the situation in the area. During flag march, OP Mishra announced, "Grocery, medical and other shops can be opened. There is nothing to fear, police are here for your security. Please don't assemble in groups, especially the youth." While speaking to ANI, OP Mishra said, "This flag march is held to bring trust. They don't need to worry or panic and police will take action against those who will create problem here." After the announcement, medical stores at Chand Bagh area started to open. One of the shopkeepers told ANI, "The situation is better now. I am trying to provide medicines to the people who have urgent requirements. Members of both communities carried out a peace march in the area to help restore normalcy."

Kejriwal should normalise Delhi situation instead of doing politics: Mayawati

New Delhi, Feb 27 (ANI): Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Thursday condemned Delhi violence and said political parties are playing dirty politics in the matter. Adding to it, she said Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should play a major role in normalising the situation instead of doing politics. She said, "In terms of Delhi violence, political parties are playing dirty politics. Centre should let police and system work freely, without any kind of interference. Delhi CM should play a major role in normalising the situation, instead of doing politics in other states."

Action must be taken against Tahir Hussain if found guilty, says Sanjay Singh

New Delhi, Feb 27 (ANI): On being asked on the allegation that AAP Councillor Tahir Hussain was involved in killing of Intelligence Bureau Officer Ankit Sharma, AAP leader Sanjay Singh on Thursday said that whosoever is involved in the killing should be strictly punished. Adding to it, he also said Hussain has already given his statement in which he said that he gave all details to police and media about mob entering his house during the violence. He said, "From the very first day, AAP has been saying that any person, be it from any party or religion, action must be taken against them if guilty. Tahir had asked police for protection. Police came 8 hours late and rescued him and his family from his house."

Coronavirus toll mounts to 2,744 in China

New Delhi, Feb 27 (ANI): Coronavirus has claimed the lives of 29 more people in China, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 2,744, Chinese health officials said. Many of the deaths were reported in Hubei province, the epicenter of the outbreak, the officials said, adding that 433 new cases were reported in China, according to NHK World. The total number of people infected with the virus in the country now stands at 78,497. According to the latest official data, over 81,200 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported worldwide. More than 30,000 people have been cured of the disease, with over 2,600 of those having been cleared in the last 24 hours.

Delhi violence: Death toll rises to 28

New Delhi, Feb 27 (ANI): 1 more death took place at Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital and 2 deaths at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) hospital, taking the total deaths to 28 in the city. Security tightened up at North-East Delhi on February 27. Police and RAF personnel have been deployed in the area to keep an eye over the situation.

Coronavirus outbreak: IAF special flight 'Globemaster' evacuates 112 people from China

Watch: Delhi Special Police Chief takes stock of situation amid violence

New Delhi, Feb 27 (ANI): Delhi Special Commissioner of Police, SN Srivastava, took stock of the situation in Northeast Delhi, where violent clashes erupted between pro and anti-CAA groups and claimed at least 27 lives till now. Security forces have been deployed at various locations in the area. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval also inspected the affected areas and took stock of the situation. Researchers uncover key details how bacteria causing typhoid fever identifies host's immune cells

New Delhi, Feb 27 (ANI): In a breakthrough study, researchers have uncovered key details as to how the Salmonella bacteria that cause typhoid fever, identify a host's immune cells and deliver toxins that disrupt the immune system and allow the pathogen to spread. The findings were published in the journal PLOS Pathogens. It provides new directions for developing treatments for typhoid fever. The Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi bacteria causes the fever which annually infects up to 21 million people worldwide and close to 6,000 people in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The disease is most common in areas with poor sanitation and unsafe water and food, including South Asia, and especially Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. The study identifies three subunits on a typhoid toxin protein, one of which is key for delivering the toxin into host cells.

The LG V60 ThinQ 5G features an upgraded 6.8-inch FHD+ P-OLED FullVision dual screen and a 360 Freestop Hinge design. The smartphone runs Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC with Snapdragon X55 5G Modem, the official release notes. It packs two rear cameras and time of flight ToF sensor array including a 64-megapixel main lens and 13-megapixel wide-angle lens, with support for 8K video recording. Policeman kicks father of deceased girl who committed suicide in Telangana

Sangareddy (Telangana), Feb 27 (ANI): In a viral video, a police constable in Telangana's Sangareddy could be seen kicking the father of a 16-yr-old girl who allegedly committed suicide in her hostel on February 24 after the college management did not allow her to go home despite her being ill. In the video, the policeman could be seen throwing his right foot at the deceased girl's father who tried to halt the coffin in which her daughter's body was being shifted. A probe has been ordered against the police personnel.

SP leader Azam Khan, wife Tanzeen Fatima, son Abdullah Azam sent to jail

Rampur (Uttar Pradesh), Feb 26 (ANI): Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan, his wife Tanzeen Fatima and their son Abdullah Azam arrested by police and have been sent to jail for seven days by a court in UP's Rampur on February 26. They warrant was issued after had been ignoring summons by the courts in various cases lodged against them. "Total 17 cases were heard against them, including violation of code of conduct and fake birth certificates. He and his family have been sent to jail till March 02," DGC Ajay Tiwari told ANI.

FM Sitharaman dismisses reports of ATMs being recalibrated to replace Rs 2,000 notes

New Delhi, Feb 26 (ANI): Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman reacted over the mystery of the disappearing Rs 2000 note, that banks are recalibrating ATMs to replace high-value Rs 2,000 notes. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, "As far as I know, no such instruction has been given to banks." On the other hand, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman directed banks to clear their pending loan cases of Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by March 15. "Banks have given us information on how many (MSMEs) they have restructured, reached out to, their loans and everything else. Few MSMEs that are lying pending before them, we have requested them to clear out all by March 15", said Finance Minister Sitharaman while addressing the press conference in New Delhi on February 26.

CM Kejriwal inspects violence hit areas of North-East Delhi
