Delhi violence: 20 dead, 189 injured till now, says GTB Hospital

New Delhi, Feb 26 (ANI): Situation in North-East district of Delhi is in control since morning of February 26. There is heavy deployment of security forces in the violence-affected areas. Brutal violence took place on February 23, which claimed 20 lives. The injured police officials have been brought to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation informed that entry and exit gates of all metro stations have been opened. While speaking to media in the national capital on February 26, the Medical Superintendent of Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, Sunil Kumar Gautam spoke on northeast Delhi violence. He said, "Out of all the people that were brought to the hospital around 189 are injured and 20 are dead."

Normalcy has returned in North East district: Delhi Police Chief

New Delhi, Feb 26 (ANI): Normalcy has returned in North East district of Delhi informed Delhi Commissioner of Police, Amulya Patnaik. He also mentioned that senior officers are keeping a close eye on the situation. "Normalcy has returned in North East district to a large extent, senior officers are on rounds, extra forces have been given and lot of confidence building measures are being taken. Things are being brought back to normal," said Amulya Patnaik.

Delhi violence: Congress demands Home Minister Amit Shah's resignation

New Delhi, Feb 26 (ANI): During a press conference held in Delhi on February 26, Congress demanded Union Home Minister Amit Shah's resignation due to the present situation in Delhi. Congress interim president, Sonia Gandhi said, "There is a conspiracy behind the violence, country also saw this during Delhi elections. Many Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders made inciting comments creating an atmosphere of fear and hatred. Centre and Delhi Government deliberately, did not take any action in last 72 hours, which resulted in death of more than 20 people, including a head constable, and hundreds are in hospital, many with gunshot injuries. Violence continues unabated on the streets of North East Delhi." "The Centre and the Union Home Minister is responsible for the present situation in Delhi. The Union Home Minister should resign," she added.

Balakot airstrike 1st anniversary: Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria lands in Srinagar after flying MiG-21

Srinagar (J and K), Feb 26 (ANI): Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria landed in Srinagar after flying MiG-21 of 51 Squadron Commanding Officer Group Captain Nazeer with two each Mirage-2000 and Sukhoi-30MKI at Srinagar airbase. It was done to mark the first anniversary of the Balakot airstrikes. This is the same unit that was activated following the Balakot airstrikes last year and Wing commander Abhinandan Varthaman was a part of it. RKS Bhadauria will also address a seminar titled 'Indian Air Force: No war, no peace' at the DRDO Bhawan on February 26.

Class 8th student attempts suicide allegedly after rape by 3 men in MP's Betul

Betul (Madhya Pradesh), Feb 26 (ANI): A class 8th student attempted suicide on February 25 allegedly after she was raped by three men. She set herself ablaze by pouring kerosene. Victim's condition is critical and she is under treatment at a hospital. ASP Betul, Shraddha Joshi said, "In dying declaration, the girl named three offenders. 2 accused have been arrested. Police is looking for the third accused."

Watch: Several miscreants thrash toll workers in Rajasthan

Karauli (Rajasthan), Feb 26 (ANI): Several miscreants allegedly thrashed the toll staff near Jamalpur village in Rajasthan's Karauli on Feb 23. Students appear for CBSE board exams in South Delhi, parents worried over North East situation

New Delhi, Feb 26 (ANI): While board exams centres remained closed in Northeast Delhi after CBSE postponement due to tensed situation, 'well-prepared' students of class 10th appeared for exam in South Delhi on February 26. Section 144 has been imposed in Northeast Delhi following clashes between groups over CAA. "I am well-prepared for my English exam today. I hope it goes well," said a student. Speaking about the situation in Northeast Delhi a parent said, "The situation is extremely bad, students are mainly facing problems as they put efforts whole year for this day."

Watch: Speeding truck turns turtle after colliding with car in J and K

Samba (J and K), Feb 26 (ANI): In a horrific incident, an onion laden truck turned turtle after colliding with a car in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba on Feb 23. Air bags of the hatchback opened on time, saving life of driver. Incident was captured on CCTV camera. The drivers of both the vehicles escaped with minor injuries. A case has been registered. Further investigation is underway.

Delhi violence: 'There's some kind of 2002 Gujarat model in Delhi', says Nawab Malik

Equities continue to tumble on global cues, metals lose shine

New Delhi, Feb 26 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices extended their decline for the fourth consecutive session during early hours on Wednesday after massive sell-offs in global markets amid concerns over coronavirus cases spreading beyond China. The BSE S and P Sensex was down by 261 points or 0.65 per cent to 40,020 while the Nifty 50 tumbled by 81 points at 11,717. All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the negative terrain with Nifty metal down by 1.32 per cent, auto by 1.14 per cent, realty by 1.02 per cent and IT by 0.94 per cent. Among stocks, Hindalco dipped by 2.3 per cent at Rs 170.35 per share while Tata Steel lost by 1.6 per cent to Rs 414.35. Sun Pharma and Cipla were down by 2.4 per cent and 2.1 per cent respectively. Tata Motors, Eicher Motors, Bharti Infratel, Wipro and GAIL traded with a negative bias. Hindustan Lever, Britannia, Dr Reddy's, Asian Paints and Power Grid Corporation were marginal gainers.

COVID-19: Afghanistan, Bahrain, Iraq and Oman report first cases

New Delhi, Feb 25 (ANI): Death toll in China jumped to 2,715, while 29,700 have been recovered. In the past 24 hours, countries including Afghanistan, Bahrain, Iraq and Oman have reported cases of COVID-19. Owing to the coronavirus outbreak, schools in Hong Kong which had remained shut over past three weeks continue to remain close. Meanwhile, 2 more Indians onboard quarantined cruise ship 'Diamond Princess' have been tested positive with COVID-19. Around 80,239 cases have been confirmed globally, according to World Health Organization report. The virus has spread to over 24 countries since December after it first case originated from China's Wuhan city.

Head Constable Rattan Lal's family demands status of martyr

Sikar (Rajasthan), Feb 26 (ANI): The family of slain Head Constable of Delhi Police Rattan Lal demanded martyr status for him. Police is trying to convince family and neighbours of Rattan Lal, who are protesting for the status of martyr. MP from Jhunjhunu, Narendra Kumar is also present. Speaking to ANI, ASP Sikar Devendra Kumar Sharma said, "We have talked to MLA and Collector. State government will send whatever recommendation can be produced." North-East Delhi violence: Situation in control amid heavy security deployment

New Delhi, Feb 26 (ANI): Situation in North-East district of Delhi was in control on morning of February 26. Heavy deployment of security forces was witnessed in affected areas. The region saw brutal violence since February 23, claiming 17 lives. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation informed that entry and exit gates at all metro stations have been opened. Violence erupted in North-East Delhi after clashes broke out between anti-CAA and pro CAA groups. Several shops have been set ablaze and cases of stone-pelting and arson have been witnessed. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on late Tuesday night visited the office of Deputy Commissioner of Police in Delhi's Seelampur to take stock of the situation.

5 dead in road accident in UP's Rampur

Rampur (UP), Feb 26 (ANI): An accident took place in UP's Rampur after a bus collided with a Bolero. Accident took place in Tehsil Shahabad of Rampur. 5 people died in the accident. Balakot airstrike 1st anniversary: We look back with satisfaction, says former IAF chief Dhanoa
