Madurai (TN), Jan 30 (ANI): Three miscreants heckled a grocery shop owner in Tamil Nadu's Madurai on January 28. They hurled kerosene bomb after the shop owner who refused to give them money. The incident was captured in a CCTV camera. 43-year-old shop owner Ganeshan has been admitted at Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai. Mishappening occurred at Teppakulam area of Madurai. The investigation by city police is underway in the case.
Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh), Jan 30 (ANI): A Hawan was performed for the sound wisdom and virtue of Shaheen Bagh protesters in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur on January 29. 'Maa Basmati Sewa Sansthan' organized this puja with the intention that almighty must show the protestors right direction. Hawan was performed in Jharna Tola Kura Ghat area of Gorakhpur. The Shaheen Bagh protest is an ongoing 24/7 sit-in protest led by Muslim women. It began with the passage of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in both houses of Parliament. The protest is ongoing since December 15, 2019 against CAA, NRC and NPR.

The ceremony was held to mark the culmination of the Republic Day festivities. New Delhi, Jan 29 (ANI): In a significant move to ensure reproductive rights to women, government increased limit on termination of pregnancy from 20 to 24 weeks. This move was aimed at discouraging informal termination of pregnancies and reducing the maternal mortality rate. Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said, "This step will be called a progressive decision." Union Cabinet has approved the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (Amendment) Bill, 2020 to amend the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act, 1971. The Bill will be introduced in the upcoming session of Parliament.
Murshidabad (West Bengal), Sitamarhi (Bihar), Jan 29 (ANI): Citizenship Amendment Act and National Register of Citizens protests continued to hit India. At least two people died in WB's Murshidabad after clash broke out between supporters of pro and anti-CAA protests. The two deceased have been identified as Anirudh Biswas and Maqbool Sheikh. The protest took place on January 28. On the other hand, 15 people got injured in Bihar's Sitamarhi between two groups- one protesting against CAA and NRC and the other supporting it. Police personnel have been deployed in the area to control the situation.

Member of Parliament from Murshidabad, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary accused TMC for the violence and said, "Locals of Saheb Nagar, were protesting peacefully against Citizenship Amendment Act. Suddenly, TMC goons attacked them with bombs."
New Delhi, Jan 29 (ANI): Delhi Police registered FIR and started an investigation on gun brandishing incident that took place at Shaheen Bagh on January 28. South East District (Delhi) DCP Chinmay Biswal said, "We've registered FIR and started an investigation. The video is being investigated, visuals are being studied. Owner of the pistol was questioned, the pistol was found to be licensed." The FIR was registered under IPC section 336 (Act endangering life or personal safety of others), section 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) and the Arms Act.
Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Jan 29 (ANI): Congress MP Shashi Tharoor will hold a 'secular march' in protest against the CAA in Thiruvananthapuram on January 29. Speaking about the march, Tharoor said, "I have called upon the public, not just one political party, but everyone in the public who feels that we should stand up in public to take back the values of Swami Vivekananda and Mahatma Gandhi to join me in protest march. This is a symbolic protest against the divisive and discriminatory policies of government of India as embodied in CAA. The entire Constitution has been built on the principle of equality. This government doesn't see India that way. Historically, they come from a different tradition. Ideologically, they have argued against the Constitution from its very adoption."
Sitapur (UP), Jan 29 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh's jail minister, Jai Kumar Singh Jaiki made a controversial statement while addressing a gathering at Seth Ram Gulam Patel Memorial Inter College in Sitapur on January 28. Jail Minister Jai Kumar Singh said, "Political leader don't have to be educated, I am a minister, I have secretary and official staff under me. I don't have to run Jail, there is a Jailer and Superintendent, who will take care of it, My work is to say that, better food should be cooked in jail."
Madurai (Tamil Nadu), Jan 29 (ANI): Novel coronavirus has become a huge problem for India at present. Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai has opened a new isolation ward. The ward has been opened as a precautionary measure against coronavirus. Dean of the hospital, Dr Sangumani said, "No case for coronavirus has been reported so far. We have opened this ward as a precautionary measure and for the welfare of patients."
New Delhi, Jan 29 (ANI): BJP president Jagat Prakash Nadda on January 29 said that the alliance of BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is the oldest and strongest. "I thank Akali Dal for supporting BJP in the Delhi elections," JP Nadda further added. Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) had earlier decided not to contest the elections in Delhi, over their differences with BJP regarding their stand on Citizenship Amendment Act.

They did drama, printed advertisements, but if anyone is responsible for the level of pollution in Delhi today then it's the inactivity of Kejriwal government. Delhi's air has poison mixed in it," said Amit Shah. "AAP had said that they will clean the water of river Yamuna. Kejriwal ji, today I challenge you to take off your shirt and take a dip in river Yamuna. You will realise the condition of the water of river Yamuna," Amit Shah further added.

Sharjeel has sedition charges against him for his 'cut off Assam from India' remark. He was arrested by Delhi Police from his hometown Jehanabad on January 28.
New Delhi, Jan 29 (ANI): Union Minister and BJP leader Prakash Javadekar reacted over the Election Commission's order to remove Minister Anurag Thakur and Member of Parliament Parvesh Sahib Singh from the list of star campaigners for Delhi elections. Prakash Javadekar said, "We will study (the order) and if necessary, present a letter and application. BJP is putting up a balanced campaign with positivity. BJP is a thinking party which takes cognisance, so I'll give a comment after studying the order." Election Commission (EC) issued notice to BJP MP Parvesh Singh for prima facie violating Model Code of Conduct (MCC). EC has given him time till 12 noon of January 30 to provide an explanation, failing which EC will take a decision on the matter.
Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Jan 29 (ANI): Kerala Assembly witnessed much drama on January 29. Speaking on it, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan said, "I have seen much worse than this when I was a member of the assembly (Uttar Pradesh)." United Democratic Front (UDF) MLAs had staged protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the state assembly. They also raised slogans against the Governor and walked out as soon as Governor Arif began to address the assembly.

In the mid of the protest, activist Tapan Bose said, 'BJP said that Pakistan is our enemy every single time. Pakistan is not an enemy country, ruling class of India and Pakistan are alike. Our armies are alike too, their army kills their people and our army kills our people, there is no difference between them.'
