Paralysed man appeals Govt to give him medical treatment or euthanasia

Banda (UP), Jan 23 (ANI): Man named Jagdish Jatov in Uttar Pradesh's Banda has been bedridden from past 12 years due to paralysis. He was unable to get Govt support due to lack of documents. He requested from the government either to give him medical treatment or grant euthanasia as he has no one to look after him. While speaking on the matter, DM Banda, Hira Lal said, "He doesn't have any documents so he couldn't avail any govt facility. SDM has sent the form to make his voter id card, and as soon as his voter id is ready, we'll make his Aadhaar card and disability certificate. Then, he will be able to avail all the facilities."

Delhi polls: CM Kejriwal tops list of making false promises, says HM Shah

New Delhi, Jan 23 (ANI): Ahead of Delhi Assembly elections, Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday mocked Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and claimed that if competition to make false promises is held in the country, then Kejriwal will definitely come first. He further said, "I've come to remind Kejriwal that you forgotten the promises you made but neither the people of Delhi nor workers of BJP have forgotten. You became CM with help of Anna Hazare but couldn't bring a law for Lokpal and when Modi ji brought it you didn't implement it here." BJP has intensified its campaign after announcing star campaigners for poll-bound Delhi.

Delhi polls: Strengthened country's law with UAPA, says JP Nadda

New Delhi, Jan 23 (ANI): Addressing a public rally in Delhi's Mehrauli area, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president JP Nadda on January 23 said that by brining The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment Act, 2019 (UAPA), BJP government strengthened country's law. He said, "We empowered NIA. Now if someone commits crime and runs away overseas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made the law so strong that the person will be brought to India and punished. Till now we couldn't get a terrorist back to India if he is a fugitive. Now after making changes in UAPA, the accused will be brought back to India and punished."

History books must highlight lives of forgotten heroes: VP Naidu on SC Bose's birth anniversary

Chennai, Jan 23 (ANI): Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu unveiled the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in Chennai of his birth anniversary on January 23. Addressing the gathering during the event, Naidu said that history textbooks must highlight life stories of freedom fighters. He said, "I feel that our history books must highlight the life stories of our national icons like Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Veer Savarkar, Subhas Chandra Bose, Lakshmi Swaminathan, Janaky Athi Nahappan who were not given due recognition." Naidu also said that some people try to portray Veer Savarkar in negative sense due to their lack of knowledge in history.

People coming from China will go through screening for coronavirus outbreak: MEA

New Delhi, Jan 23 (ANI): Ministry of External Affairs on January 23 announced that anybody coming to India from China will have to go through the screening process for coronavirus outbreak. MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said that advisory has been issued by Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and India's consulates in China. He said, "People coming from China will have to go through screening process (at airports). As far as protecting oneself while living in China is concerned, our Missions have made an effort for this there. But if you come to India you will have to go through the screening process." India screened 43 flights arriving from China at 7 different airports so far, secretary at Union Health Ministry informed on January 23.

"Women taking part in all marching contingents, but there are no separate contingents for women in the parade," said Republic Day Parade Deputy Commander Major General Alok Kacker. Republic Day Parade will have 16 Marching contingents from Army, Navy, Air Force, Paramilitary forces, coast guard, central arm unit forces, Delhi police, National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS).

There is no role of any third party in Kashmir matter, reiterates MEA

New Delhi, Jan 23 (ANI): Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar on US President Donald Trump raising Kashmir issue again, stated that there is no role for any third party in the matter. If there is any bilateral issue between India and Pakistan, it has to be discussed by both the countries under several provisions. "Our position on the Kashmir issue and third party mediation has been very clear and consistent. Let me reiterate that there is no role for any third party in this matter. If there are any bilateral issues between India and Pakistan that needs to be discussed, it should be done between the 2 countries under provisions of Shimla Agreement and Lahore Declaration. But onus is on Pak to create such conducive conditions - free from terror, hostility and violence," said Raveesh.
