Mumbai, Jan 14 (ANI): Union Minister for Railways Piyush Goyal flagged off new AC 3-tier 'Humsafar Express' train on January 14. He flagged off Madhupur (Jharkhand) - Anand Vihar (Delhi) Humsafar Express via video conferencing. The aim of the launch of this train is to provide comfortable journey to passengers. The latest train will be operated under Eastern Railway Zone of Indian Railways.

SC will hopefully reject convicts' curative petition: Nirbhaya's Mother

New Delhi, Jan 14 (ANI): While speaking to ANI, Nirbhaya's mother Asha Devi said that she is hopeful that curative petition of convicts will be rejected and all the culprits will be hanged on 22nd Jan. "They (convicts) have filed a petition (curative plea) before the Supreme Court just to stall the process. I'm very hopeful that their petition will be rejected today. They'll be hanged on 22nd January and Nirbhaya will get justice," said Nirbhaya's mother.

Chandrababu Naidu celebrates 'Bhogi', burns Rao Committee report in Vijayawada

Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh), Jan 14 (ANI): Former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Chandrababu Naidu took part in 'Bhogi' festival on January 14. It was held by Amaravati Parirakshana Samithi. The leaders burnt GN Rao Committee report, which first recommended three capitals for Andhra Pradesh. Speaking on it, Naidu said, "I am very clear. All political parties are working for the welfare of the people. Any political party cannot waste public funds. Already we have spent, Rs 10,000 crore in Amaravati. Everything is settled and already available. When chief minister changes, you cannot change the capital." 'Bhogi' marks beginning of the four-day 'Pongal' festival.

Homeless people move to night shelters in bone-chilling Delhi winters

New Delhi, Jan 14 (ANI): Delhi is reeling under cold waves. Homeless people moved to night shelters to stay warm near Kashmere Gate ISBT. These government-supported night shelters have become heaven for homeless as they are provided with free blankets and pillows. Meanwhile, air quality of national capital remained in 'poor' category. According to Air Quality Index (AQI) data, major pollutants PM 2.5 were at 248 and PM 10 was at 242 in Lodhi Road area.

'Know your Army Mela' organised in Goa

Panaji (Goa), Jan 14 (ANI): A 'Know your Army Mela' was organised at Campal Ground in Panaji ahead of the 72nd Army Day celebrations. Military and pipe band display were held at the fair. New Delhi, Jan 14 (ANI): Union Information and Broadcast Minister Prakash Javadekar reacted on the controversial book 'Aaj ke Shivaji: Narendra Modi'. He said that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a great warrior and can't be compared with anyone. "Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nothing to do with the book written by Jai Bhagwan Goyal as we never knew what he has written," said Javadekar. He further added, "Jai Bhagwan Goyal has also apologised to the people of Maharashtra and world. He has withdrawn the book. I think we should put the controversy to rest".

Canon's new robotic system lets you remotely control multiple cameras

New Delhi, Jan 14 (ANI): Canon introduced a new robotic camera system that is capable of remotely controlling select cameras and lenses. The CR-S700R system features a remote pan head that can be used to control compatible Canon EOS camera and lens for still image shooting. It is targeted at professional photographers who need to operate cameras remotely, the official release notes. A separate CR-A100 Camera Remote Application allows one to control multiple such cameras from a PC, display live-view images, trigger a camera or simultaneously shoot with multiple cameras. The Robotic Camera System and the Camera Remote Application are scheduled to be available from mid-February.

Japanese vessel 'Echigo' arrives in Tamil Nadu

Suspicious letter delivered to Pragya Thakur's residence, says 'conspiracy by enemies'

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Jan 14 (ANI): A suspicious letter was delivered at the residence of Bhopal MP Pragya Singh Thakur. Powder-like substance was also found with the letter. Police reached the spot and a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team is examining the letter. A case has been registered. While talking about it, Pragya Thakur said, "The letter is written in Urdu and some other letters were also attached with it. I have received such letters earlier too and informed the police about it, they never took any action. This is a big conspiracy by enemies of the nation".

MRP for TV channels brought down: TRAI Chairman

New Delhi, Jan 13 (ANI): While addressing a press conference, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Chairman Dr RS Sharma informed about the new prices set up for the TV channels. He said, "Under the new framework the MRP for a channel which was earlier Rs 19 has been brought down to Rs 12. Any channel less than or equal to Rs 12 will be able to be a part of the bouquet. Earlier, some of the broadcasters who were selling the same channels at Rs 5, increased its price to Rs 19. The SD or HD both which obviously were priced differently became Rs 19. So the consumer's choice was distorted," said TRAI Chairman.
