New Delhi/ Kolkata (WB), Jan 06 (ANI): Various students and teachers of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on Jan 06 protested against the attack inside the campus on evening of Jan 05. They formed a long human chain during their protest. On the other side, the students of Kolkata's Jadavpur University also protested against the JNU violence. On January 05, Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) president Aishe Ghosh and other students, teachers were allegedly attacked by masked goons at university campus. Large number of students and professors participated in the protest.
New Delhi, Jan 06 (ANI): After the Election Commission announced that the elections for Delhi Assembly will be held on February 08, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said his party will fought the elections on its performance and Aam Aadmi Party's entire campaign will be a "positive campaign". "This time people of Delhi will vote on work done. Our entire poll campaign will be a positive campaign," Kerjiwal said in a press briefing after EC announced date for Delhi polls. The single phase election in Delhi for its 70-member assembly will be held on Feb 08 while counting of votes will take place three days later on Feb 11.
New Delhi, Jan 06 (ANI): Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram condemned the violence inside Jawaharlal Nehru University campus by unknown masked miscreants. He said, "This incident is perhaps the most clinching evidence that we are rapidly descending into anarchy. It happened in the national capital in India's foremost University under the watch of Central govt, Home Minister, LG and Police Commissioner." Demanding the swift action by police, Chidambaram added, "We demand that the perpetrators of violence (JNU) be identified and arrested within 24 hours and brought to justice. We also demand that accountability on officers be fixed and action taken immediately."
New Delhi, Jan 06 (ANI): Property inside Jawaharlal Nehru University was badly damaged after the campus was attacked by masked miscreants. Several vehicles were vandalised and sharded glasses were witnessed all over the campus. More than 30 students and professors sustained injuries after campus was attacked in the evening of January 05. Injured have been admitted to AIIMS. Speaking to mediapersons, Devender Arya, DCP of South West Delhi said, "We are invoking all possible methods of investigation. We are keeping an eye on videos and messages being circulated on social media. We will do the identification soon."

New Delhi, Jan 06 (ANI): Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday slammed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress for misleading the minorities of the country on Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA). He said, "AAP and Congress, especially Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are misleading the minorities of the country. Nobody's citizenship will be revoked under CAA, it's an act to give citizenship. New Delhi, Jan 06 (ANI): CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury on JNU violence asserted that it was a pre-planned attack by the outsiders. "It is clearly a pre-planned attack from outsiders. For five hours nearly, the VC was not responding. We demand that VC should be removed from his position," said Sitaram Yechury.
New Delhi, 06 January (ANI): During performing night corridor, patrolling police team noticed that one person was removing some items in suspicious condition from a car in Dwarka area. On noticing this, they went near the car and noticed that four to five cartons of illicit liquor were on the ground and few cartons of illicit liquor were in the car. On this, constables reloaded the illicit liquor back to the car and directed them to come with them to police station for legal action. In the meantime, a Scorpio car with six persons came there. They stopped the car and started assaulting both the constables. They even tried to snatch service pistol from them. They are torturing the students and professor and it is very disturbing, it is a dangerous planted attack on democracy. New Delhi, Jan 06 (ANI): Oil and gold prices continued surging on Monday as escalating tensions in the Middle East fanned worries about disruption to global oil supplies, sending investors scurrying to safer investments. Brent crude oil soared past 70 dollars a barrel, rising by more than 2 per cent on Monday, while West Texas Intermediate crude rose by 1.8 per cent to 64.21 dollars. New Delhi, Jan 06 (ANI): While speaking to ANI in Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Chief Proctor, Dhananjay Singh on Monday said that it is very unfortunate that there has been unabated violence in the University. He said, "We had a very good meeting today with the secretary of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). Efforts are on to normalise the University." On Sunday evening, more than 18 students of the university, including JNUSU President Aishe Ghosh, were injured and were taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre after a masked mob entered the JNU campus and attacked them and professors.

Bengaluru, Jan 06 (ANI): Protesters in Bengaluru staged their outrage against the JNU violence on January 06. The protest was staged at Bengaluru's Town Hall. Several masked goons allegedly entered the JNU campus and injured the students and professors including JNUSU president. They also caused destruction to the property. Security was tightened at the campus soon after the incident.
Chirang (Assam), Jan 06 (ANI): A wanted National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) cadre was neutralised by security forces in Assam's Chirang. Guns and cash were recovered from him. A case has been registered. Further investigation and search operation is underway in the area.
