Districts of Uttarakhand covered with thick layer of snow

Pithoragarh, Chamoli (Uttarakhand), Jan 02 (ANI): Parts of Uttarakhand received heavy snowfall on Jan 02. Munsyari area was covered with thick layer snow. Chamoli also received fresh snowfall. Ahmedabad Zoo makes special arrangements to keep animals warm

Sai Deepak sets new Guinness World Records for most side lunges

Hyderabad (Telangana), Jan 02 (ANI): B Sai Deepak has set a Guinness World Records for most side lunges in 60 seconds. Deepak scripted the record by doing 59 side lunges in 60 seconds, which is his fourth overall Guinness World Records. The previous record was held by Pakistan national Irfan Mehsood. The 23-year-old dedicated his achievement to the martyrs. "Currently I hold four Guinness World Records for India. I took 3-4 months to break previous record," he told ANI.

8 more children die in Kota hospital, toll rises to 100 in Dec

Kota (Rajasthan), Jan 02 (ANI): Eight more new-born infants died at a JK Lon hospital in Kota in the past two days taking the total toll of children who died in the hospital last month to 100. Speaking to media persons, Dr Amrit Lal Bairwa, who heads the Pediatric Department at JK Lone Hospital, said, "8 newborns have died due to various reasons in the last two days. There have been 100 deaths in the month of December."

Rajasthan Education Board rejects examination form of Hindu refugee from Pakistan

Jodhpur (Rajasthan), Jan 01 (ANI): A Hindu refugee from Pakistan, Dima fighting a battle for education in Rajasthan's Jodhpur. The Board of Secondary Education in Rajasthan rejected her application. In 2018, Dima came to India from Pakistan's Sindh. She started living in Anganwa refugee camp around 20km away from Jodhpur. Later, she got admission in 11th standard in a local school. But now, this year board refused to gave her permission to sit in examinations as she is not eligible. However, the family had shown the migration certificate to the school. Dima's father said, "We came here for the betterment of our children, if they can't study, then what's the point of living here." On the other side, Convenor of Seemant Lok Sangathan, Hindu Singh Sodha said that in 2012, the Central government and Rajasthan government itself had issued a circular in favour of such students given their special circumstances.

Bound to follow mandate of Constitution, says RS Prasad to states against Citizenship Amendment Act

New Delhi, Jan 01 (ANI): Union Law and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on January 01 slammed the state governments which are raising their voices against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). He reminded Indian Constitution articles like 245, 246, etc and said that there is a Constitutional obligation on every state to exercise the executive power in such a way that ensures compliance with laws made by Parliament. Equity indices close in green, Adani Ports gains by 3.1%

New Delhi, Jan 01 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices traded range-bound but closed in the green as investors contemplated stock-specific action on the first trading session of the calendar year 2020. The BSE SandP Sensex closed 52 points up at 41,306 while the Nifty 50 edged higher by 21 points at 12,190. Sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) were mixed a day after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a Rs 102 lakh crore infrastructure pipeline project for the next five years at a time when overall economic growth is slowing. Among stocks, Adani Ports was the top winner with an intra-day gain of 3.13 per cent to Rs 377.45 per share. Power Grid Corporation gained by 2.8 per cent while NTPC ticked up by 2.1 per cent. The other prominent gainers were Vedanta, Bharti Infratel, Infosys, Mahindra and Mahindra, HDFC, Larsen and Toubro and Hindustan Lever. Panchkula Municipal Corporation equips sanitation workers with GPS watch to ensure attendance

Panchkula (Haryana), Jan 01 (ANI): Panchkula Municipal Corporation has provided Global Positioning System (GPS) watches to its sanitation staff. This initiative was launched in order to track its sanitation employees on a real-time basis so as to ensure that they do not skip their work during duty hours. GPS watches give their precise location. New Delhi, Jan 01(ANI): Non-Subsidized Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) price hiked by Rs 19 per cylinder on January 1. The woman who manages the household showed their disapproval to the decision and urged government to take cognizance of it. The price of non-subsidised liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has been hiked by Rs 19 per cylinder. With effect from January 1, 2020, the non-subsidised LPG rates have been revised to Rs 714 per cylinder in Delhi and Rs 684.50 in Mumbai. Government provides a subsidy quota of 12 cylinders of 14.2 Kgs every each per household in a year.The consumer has to make any additional purchases at the market price once this quota is exhausted. It may be noted that state-run fuel retailers change the rates of LPG cylinder every month based on international benchmark rates.
