New Delhi, Dec 31 (ANI): Temperature in the national capital is dipping day by day. Homeless people were left with no other option but to sleep on the footpath at Hanuman Mandir in Delhi's Connaught place area. Delhi had experienced its coldest day since 1901, on Monday (December 30). The maximum temperature in Delhi on Monday was just 9.4 degrees Celsius.
Kedarnath (Uttarakhand), Dec 31 (ANI): A team of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) on Monday (December 30) rescued a 22-year-old Japanese trekker from Chani Camp near Uttarakhand's Kedarnath where the foreign tourist had developed an inability of walking after getting injured at a camp there. The officials of SDRF gave him first-aid and then were seen taking the Japanese trekker on a stretcher to a nearby hospital.
Guwahati (Assam), Dec 31 (ANI): In view of the chilly weather, special arrangements have been made at the Assam State Zoo Cum Botanical Garden in Guwahati for the animals. Heating facilities have been installed in the enclosure for tigers and lions. Paddy straws have been put in place for deer and other animals. While speaking to ANI, Tejas Mariswamy, Divisional Forest Officer, Assam State Zoo, said, "This year, the weather is as cold as a comparison to last year, so we took precautions for the animals. We have provided many facilities so they can keep themselves warm."
Panchkula (Haryana), Dec 31 (ANI): A Class 11 student from Harayana's Panchkula has been invited by the central government to attend the Republic Day event on January 26 with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Hiteshwar Sharma is among the 100 meritorious students who have been invited to view the Republic Day parade from the PM's box. Hiteshwar, who is the son of a Haryana civil services officer, had scored 99.6 percent marks in his Class 10 exams, and will now share space with the PM in the national capital on January 26.

New Delhi, Dec 30 (ANI): A minor fire which broke out near Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence at Lok Kalyan Marg around 7:25 pm on December 30 was brought under control. Nine fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames. No injuries have been reported so far. PMO confirmed the news and tweeted, "There was a minor fire at 9, Lok Kalyan Marg caused by a short circuit. This was not in PM's residential or office area but in the SPG reception area of the LKM complex."
New Delhi, Dec 30 (ANI): Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad launched the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) system to facilitate blocking and tracing of stolen or lost mobile phones in Delhi on December 30. Delhi Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Anil Baijal, Telecom Secretary Anshu Prakash, and Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik were also present at the launch. CEIR acts as a central system for all network operators to share blacklisted mobile devices so that devices blacklisted in one network will not work on other networks even if the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card in the device is changed, as per a statement on the CEIR website. While addressing during an event in the national capital on December 30, the Minister of Communications, Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "We have taken a decision on 5G trials. 5G is the future." "We will encourage new innovations. All operators can participate in the 5G trials," he added.
