Extremely tensed environment, winter vacations declared in view of situation: AMU registrar on CAA protest

Aligarh (UP), Dec 16 (ANI): Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Registrar, Abdul Hamid stated that the situation is extremely tensed around. He informed that winter vacations have been declared in view of the current situation. "The situation in the campus is tensed, some boys and anti-socials elements came and pelted stones, so we have requested police to take action to control the situation," said the registrar. "In view of the current situation, we have declared winter vacations today onwards. University will reopen on January 5 and examinations will be held after that," he further added. Detained students released from Kalkaji, New Friends Colony: Delhi Police PRO

New Delhi, Dec 16 (ANI): Delhi Police PRO MS Randhawa informed that the detained students have been released from Kalkaji and New Friends Colony police stations. Earlier, Delhi Minorities Commission had issued an emergency order to the SHO Kalkaji Police Station to release the injured students of Jamia Millia Islamia University or to take them without any delay for treatment to a hospital. The midnight protest carried outside Delhi Police Headquarters was called off by students.

Police entered JMI's campus without permission: Vice Chancellor

New Delhi, Dec 16 (ANI): Professor Najma Akhtar, Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia narrated the incident that took place in the university and asserted that the police entered the campus without permission. Speaking to ANI, Najma Akhtar said, "Students of Jamia didn't give call for today's protest. I've been told that a call was given from colonies nearby Jamia to march towards Jullena. They clashed with police and got inside campus after breaking gate of the University." "Police couldn't differentiate between the protesters and students sitting in the library. Many students and staff were injured. There was so much ruckus that police couldn't take permission," she further added.

'Happy Fridge' set up to feed needy in Odisha

Researchers find brain circuit linked to eating disorders

New Delhi, Dec 16 (ANI): Researchers have found that over-eating could be controlled through a brain circuit linked to feasting. The state of impulsivity has been linked to eating disorders that can lead to threats like that of obesity, which later can have several psychiatric disorders including drug addiction. A study on this can possibly make scientists develop certain therapeutics to address the issue of over-eating. A team that includes a faculty member at the University of Georgia has now identified a specific circuit in the brain that alters food impulsivity. The team's findings were published recently in the journal Nature Communications. Emily Noble, an assistant professor in the UGA College of Family and Consumer Sciences who served as lead author on the paper said: "There is underlying physiology in your brain that is regulating your capacity to say no to. In experimental models, you can activate that circuitry and get a specific behavioural response." The study noticed that

All airports in North-East functional, only few flights cancelled: AAI

Delegation of PMC account holders meets CM Uddhav

Mumbai, Dec 15 (ANI): A delegation of Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative (PMC) Bank met Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on December 15.
