Stubble burning continues in Haryana's Kurukshetra

Kurukshetra (Haryana), Oct 17 (ANI): Nothing seems to have changed for the farmers in Haryana's Kurukshetra as almost all of them still rely on fire to get rid of the leftover stubble and loose straw after paddy is harvested. Latest visuals came from Kurukshetra's Shahabad Markanda where farmers are burning harvest remains. Every year between October and November, air quality deteriorates in Delhi and its neighbouring states, as farmers burn the residue after harvesting paddy to clear the fields and make way for the sowing of wheat, despite there being a ban on burning agricultural residue. The National Green Tribunal in the order passed on (10.12.2015), directed and prohibited agricultural residue burning in any part of the NCT of Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
