The bench began hearing in Mumbai on Aarey Forest tree felling case, meanwhile, Security was beefed up in Aarey colony. 29 protesters were released from Thane jail after bail was granted to them yesterday. They were arrested from Aarey on charges of disturbing public order and obstructing government officials from performing their duties. The felling began Friday night, hours after the Bombay High Court dismissed four petitions challenging the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) permission to cut 2,646 trees on 33 hectares of land at Aarey for the construction of a Metro Line 3 rake depot.

Jalgaon (Maharashtra), Oct 07 (ANI): Five persons were killed after some unidentified persons opened fire at a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and his family members in Jalgaon district's Bhusawal city in Maharashtra on October 06. While speaking to media, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Bhusawal Panjabrao Ugale said, "Some unidentified persons killed BJP leader Ravindra Kharat, his brother Sunil Kharat, sons Rohit and Prem Sagar and a friend Sumit Fedre outside their residence in Bhusawal." The incident took place around 9:30 pm, in which two persons were killed on the spot while three died while being taken to a hospital. According to the police, the assailants used guns and knives in the attack and then fled the spot. "Prima facia it looks like a case of a personal dispute. We have detained three persons in the matter. The accused have also sustained some injuries and are being treated at a hospital," SP Ugale added. Police are further investigating the matter.

A team of engineers at Purdue University has been conducting one of the largest studies of its kind in the office spaces of a building rigged with thousands of sensors. The goal is to identify all types of indoor air contaminants and recommend ways to control them through how a building is designed and operated. New Delhi, Oct 07 (ANI): Google is reportedly shutting down its field research program that offered subjects USD 5 gift certificate in exchange for a scan of their face. The decision comes after it was discovered that one Google contracting agency was targeting homeless people in Atlanta and tricking college students into participating, The Verge reports. The idea behind the research was to ensure the upcoming Pixel 4's Face Unlock feature would recognise a diverse array of faces, and prevent it from being biased towards people of colour. Google said that it immediately suspended the program after learning about the abuse of the program.
