'Bhojan Bank', unique initiative by Kanpur locals to provide free meal to destitute

Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), Sep 24 (ANI): In India around 200 million people are undernourished who comprise of almost 15 per cent of country's total population. To combat this issue on a small but significant level, a unique initiative 'Bhojan Bank' has started in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur. 'Bhojan Bank Seva Samiti' promotes donating 'roti' or bread to poor people instead of giving money. This organisation collects money, grains and other items through which poor people are provided with nutritious food. Locals of Kanpur have joined the cause to provide food to beggars. Organisation is taking up this social work on a weekly basis for now but they soon want to make it a daily service.

Case to be solved soon: Delhi Police over woman journalist phone snatching case

New Delhi, Sep 24 (ANI): Delhi Police PRO, MS Randhawa spoke on the case where a woman journalist was attacked by chain snatchers in CR Park area of national capital on Sept 23. MS Randhawa said, "We've formed teams and recovered some CCTV footage. Accused will be arrested soon. Some snatchers are being rounded up. Dossiers are being shown to complainant. Case will be solved soon."

Delhi couple alleges police inaction in chain snatching case

New Delhi, Sep 24 (ANI): A couple in Delhi on Tuesday alleged police inaction in a chain snatching case. The chain snatching incident happened on 20 September in Delhi's Connaught Place (CP). While speaking to ANI, The complainant, Amrita said, "It was horrifying night for me. We still not find any result in that case. Police is not taking any action in the matter." "The incident happened in CP. We gave us our gold chain still they chased us. No CCTV cameras were there no bike patrolling were there," said complainant's husband, Vinod Singh Bhandari told to ANI.

Bajrang Punia eyeing for Olympics after controversial semi-final defeat at World Championships

New Delhi, Sep 24 (ANI): Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia had to settle for bronze after debatable judgment in semi finals by referee in 2019 World Wrestling Championships. Punia said that he is happy that he bagged a bronze medal but there is a sorrow as well of not grabbing gold medal. Talking about the decision of his duel against Kazakh opponent Daulet Niyazbekov, he said that he can't change the decision of the referee. "Referees should consider that it is the question of athlete's career, in wrestling we sacrifice many things, and referees should not do injustice with anyone," he added. Pak has no 'democratic credentials' to raise Kashmir issue in UNGA: Exiled PoK Leader

Geneva (Switzerland), Sep 24 (ANI): United Kashmir People's National Party Chairman Shaukat Ali Kashmiri on September 24 reacted on Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to raise Kashmir issue in United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). He said that Pakistan has always been treated as an illegal occupier of area near Kashmir. "India and Pakistan has nuclear deterrence and it is a threat to the world and UNGA is more concerned about that and Imran Khan's speech can't impress them," said Kashmiri. UKPNP Chairman added that there should be some democratic credentials to raise the any issue in UNGA and Pak doesn't have any democratic credentials. HM Amit Shah launches portal for private security agency licencing

New Delhi, Sep 24 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a government web portal to help private security agencies get the licence at a function here on Tuesday. 'Private Security Agency Licensing Portal' will help private agencies in police verification of security guards, expand their business across the country apart from providing other facilities. Speaking at the launch event at Ambedkar International Centre, Shah said the portal will reduce formalities to get the licence and expand the business. "It will help you expand your business. I believe this portal will help you in a great way and give multi-dimensional speed to the industry," he said. The portal, Shah said, will be available in several Indian languages within 90 days and more facilities will be added to it on a later stage. Private Security Agency Licensing Portal has police data of all state and cover over 90 per cent police stations, he said.

Madurai Corporation seizes plastic bags from flower market, fines 2 shop owners

Madurai (Tamil Nadu), Sep 24 (ANI): The Madurai Corporation has conducted a surprise check at a flower market in the city on September 24. They have seized around 100 kg of plastic bags from the flower market. The surprise check was conducted near MGR bus stand in Madurai. Fine of Rs 25000 each has been imposed on two shop owners of the market. Single-use plastics are often referred to as disposal items that are used for packaging and include items intended for use only once. The Centre gave advisory to the states to ban production of certain kinds of articles of single-use plastic before October 02. The deadline was set by the Prime Minister for the citizens to give up the single-use plastic. The most common single-use plastics found are carry bags, drinking bottles, plastic bottle caps, food wrappers, plastic grocery bags, plastic sachets etc.
