Rajkot (Gujarat), Sep 21 (ANI): Ahead of the Navratri festival, 'garba' pots are being made up in large numbers in Gujarat's Rajkot. The festival is celebrated with lot of fanfare and excitement as the nine days are dedicated to Goddess Durga's nine avatars which are considered very auspicious. An artist has printed message of abrogation of Article 370 on the 'garba' pots in Rajkot. The aim behind creating this design on earthen pots is that people should live with unity. In several parts of India, Navratri has different significance. On each day, a different form of Goddess Durga is worshipped during Navratri. This year Navratri is starting from September 29. Hindus worship Goddess Durga and all her feminine aspects of divine femininity over nine days and nine nights.
Puri (Odisha)/ New Delhi, Sep 21 (ANI): Aiming at cleaning rivers, a cleanliness drive was organised at Yamuna Ghat on September 21. The cleanliness drive was executed near Kalindi Kunj on World Cleanup Day, today. Director General of 'Namami Gange Programme' Rajiv Ranjan Mishra was also present. Meanwhile, world's largest coastal cleanup campaign started at Puri beach.
Gurugram (Haryana), Sep 21 (ANI): The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram has installed two machines in the city to deposit plastic bottles for recycling. In the machine, people can drop the waste item and can also get incentives like coupons of Paytm. Single-use plastics are often referred to as disposal items that are used for packaging and include items intended for use only once. While speaking to ANI, Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram, Amit Khatri said, "In exchange of plastic waste, people to be given incentives like Paytm coupons." "Our aim is to avoid use of single use plastic," he added. The Centre gave advisory to the states to ban production of certain kinds of articles of single-use plastic before October 02. The deadline was set by the Prime Minister for the citizens to give up single-use plastic. The most common single-use plastics found are carry bags, drinking bottles, plastic bottle caps, food wrappers, plastic grocery bags, plastic sachets etc.
New Delhi, Sep 21 (ANI): Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu called upon the people to learn as many languages as possible and asserted that there should not be the imposition of any language, nor should there be opposition to any particular language. Interacting with the students from of a Karnataka school, who had returned recently after visiting National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and other places in the United States, Naidu stressed that India was blessed with many languages and asked students and teachers to give importance to promoting mother tongue, while learning other languages. Describing travelling as a form of education and good learning experience, the Vice President advised the students to visit all the major tourist places within India to get acquainted with various facets of India's culture, heritage, languages and cuisine and enhance their understanding of India's unique cultural mosaic. "Before going out, look within and enhance your knowledge," he added.
Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Sep 21 (ANI): The police destroyed 63,879 kg of cannabis at Kapuluppada dumping yard in Visakhapatnam. The cannabis was worth Rs 13 crore. Drug Disposal Committee was also present on the spot. Police got legal nod to destroy drugs from the state government.
Noida (UP), Sep 21 (ANI): A large group of farmers from various parts of western Uttar Pradesh gathered in Noida on September 20. They will march to Kisan Ghat in Delhi on September 21. Their aim is to draw attention of the Uttar Pradesh government towards the money owed by them through sugarcane sales and rising electricity rates.
New Delhi, Sep 21 (ANI): In a recent study, it has been found that girls born to the mothers who smoke during pregnancy will exhibit signs of increased testosterone exposure, which may affect their hormone and reproductive function in future. The findings of this study suggest that smoking is an endocrine disruptor that can masculinise girls in the womb and that daughter of women that smoked during pregnancy may suffer from hormonal and reproductive health problems in the long-term. Smoking during pregnancy is widely considered bad for the health both for the mother and baby, yet some women persist and many are exposed to passive smoking. In addition to the many toxins present in cigarette smoke, it is also suspected of having endocrine-disrupting properties that may increase testosterone levels. Baby girls exposed to higher levels of the male hormone, testosterone, in the womb are at greater risk of abnormal development and long-term negative effects on their fertility and metabolism.
Geneva (Switzerland), Sep 21 (ANI): Spiritual leader Haji Syed Salman Chishty of Ajmer Sharif has categorically asked the people of Jammu and Kashmir to embrace an opportunity after the abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35(A) for the prosperity of their coming generations. Speaking to ANI after addressing an event at University of Geneva, Chishty said, "It's an opportunity and it's a way where every Kashmiri should come forward and contribute and embrace this opportunity for the sake of their own children, for their children's future and for the sake of Kashmir to be prosperous". Dumka (Jharkhand), Sep 21 (ANI): Chief Minister of Jharkhand Raghubar Das attended a public meeting at Shikarpara area in Jharkhand's Dumka. He said, "Public is the real boss in democracy. Lucknow (UP), Sep 21 (ANI): A major fire engulfed at a branch of Federal Bank in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow. The fire erupted at a cash counter. A fire brigade vehicle arrived to extinguish the flames. The reason behind the fire is still unknown.
Ghaziabad (UP), Sep 21 (ANI): Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) set up homes for birds in housing societies. They installed towers in housing societies that have wooden boxes for birds to build nests inside them. They built around 60 flats for the birds to live in. These flats are fully-furnished with an add-on swimming pool for birds. GDA took the inspiration from Jaipur and the aim is to increase the population of the birds in urban area.

New Delhi, Sep 20 (ANI): Congress veteran leader Jairam Ramesh on September 20 backed party leader P Chidambaram on INX media case. Accusing the BJP party for doing conspiracy against the former finance minister he said Chidambaram signed the INX Media file on 28 may 2007, on the same day 11 officials also signed the file and investigating agencies didn't raise any finger to the officials except Chidambaram. He asked that if 11 officials are innocent then how Chidambaram can found guilty. Judicial custody of Chidambaram was extended till October 3 by special court in INX Media case on September 19.

Haldia (WB), Sep 20 (ANI): At least 10 people were injured after a fire broke out at Naphtha Cracker Unit of Haldia Petrochemicals in Kolkata on September 20. The fire took place around 11:45 am and since then fire tenders have been attempting to douse the blaze. The injured have been sent to Kolkata for treatment. More details are awaited.

Patna (Bihar), Sep 20 (ANI): Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on September 20 slammed Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over deteriorated health index. Showing the list of Niti Ayog he said that state's situation is very critical and Bihar is dealing with worst health crisis. "Bihar is the second worst performing state in the country in the second edition of the health index analysis by the Niti Ayog," said Yadav. Referring to Niti Ayog's health index list he asked CM Kumar how this happens in his 15 years of regime.
