J&K Elections 2024 | Never in India’s history has a state been made a UT: Rahul Gandhi

While campaigning at Shalteng assembly constituency in Srinagar, Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, “In India, Union Territories were made states. States were divided: Madhya Pradesh was divided to form Chhattisgarh, Bihar was divided to form Jharkhand, and Andhra Pradesh was divided to form Telangana. But never in the history of India has a state been made a Union Territory.”
