New Delhi, May 12 (ANI): A Southwest Research Institute scientist has modelled the atmosphere of Mars to help determine that salty pockets of water present on the Red Planet are likely not habitable by life as we know it on the Earth. A team that also included scientists from Universities Space Research Association (USRA) and the University of Arkansas helped allay planetary protection concerns about contaminating potential Martian ecosystems. These results were published this month in Nature Astronomy. Due to Mars' low temperatures and extremely dry conditions, a droplet of liquid water on its surface would instantly freeze, boil or evaporate, unless the droplet had dissolved salts in it. This brine would have a lower freezing temperature and would evaporate more slowly than pure liquid water. Salts are found across Mars, so brines could form there. Bengaluru (Karnataka), May 12 (ANI): A constituent of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) has developed a Non-Invasive BiPAP Ventilator in a record time of 36 days to treat COVID-19 patients in Bengaluru. According to NAL, it is a microcontroller-based precise closed-loop adaptive control system with a built-in biocompatible '3D printed manifold and coupler' with HEPA filter (Highly Efficient Particulate Air Filter). These unique features help to alleviate the fear of the virus spread.
New Delhi, May 12 (ANI): In order to solve the problem of disinfecting larger places, a team of AIIMS, IIT and Stanford alumnus have developed an innovative technology named "Airlens Minus Corona" The device will go to hospitals, bus stops, railway stations, shopping malls and other public places to sterilise the surfaces with water based technology which is not only cost efficient but also safer. The technology works on the basis of electrification of particles. "The charged or ionised water droplets will kill the virus by killing its proteins and hence making it inefficient," Stanford alumnus Shashi Ranjan told ANI. "Such ionised water droplets can help in the oxidation of viral proteins into non-harmful molecules. Oxidation is one of the most potent antimicrobial tools," Ranjan said. Ranchi (Jharkhand), May 12 (ANI): Jharkhand govt launched Driver and Transport Safety Campaign to combat COVID-19 pandemic on May 11 in Ranchi. Minister of Department of Transport, Champai Soren was present at the event. The minister also released the "Driver Safety Guide for the Prevention of Corona Virus (COVID-19)" and distributed the Corona Safety Tool Kit among drivers and assistants at project building today. The campaign is being run by the Jharkhand State Transport Department to provide information to the vehicle owners, drivers and general public about the prevention from COVID-19. The guide issued by the department tells about the importance of maintaining social distance, washing hands regularly, using masks and sanitizing the vehicle. The objective is to spread awareness among the people. Transport Department officials and employees were also present on the occasion.

Chennai (Tamil Nadu), May 12 (ANI): The total number of 180 Indian nationals arrived in Chennai from Malaysia. The repatriation took place under the 'Vandhe Bharat Mission' in the view of coronavirus pandemic. The Indian nationals were tested for coronavirus infection at the airport. They we will quarantine for 14 days as per the Ministry of Home Affairs guidelines to prevent spread the virus. The 'Vandhe Bharat Mission' was started on May 07 to repatriate stranded Indians from aboard amid the global lockdown.
Ranchi (Jharkhand), May 12 (ANI): The chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren urged the Centre for tax reform to fight COVID-19 pandemic. He said, "Our state is totally depended on Central Government for resources during the coronavirus pandemic. Centre may do some amendment in current tax policy, so that states can gather their own revenue." The Chief Minister also raised concern over the safety and security of migrant workers who are returning back to their home state amid the uncertainty. Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), May 12 (ANI): Malihabad's farmers in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow are now facing another hurdle due to sudden change in weather on Sunday. The mango cultivation got affected by the strong wind. Around 40% crops have been damaged in a single day. The farmers said that they are going to face huge loss. On one hand farmers are not able to sell their crop due to the coronavirus lockdown and on the other hand now, the storm has damaged the crops. "Discharge policy has been changed because several countries have changed their policy from test-based strategy to symptom and time-based strategy. We have also changed it based on this. New Delhi, May 11 (ANI): Joint Secretary in the Home Ministry, Punya Salila Srivastava, on May 11 informed about the latest development on Centre's Vande Bharat Mission under which government is bringing stranded citizens home from abroad. Briefing about the numbers, she said that around 4,000 Indians have been brought back by 23 flights under the mission. "Over 5 lakh migrant workers have been sent to their home states by 468 special trains. 101 special trains were run yesterday," said Srivastava.
