Idukki (Kerala), Apr 13 (ANI): Wild animals are taking advantage of the empty streets in cities due to coronavirus lockdown by roaming freely. In Munnar region of Idukki district elephants were seen strolling in the streets and even entering residential areas. The enforcement of lockdown to stop the spread of Coronavirus has resulted in complete absence of any human activity in the region. On Saturday, a wild elephant entered the residential area of the region and caused damaged to the crops. The locals have also named him ' Padayappa' as the animal has become their regular visitor.
Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Apr 13 (ANI): Locals of Shah-e-Alam area expressed their gratitude towards Ahmedabad Police by clapping and showering flower petals on them. Few months back during NRC, CAA protests, people pelted stones on police in this area only. They were getting praised for their work in the same area today.
Amritsar (Punjab), Apr 13 (ANI): Amritsar Administration and Health Department on April 12 initiated door-to-door COVID-19 pilot screening. Under, Amritsar Pilot project, the screening started from the areas which witnessed deaths of two people due to coronavirus pandemic. This also included areas where corona positive cases have been reported. 42 teams with 2 members each is dedicated to carry out screening tests in the corona prone areas. Anyone found with corona symptoms, will be sent for quarantine. Amid the pilot test, administration will review their strategy and will make the required changes.
Bhadohi (Uttar Pradesh), Apr 13 (ANI): Amid an alleged argument with her husband, mother in Bhadohi threw her 5 kids into river Ganga. Manju had 2 sons and 3 daughters, eldest daughter was 12-year-old, while the youngest one was 5-year-old. She threw her kids into the river at around 2:30am. After getting information from locals and relatives, police reached the place of the incident to rescue the kids with the help of divers. The rescue operation is underway.
Sri Ganganagar (Rajasthan), Apr 13(ANI): Amid Mumbai residing lady's request to PM Modi asking for camel's milk in order to feed her son, Indian Railways arranged delivery of 20 litre of Camel milk from Rajasthan to Mumbai through parcel train. Irrespective of nationwide lockdown, the authorities ensured successful delivery. The 'Special child' could only consume pulses and camel's milk. North-West Railway CPRO Abhay Sharma said, "It was a great example of collaboration across geographies for social good, It also shows that Indian Railways is forever ready to serve the people."
New Delhi, Apr 12 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on April 12 informed that auto drivers, taxi-drivers, gramin seva drivers will get Rs. 5,000 by April 13. The conditions will be they should have valid driving license they also have valid current badge. The drivers have to provide their bank account number on Delhi transport department website.
Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Apr 12 (ANI): Tamil Nadu has reported106 new positive cases of coronavirus pandemic on April 12. "106 new positive cases reported in Tamil Nadu today, of which 90 persons are from 'single source conduct'. Total number of positive cases rises to 1075 in the state," said Tamil Nadu's Health Secretary Beela Rajesh while talking to ANI.
New Delhi, Apr 12 (ANI): Central government has approved release of Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) for 13 countries. While speaking in regular health bulletin in New Delhi in the wake of pandemic coronavirus, Principal Spokesperson of Central government, KS Dhatwalia said, "Some countries had requested India for supply of HCQ (Hydroxychloroquine). After making an assessment of domestic requirement and keeping the buffer, government has approved release of HCQ for 13 countries." Earlier, India exported the anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine to the United States. It is said that hydroxychloroquine, an anti-malarial drug deemed to be useful in dealing with COVID-19.
New Delhi, Apr 12 (ANI): Ministry of Home Affairs Joint Secretary (Women Safety) Punya Salila Srivastava on April 12 suggested some tips for the people working from home during nationwide lockdown. She suggested people to follow 'Cyber Dost' twitter handle for the precautionary measures against cyber security. National Cyber Crime portal https://cybercrime.gov.in/ is also available to report against cyber crime, Srivastava added.

Almost 1,50,000 liters of sanitizer production is being done on daily basis and almost 11 lakh liters of sanitizer is being produced and distributed in the state.

Due to the shelling, fire engulfed a house. The incident took place on April 12. Also, Pakistan violated ceasefire at Kerani sector in Poonch district.

New Delhi, Apr 12 (ANI): Delhi's AIIMS is planning to start plasma therapy on COVID-19 patients. Director Randeep Guleria explained how plasma therapy works in treatment of COVID-19 patients. While talking to ANI, Randeep Guleria said, "Plasma from blood of a person who recovered from COVID-19 is taken and then plasma's anti-bodies are transfused into another patient's blood which boosts their immune system."
New Delhi, Apr 12 (ANI): The Union Health Ministry on said that there are 1 lakh 5 thousand beds in dedicated 601 COVID hospitals. While addressing the regular health bulletin in the wake of pandemic, Joint Secretary of Health Ministry, Lav Agarwal said, "As per 9th April data, if we needed 1,100 beds we had 85,000 beds. Today when we need 1,671 beds, then we have 1 lakh 5 thousand beds in the dedicated 601 COVID hospitals."The government is increasing the number isolation beds and dedicated COVID hospitals.
New Delhi, Apr 12 (ANI): Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is conducting Yoga classes for Italy evacuees staying at their quarantine centre in Chhawla. These evacuees have come from Milan and Rome. ITBP instructors are organising these classes. The total positive cases of COVID-19 have mounted to 7367 in the country so far.
Budgam (Jammu and Kashmir), Apr 12 (ANI): In a bid to provide essential items amid coronavirus lockdown, 53 Rashtriya Rifles personnel of the Indian Army distributed essential commodities among the needy in Budgam. Army personnel also asked people to maintain social distancing and follow lockdown rules. The food distribution is a part of 'Operation Namaste' campaign. As of now, the total positive cases of COVID-19 have mounted to 207 with 4 deaths and 6 people have been cured.
New Delhi, Apr 12 (ANI): While addressing the status update on coronavirus pandemic in the country, the Health Ministry said that government is aware and planning things in being over prepared. "On March 29, we had 979 positive cases, now we've 8356 positive cases; of these 20% cases need ICU support. So, today also 1671 patients need oxygen support and critical care treatment. This figure is important to show that government is planning things in being over prepared," said Joint Secretary of Health Ministry, Lav Agarwal.
Guwahati (Assam), Apr 12 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal chaired an all-party meeting over COVID-19 situation in the state. Himanta Biswa Sarma and other ministers attended the meeting. Meeting was held in Guwahati on April 12. 29 cases of coronavirus including one death have been reported in the state.
New Delhi, Apr 12 (ANI): Director of Delhi AIIMS Randeep Guleria said that taking Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) can be harmful if taken without any prescription by a medical practitioner. "For the general public taking HCQ can be harmful, especially it can have cardiac toxicity, leading to irregular heartbeat, it should be taken only for those who it is be recommended for by the guidelines " said Randeep Guleria while talking to ANI. "Studies in China and France said that combination of HCQ and Azithromycin may be helpful if given to COVID-19 patients with moderate to severe illness. The data from the studies are not strong. Since, no other treatment is available, it was felt that it should be used," Randeep Guleria further added. It is said that hydroxychloroquine, an anti-malarial drug deemed to be useful in dealing with COVID-19.
