Jammu, Mar 17 (ANI): Nirmal Khanna, wife of Squadron Leader Ravi Khanna who was allegedly killed by Yasin Malik and his other accomplices at Rawalpora in 1990 expressed her hope that justice will be served and demanded daily hearings in the case. "Now, the trial has begun. There were attempts to suppress the case thirty years ago. I am hopeful that justice will be served. I believe in judiciary. I want that there should be daily hearings in the case. Those who had done this should get punishment I trust the judiciary, like people believe in God. I believe truth always triumphs," Nirmal told ANI. A special court in Jammu on Monday framed charges against Yasin Malik and six others in connection with a case related to the killing of Indian Air Force (IAF) officer Squadron Leader Ravi Khanna and three others in 1990. Rishikesh (Uttarakhand), Mar 17 (ANI): Amid the increasing number of deaths of elephants in the country, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Moradabad division installed honey bee sound system at railway tracks to prevent their deaths. Once an elephant herd is sighted, villagers at once inform the local staff about their presence, the buzzing sound is being played near the tracks to scare them away. "Till now the project has been a success," said the Divisional Railway Manager of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Moradabad division. Elephants have been long known to be frightened by the buzzing sound of bees and stings.

New Delhi, Mar 17 (ANI): Amid the spurt in cases of novel coronavirus in different parts of the world, a new study which suggests that the contagious virus does not transmit from pregnant mothers to newborns seems to be bringing some sigh of relief. Chinese professors report in the journal Frontiers in Pediatrics that it doesn't appear that the viral infection is transmittable from pregnant mothers to newborns at birth. The study is the second out of China within the last month to confirm that mothers infected with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) during pregnancy did not infect their babies. All four mothers in the current study, which focused on the health of the newborns, gave birth at Wuhan's Union Hospital while infected. Wuhan in Hubei Province is believed to be the epicenter of the current outbreak that has sickened more than 100,000 people worldwide and killed more than 3,400 -- most of them in China. None of the infants developed any serious symptoms associated with COVID-1

Rampur (Uttar Pradesh), Mar 17 (ANI): The Uttar Pradesh Police arrested an accused of Delhi riot from Rampur. Police officials told that he was arrested along with his group in a robbery case. Over 50 people lost their lives during the deadly Delhi riots. The violence broke out (on February 23, which continued for three days) between Citizenship (Amendment) Act supporters and the people who were against it. On March 11, the Home Minister Amit Shah had informed in Lok Sabha that around 300 people came from Uttar Pradesh to carry out the violence.

Speaking on it, DSGMC president, Manjinder Singh Sirsa said, "Every Sewadar has to wash hands for at least 20-30 seconds before entering the premises, every portion of Gurudwara is cleaned properly specially the railings. People who are preparing Langar (community meal) are advised on how to keep themselves clean before entering the premises. No foreigner is allowed who had not been in India from last 15 days. No food is allowed to be served outside the Gurudwara premises."
New Delhi, Mar 16 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices extended losses in the afternoon session on Monday as the spreading coronavirus pandemic continued to spook global markets. The number of virus positive cases climbed to 110 in India with fresh reports coming from Maharashtra and Odisha. The US Federal Reserve cut interest rates to near-zero a day earlier to help shore up the world's largest economy. But the move rather scared global investors more than cheering them as it reflected fear among US policy makers about the severe impact of the virus. The BSE S-P Sensex closed 2,713 points or 7.96 per cent lower at 31,390 while the Nifty 50 crashed by 756 points or 7.6 per cent to 9,199. All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the red with Nifty metal down by 8.9 per cent, private bank by 8.7 per cent, IT and realty by 8.2 per cent each and financial service by 7.9 per cent. New Delhi, Mar 16 (ANI): The petition filed by one of the death row convicts Mukesh in 2012 Delhi gang rape case, seeking action against his former lawyer Vrinda Grover, was ordered dismissed as withdrawn by the Supreme Court. Speaking on the development, Nirbhaya's mother Asha Devi said, "I have been following the law since past 7 years. I believe that I will get justice on March 20. These people (convict) don't trust the system, or the government or the President. They change and target everyone's decision. I believed that petition will be dismissed and they will be hanged on March 20." "The petition is not maintainable," Justice Mishra said and dismissed the petition. The convicts are scheduled to be executed on March 20.

"I would like to convey to the depositors of Yes Bank that their money is completely safe and there is nothing to worry. "India is not immune to this pandemic, already more than 100 cases have been reported. Efforts are being mounted by the govt on war-footing. COVID-19 could impact India directly through trade channels, in which exposure to China is relatively high," the RBI Governor added.
