Coronavirus: Indian evacuees to be sent home if final samples found negative, says ITBP spokesperson

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): While talking on suspected coronavirus inmates at the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) facility at Chhawla camp in New Delhi, spokesperson Vivek Pandey informed that if the final samples will be found negative, then they will be sent home by next week. "ITBP facility in Chhawla camp is functional right now. Total 406 inmates are there, final sampling is being done. 249 samples were taken yesterday (February 13), 157 samples are being taken today (February 14). Reports will be received in 2-3 days. If the final reports of the tests are found negative, then they will be sent home by next week." The Indian nationals, who were brought to India from China's Wuhan in the middle of novel coronavirus outbreak in the country, have been quarantined at the ITBP facility at Chhawla camp in Delhi for past 12 days.

Now, you can throw a party in Noida metro

Noida (UP), Feb 14 (ANI): Now onwards, people can throw a party in Noida metro coaches. As per Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) announcement, people can now book Aqua line coaches for birthday parties, pre-wedding and other similar celebrations. Managing Director of Noida Metro Rail Corporation Ritu Maheshwari said, "Noida Metro Rail Corporation has introduced new facility for commuters in which a coach or complete metro can be booked at Rs 5,000-10,000/hr package to have official or personal events. The decision has been taken to increase metro's viability and to give better facilities." However, people have mixed views over this new move.

Kasdol (Chhattisgarh), Feb 14 (ANI): Congress MLA Shakuntala Sahu and trainee IPS officer Ankita Sharma entered into a verbal spat in Chhattisgarh's Kasdol. Have full faith in judiciary: Omar Abdullah's sister on plea challenging detention

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): Supreme Court heard plea of Sara Abdullah Pilot challenging detention of former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah under Public Safety Act, 1978. After the hearing of plea, Sara Abdullah said, "We were hopeful that, as this is a habeas corpus case, the relief would be sooner. But we have full faith in the justice system. We're here because we want that all Kashmiris should have the same rights as all citizen of India and we're waiting for that day." Supreme Court issued notice to JandK administration on the plea of Sara Abdullah Pilot. The Court asked JandK administration to file a reply by March 2. Omar Abdullah is detained under PSA after abrogation of Article 370 in August last year.

Portuguese President meets PM Modi in Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa on February 14 met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital. Both the leaders also witnessed exchange of agreements between the two countries. PM Modi and the Portuguese President also held extensive talks to deepen the bilateral relations between the two countries. Portuguese President is on a four-day state visit to India. President Rebelo de Sousa's last visit to India was in 2007.

Accused killed woman, her children with iron rod: Delhi Police on Bhajanpura murder case

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): With the arrest of an accused named Prabhu Nath, North East District of Delhi Police has solved a blind murder case of a family of five. A PCR call was received at Bhajanpura Police Station that a foul smell was emanating from a house in the area. Upon receiving the information, a police team rushed to the spot, and found 5 decomposed dead bodies, of house occupants lying inside the house. In this regard, a case was registered at Bhajanpura Police Station, and investigation was taken up. During the investigation, CCTV footages of the areas were checked thoroughly and it was revealed through one of the footages that the accused had entered the house of the deceased. Subsequently, the suspect was apprehended and interrogated at length. He disclosed that he borrowed 30,000 rupees from Shambhu Chaudhary and had disbursed the same in the market for obtaining an interest amount. Delhi Police Crime Branch succeeds in extraditing bookie Sanjeev Chawla from UK

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has succeeded in bringing back the fugitive Sanjeev Chawla, from London after 20 years. Chawla was wanted in the infamous cricket match fixing case of year 2000. In the year 1999, Anti-Extortion Cell of Crime Branch was investigating an extortion case. During investigation, it was revealed that some persons were conspiring to fix the India-South Africa Cricket Test Series to be played in the months of February-March, 2000 in connivance with the Captain of South African Cricket team Hansie Cronje. During the investigation, the three accused persons namely Rajesh Kalra, Krishan Kumar and Sunil Dara alias Bittoo were arrested. Accused Sanjeev Chawla was actively involved in the said case but had left India. Accused Sanjeev Chawla absconded and was hiding in UK since then.

Gujarat college girl students asked to remove innerwear to prove they weren't menstruating

Bhuj (Gujarat), Feb 14 (ANI): 68 girl students of Shree Sahajanand Girls Institute (SSGI) in Gujarat's Bhuj were reportedly asked to remove their innerwears to prove that they were not menstruating. However, the Dean said that the matter was related to hostel and had nothing to do the university rules. "Matter is related to hostel, it has nothing to do with University/College. Everything happened with girls' permission, nobody was forced for it. Nobody touched them. Still, inquiry team formed to look into the matter," said Darshana Dholakia, Dean of Shree Sahajanand Girls Institute.

Nirbhaya case: SC dismisses plea of death-row convict Vinay Kumar Sharma

Bengaluru Police busts gang involved in cheating through online marketplaces

Bengaluru, Feb 14 (ANI): Commissioner of Police of Bengaluru, Bhaskar Rao informed that 5 people have been arrested for fraud in online marketplaces. He said, "We registered 316 cases for cheating through online marketplaces last year. We've busted a gang operating from Rajasthan's Bharatpur and arrested 5 people. They are responsible for 200 out of 316 cases. We are questioning the accused."

Equity indices gain on Asian cues, Yes Bank in focus

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): Equity benchmark gauges were in the positive zone during early hours on Friday taking cues from Asian markets with buying in banking and technology stocks. At 10:15 am, the BSE SandP Sensex edged higher by 74 points to 41,534 while the Nifty 50 ticked up by 21 points at 12,196. All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the green with Nifty PSU bank and IT up by 0.7 per cent each. Among stocks, Yes Bank added gains of 6.4 per cent at Rs 39.60 per share after the troubled private sector lender said it has received nonbinding expressions of interest from several prominent investors. Tata Motors was up by 3.5 per cent at Rs 175.40 while UPL advanced by 2 per cent at Rs 590.85. The other prominent gainers were Grasim, UltraTech Cement, Asian Paints, Bharat Petroleum Corporation and HCL Technologies.

Nation remembers bravehearts of Pulwama attack

New Delhi, Feb 14 (ANI): The country is remembering sacrifice of bravehearts who lost their lives in gruesome Improvised Explosive Device (IED) terror attack in Pulwama on Feb 14, 2019. Prominent figures and twitter users paid homage to valorous jawans. A year back on this day, India shed tears after over 40 CRPF personnel were killed after their convoy was targeted by suicide bomber of Pakistan-backed terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). Nationwide protests erupted against the horrific attack even as the country bid goodbye to its bravehearts. Following the dastardly attack, India retaliated by launching air strike and bombing JeM camps located in PoK's Balakot. Savarkar's grandson to file defamation suit against Maharashtra Cong

Mumbai, Feb 14 (ANI): Veer Savarkar's grandson Ranjit Savarkar to file a defamation suit of Rs 100 crore against the Maharashtra Congress Committee in the Bombay High Court. "Maharashtra Congress has published articles against Savarkar to assassinate his character. I appeal the Chief Minister to take action.
