New Delhi, Jan 24 (ANI): Captain Tania Shergill, first woman parade adjutant for the Republic Day parade expressed happiness over leading the parade and stated that the selection was done irrespective of our gender. "Selection happened at our signals training camp about a year ago. 2 officers were selected then, to lead the contingent on Army Day parade as well as Republic Day parade. I feel good to lead it but at the end of the day it is our duty to be truthful to the uniform we are wearing. Selection happened irrespective of our gender," said Captain Tania Shergill.

Violence erupts during pro CAA, NPR rally led by VHP in Jharkhand's Lohardaga

Lohardaga (Jharkhand), Jan 24 (ANI): Violence erupted in Jharkhand's Lohardaga town after a march in support of Citizenship Amendment Act and National Population Register was held on January 23. The support rally was led by Vishva Hindu Parishad. Stone pelting allegedly took place while rally passed through Amla Toli in Lohardaga. Shops, houses and trucks were set on fire. Fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the flames. Section 144 has been imposed in Lohardaga town.

Women cab drivers take charge to make Delhi women feel safer

New Delhi, Jan 24 (ANI): At the Indira Gandhi International Airport here is an exclusive 'Women with wheels,' taxi service that is unique as it is operated by women drivers, for women. The service is an initiative by 'Sakha cabs' and was launched from the international airport from January 10 in a bid to make women feel safer. The cabs are driven by women drivers and the services are also provided to only female commuters. Speaking about the initiative, Arvind Vadera, CEO of Sakha Consulting Wings Pvt Ltd told ANI, "On this concept, we have been working for last 10 years with the name of Sakha cabs, all the women drivers have been trained by our own organisation (Azad foundation). We trained them in driving, self-defence, personality development and English speaking for eight months. Once they completed their training, we gave them employment." Taking all preventive measures, no need to panic, says Kerala Health Minister on coronavirus

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Jan 24 (ANI): Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja said that all preventive measures were being taken in view of coronavirus threat and there is no need to panic in the state. Speaking to reporters, she said, "We are taking all preventive measures in all the districts here. We are paying attention to all symptoms. If any positive cases occur, we will shift them to isolation wards. There is no need to panic." The Health Secretary Preeti Sudan on Wednesday informed that as on January 22, as many as 12,828 passengers from 60 flights have been screened for novel coronavirus symptoms, and no passenger has been detected in India so far.

He requested from the government either to give him medical treatment or grant euthanasia as he has no one to look after him. While speaking on the matter, DM Banda, Hira Lal said, "He doesn't have any documents so he couldn't avail any govt facility. SDM has sent the form to make his voter id card, and as soon as his voter id is ready, we'll make his Aadhaar card and disability certificate. Then, he will be able to avail all the facilities."

People coming from China will go through screening for coronavirus outbreak: MEA

New Delhi, Jan 23 (ANI): Ministry of External Affairs on January 23 announced that anybody coming to India from China will have to go through the screening process for coronavirus outbreak. MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said that advisory has been issued by Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and India's consulates in China. He said, "People coming from China will have to go through screening process (at airports). As far as protecting oneself while living in China is concerned, our Missions have made an effort for this there. But if you come to India you will have to go through the screening process." India screened 43 flights arriving from China at 7 different airports so far, secretary at Union Health Ministry informed on January 23.
