Hapur (UP), Dec 30 (ANI): A fire broke out in chemical factory in Uttar Pradesh's Hapur on December 30. Fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the flames. No injuries have been reported so far. Further investigation is underway. More details are awaited.
New Delhi, Dec 30 (ANI): Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) joint secretary Rajan Manchanda on scuffle during Annual General Meeting said that he will write to BCCI to appoint an observer and not to release any fund until BCCI doesn't submit report on the incident. "I will write to BCCI demanding to appoint an observer or administrator and not release any fund until BCCI's fact finding committee doesn't submit a report on the incident," said DDCA Joint Secretary.
Nagpur (Maharashtra), Dec 30 (ANI): Indian Navy banned usage of smartphones and social media for personnel at naval bases and warships. It came after 7 naval personnel were caught leaking sensitive information to Pakistani Intelligence after being honey trapped. Speaking on it, defence expert Shivali Deshpande said, "Leaking out sensitive information of the forces is a very big offence and that is why the Indian Navy has banned the use of social media and smartphones for the naval personnel who are on boatships or warships and those who are also working elsewhere. It is a very good step taken by Indian Navy because what happens is that usually young officers have tendency of putting their photographs in uniform and making themselves vulnerable to the enemy and that is why the enemy, whosoever, track these people and then you have honey traps that you have heard of and plus the other ways used by the enemy use. Kolkata, Dec 30 (ANI): West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar attended a cultural festival in Kolkata. Speaking at the event, Governor said that he had written a letter to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee concerning violence in educational institutes. He said, "I was disturbed by the news of violence in educational institutes. I wrote a letter to respected Chief Minister saying if you don't pay attention to these issues, we will take coming generations down. This is not fair. She wrote me back within 24 hours. She said that Education Minister Partha Chatterjee will dicuss the matter with me." West Bengal has witnessed violent protests against Citizenship (Amendment) Act.

Purulia (West Bengal), Dec 30 (ANI): Continuing her strike against Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held yet another protest rally in WB's Purulia. Addressing the demonstrators, Banerjee said, "India is for us. BJP doesn't have right to throw out someone. Our movement will continue for this purpose. Everybody will work together and live together with respect." Condemning the Centre's viewpoint on students' countrywide protest against CAA, Banerjee added, "When elections take place, our students vote. They can make Prime Minister after voting, but can't express their opinion? What democracy is that?"

Police official said, "A case has already been registered by the police, so new FIR cannot be registered. Their complaint will be made a part of the investigation." Protest against Citizenship Amendment Act turned violent in Bijnor on December 20. The kin alleged that deceased was picked when they went out to pray, and was later shot by police.

New Delhi, Dec 30 (ANI): In an interaction with ANI, political strategist Prashant Kishor said that National Register of Citizens (NRC) is a subset of National Population Register (NPR). He said, "Nobody needs to prove link between NPR and NRC, documents speak for themselves and they state that NPR is the first step of NRC. This debate is linked to Citizenship Amendment Bill of 2003 during which, it was defined that after NPR, if government wishes, they can do NRC. NRC is a subset of NPR. And the implementation is up to the government and it is a different thing."
