Watch: Woman brutally thrashed by stick in Gurugram

Gurugram (Haryana), Dec 05 (ANI): A woman was brutally thrashed by stick in Gurugram over property dispute. Man was later arrested by police. Injured woman was admitted to District Civil Hospital. "Case has been registered against the attacker and we will take appropriate action," said Gurugram ACP Preet Pal. "She received grave injuries in attack and the man behind this act also called and threatened me," said victim's husband.

P Chidambaram arrives at Parliament

New Delhi, Dec 05 (ANI): Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP, P Chidambaram arrived at Parliament on Dec 05. P Chidambaram was yesterday granted bail by Supreme Court in the INX Media money laundering case registered by the Enforcement Directorate. He was sent to Tihar Jail in connection with the case and got bail after 106 days. Supreme Court has restrained him from giving press interviews or making any public comment in connection with the case.

Study explores relationship between obesity and gum disease

New Delhi, Dec 05 (ANI): A new study explores how the most common non-communicable diseases, Obesity and gum (periodontal) might be related to each other. It also highlights the effect of obesity on non-surgical periodontal care. The study was published in 'British Dental Journal.' The connection between obesity and gum disease isn't as simple as cause-and-effect, said Andres Pinto, co-author of the study at the Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine. Instead, the relationship centers on what both diseases have in common: inflammation. Examining a large number of existing studies, researchers found that data showing increased body mass index, waist circumference and percentage of body fat to be associated with an increased risk to develop gum disease, also known as periodontitis. Shimla man seeks appointment as executioner in Tihar to hang Nirbhaya gang-rape case convicts

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), Dec 05 (ANI): A social activist from the city has offered his services as a temporary executioner in Tihar jail, New Delhi so that justice may be given to the perpetrators of the 2012 Delhi gang-rape case. Ravi Kumar said he has written a letter to President Ram Nath Kovind seeking his appointment on a temporary basis, as currently there is no executioner in the Tihar jail. "Appoint me executioner. So the Nirbhaya case convicts can be hanged soon and her soul rests in peace," he said. The social activist added that he was troubled by the rising instances of rape in the country. "It has been seven years and such incidents are increasing across the country. It is painful to hear the news about rape case in Telangana and also Kotkhai rape case of Shimla," he said. "I want to set an example. I am sure this will reduce the rape cases by 50 per cent after these convicts are hanged. Onions leave customers teary-eyed in Patna

Patna (Bihar), Dec 04 (ANI): Onion prices remain high across the major cities of the country. The prices of the onions have reached Rs 100/kg in Bihar's Patna. Several budget hotels have also stopped the usage of onions in food preparations. To control the rising prices, the government is importing 11,000 tonnes from Turkey. Speaking to ANI, a customer said, "The whole budget of our house has been affected." Another disappointed customer said, "The prices have reached sky, it is being said the price might increase and reach Rs 120 per kg."
