Mumbai, Oct 01 (ANI): Veteran theatre and film actor Viju Khote passed away at the age of 77 in Mumbai on September 30. The actor is best known for the role of Kalia in 'Sholay' and Robert in 'Andaz Apna Apna'. While speaking to ANI on Viju Khote's demise, actor Sachin Pilgaonkar said, "Viju Khote has contributed in Hindi as well as Marathi film industry. He has worked in several films directed by me and it's a great loss for all of us. Though, he has played different kind of negative roles but in real life he was a simple man." Meanwhile, actress Amruta Khanvilkar said, "When youngsters like us work in the industry we always think if, we can corporate even 2% of their overall work then that will be really great."
Madurai (Tamil Nadu), Oct 01 (ANI): A law aspirant from Tamil Nadu's Madurai has been invited to Human Rights Council Social Forum at Geneva. The Human Rights Council Social Forum will be held in Geneva from today. Premalatha will address the forum at screening of 'A Path to Dignity: The Power of Human Rights Education', a documentary in which she was being featured in 2012. The social forum is an annual meeting convened by the Human Rights Council. While speaking to ANI, Premalatha said, "The opportunity is a pleasure for me. There are many castes in our country and we don't want these castes." "I will use this opportunity and speak to United Nations. I want to study law but I have been denied this opportunity many times. New Delhi, Oct 01 (ANI): Air Marshal Harjit Singh Arora, who has been appointed as Vice Chief of the Air Staff received guard of honour at Indian Air Force headquarters in the national capital. He succeeded Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria who is now the Chief of the Air Staff. Air Marshal HS Arora also paid his tribute at the National War Memorial. Air Marshal HS Arora was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as a fighter pilot in December 1981.
Mysuru (Karnataka), Oct 01 (ANI): A 60-year-old woman wolfed down six idlis in a mere minute, securing the first position in an idli eating competition in Karnataka's Mysuru. The idli eating competition was held on the occasion of Mysuru Dasara here. The competition was held especially for women in Mysuru Dasara and they had to chomp down as many idlis as they can in a minute. The elderly woman named Sarojamma is a resident of Hullahalli. Mysuru Dasara (Dussehra) is the official state festival of Karnataka and is celebrated for 10 days. It begins with Navaratri festival and concludes on Vijayadashami, the day celebrated as the victory of good over evil across the country. During the festival, the city is beautified. The famous Mysuru Palace is lit up with 100,000 light bulbs, making for a stunning sight.

Malda (West Bengal), Oct 01 (ANI): Following incessant rainfall in the region, water has entered inside West Bengal's Malda Medical College and Hospital on September 30. Rains triggered waterlogging in several wards of the hospital which mainly affected male medical, female medical, emergency service and operation theatre. The water from the drains carrying garbages are overflowing in the hospital. Hospital staff and nurses were seen providing medical services after fighting with rain-water. Many patients were also seen sharing a single bed after water entered the respective wards. Many doctors are allegedly not visiting the patients under these circumstances. While speaking to ANI, a patient said, "The rains waterlogged several wards of the hospital. Three to four patients are staying on a single bed. I have discharged myself at my own risk after facing such problems here."
Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu), Oct 01 (ANI): Ahead of Air Force Day, the Indian Air Force (IAF) organised an air show and display of their fighter aircrafts in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore on September 30. IAF also displayed their helicopters and weapons at Sulur Air Force Station near Coimbatore. Air Force Day will be celebrated on October 8. New Delhi, Oct 01 (ANI): Gym owners in Delhi have cried foul after Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committees ordered sealing of all gyms, fitness centres, yoga and meditation centres, in residential areas of Delhi that started operating after August 12, 2008. "The order says that the gyms should be in malls and DDA markets. Only 5 per cent of gyms are in malls and DDA markets while the rest are in the residential areas. People came here for staying fit and fine. Putting a ban on gyms is like working against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Fit India movement," said Paras a gym trainer. "The SC order is not right. We are here to fit our body," a fitness enthusiast said. The Delhi Gym Association has decided to approach Top Court against the order. As per the order, the sealing of such gyms and fitness centres should be completed by October 18 and report forwarded to the monitoring committee by October 22.
Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Oct 01 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Ram Madhav on detention of political leaders in Jammu and Kashmir said that they have been accommodated in luxury hotels and houses. "Today in JandK only 200-250 people are under preventive detention in view of the law and order," said Madhav. "They've been kept under preventive detention respectfully, some in five-star guest houses, some in five-star hotels," he added. New Delhi, Oct 01 (ANI): Red meat hasn't been receiving good press lately and now a new study has found that halving the amount of red meat in the diet can reduce the amount of bad cholesterol in the blood further reducing the risk of developing heart disease. Red and processed meat (RPM) include fresh pork, beef, lamb and veal and meats that have been smoked, cured or preserved (other than freezing) in some way. These meats are typically high in saturated fatty acids which cause an increase in LDL cholesterol. This is the "bad" cholesterol that collects in the walls of blood vessels, where it can cause blockages and raise the chance of a heart attack. Increasing awareness of the risks associated with eating red and processed meat has led to a growing number of people adopting vegetarian and vegan diets, which cut out meat completely. On mobile, simply navigate to a podcast episode you want to listen to, tap on the three dots and then on 'Add to playlist'. Users can choose to add to an existing playlist or create a new playlist from scratch. These custom playlists can also be shared with friends or made public. The feature to create podcast playlists is currently supported only on a mobile.
