8 arrested for drinking liquor during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Gujarat

Gujarat (Surat), Sep 04 (ANI): At least eight people were arrested for drinking liquor at a 'pandal' during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mahidharpura, Surat. Police official said, "Case registered under Gujarat Prohibition Act and other relevant sections. All accused have been arrested."

Traffic police issues challan of Rs 16,000 to scooter rider in Haryana's Kaithal

Kaithal (Haryana), Sep 04 (ANI): After taking as heavy as Rs 23,000 challan from a Grugram man, Kaithal traffic police slapped a challan of Rs 16,000 to a scooty driver on September 3. The offender had no documents of his scooty and that is why he was penalized with this much amount. His scooty has also been impounded. Higher penalties for traffic violations came into effect from September 01 after the implementation of provisions of the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019.

PM Narendra Modi is in Russia as the chief guest of the 5th Eastern Economic Forum. PM Modi will also take part in the 20th India-Russia Annual Summit and hold bilateral talks with President Vladimir Putin. During the visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in which the two leaders will discuss bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest. Following this, the two sides will sign agreements in the fields of defence, trade, investments, industrial cooperation, energy and connectivity corridors.

New Delhi, Sep 04 (ANI): Chinese Ambassador to India, Sun Weidong said that Hong Kong affairs are purely China's internal affairs and this is a fact recognised internationally. There is no sovereignty issue over Hong Kong at all. We will not let any external forces to interfere in Hong Kong affairs or draw parallel to other issues. "Some external forces meddled with China's internal affairs and are deliberating calling violent crimes as peaceful protest. This is an outright double standard," he further added. Sun Weidong, made this statement while addressing the public gathering in New Delhi. The 2019 Hong Kong anti-extradition bill protests are a series of demonstrations in Hong Kong and solidarity protests in other cities which began with the aim of withdrawing an extradition bill proposed by the Hong Kong government.

DK Shivakumar has been arrested by Enforcement Directorate under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Earlier, supporters of Congress leader gathered outside the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office. DK Shivakumar alleged that IT and ED cases against him are politically motivated.

Facebook doesn't want to show you like counts

New Delhi, Sep 04 (ANI): After Instagram, Facebook is reportedly testing a feature that hides like counts on posts. App analyst Jane Manchun Wong wrote in her blog that Facebook has started prototyping the hidden like/reaction count feature in its Android app. The purpose behind hiding the like count is to prevent users from feeling anxious over how their posts are received. The unreleased feature hides the like/reaction count from everyone except the creator of the post, similar to how the feature works on Instagram. The likes/ reaction counts on comments are not hidden for now. However, if the feature is rolled out fully, it may also hide that count.

Woman brutally beaten up in MP's Alirajpur

Alirajpur (MP), Sep 04 (ANI): A video went viral in Alirajpur district in which a group of men can be seen thrashing a woman. The woman was being made to walk down a village and was beaten up. She can be seen screaming in the viral video. However, the police said that they have not received any complaint regarding the matter and is looking out for the woman. "We got the video through WhatsApp. Some people told us that the video is from Alirajpur's Temachi village. We are looking for the victim who was seen in the video. We have not received any complaint regarding this matter. We are examining the authenticity of the video," Superintendent of Police Vipul Srivastava told reporters here.

DK Shivakumar admitted in RML, Congress leaders allege 'mental harassment'

New Delhi, Sep 04 (ANI): Speaking on the arrest of Congress leader DK Shivakumar, Karnataka Congress, MLC, Rizwan Arshad said, "ED officials have brought him here. His medical examination is underway. Probably doctors have adviced to bring his BP in control, that's why he has been temporarily admitted in hospital. Whenever doctors declare him fit, he will leave with ED officials." Youth Congress president, Sriniwas said, "His health has gotten worse because of the harassment he has been subjected to. These people have done it deliberately with political intent. Doctors have adviced him to stay here in hospital" Congress Leader DK Shivakumar got arrested on September 03 by Enforcement Directorate (ED). He has been arrested by the agency under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Blueberry consumption good for heart: Study

New Delhi, Sep 04 (ANI): Eating 150 grams of blueberries daily reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease by up to 15 per cent, claim researchers. The research team from UEA's Department of Nutrition and Preventive Medicine, Norwich Medical School, said that blueberries and other berries should be included in dietary strategies to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease - particularly among at-risk groups. It's widely recognised that lifestyle changes, including making simple changes to food choices, can also help, reported the study published in the journal, 'The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.' This may be because blueberries are high in naturally occurring compounds called anthocyanins, which are the flavonoids responsible for the red and blue colour in fruits. Man pays Rs 23,000 challan to Gurugram Traffic Police

New Delhi, Sep 03 (ANI): Dinesh Madan has been charged with Rs 23,000 as challan by Gurugram Traffic Police. He said, "I wasn't wearing helmet and didn't have Registration Certificate (RC).Traffic Police asked me to give him my scooty's key but I denied. Immediately he printed a challan of Rs 23,000 and seized my vehicle. Value of my scooty is around Rs. 15,000. I even got a copy of RC on Whatsapp from home but by then he had printed challan. The amount could have been less if he would have waited for a while. I want that fine should be relaxed. From now on, I will always carry my documents." Earlier, the Ministry of Road Transport notified the provisions of the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act 2019. The MVAwas implemented from September 01.

14 Eklavya schools to be launch in Jharkhand: Raghubar Das

Arrest warrant issued against Mohammed Shami, wife Hasin Jahan thanks judiciary

Kolkata, Sep 03 (ANI): After an arrest warrant was issued against cricketer Mohammed Shami in a domestic violence case. His estranged wife Hasin Jahan reacted on court's order and thanked the almighty and Indian judiciary for giving her justice. "I am thankful to Allah and the Indian Judiciary, which proved that law is same for all. I have been fighting for over 1.5 years, I got disappointed some times," said Jahan. Jahan also urged the court to consider her alimony so that she can live her life easily with her child. An arrest warrant was issued on September 3 against cricketer Mohammed Shami in a domestic violence case registered against him by his estranged wife. He has 15 days to surrender, according to a court in Kolkata's Alipore.
