Pune (Maharashtra), Sep 03 (ANI): A devotee offered massive 151-kg 'modak' to lord Ganesha in Pune. City is dipped in festive mood of Ganesh Chaturthi. Sweet shops are stacked with varieties of modaks. Modaks in chocolate, pista, blueberry, malai flavours are attracting devotees this year. Modak are available in different sizes ranging from 25 gm to 150 kg. While speaking to ANI, owner of a sweet shop said, "We have prepared 11 to 12 types of Modak. We have different types of modak to sell our customers. People demand mawa modak more." The annual festival, which marks the birthday of Lord Ganesha is celebrated with much fervour across western and southern India.
Ajmer (Rajasthan), Sep 03 (ANI): Last rites of Grenadier Hemraj Jat were performed with full military honours in Rajasthan's Kishangarh on September 03. He lost his life in ceasefire violation by the Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch sector on September 01. Army officials paid homage to the departed soldier.
Gurugram (Haryana),Sep 03 (ANI): Former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Ajit Jogi slammed state Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel over his son Amit Jogi's arrest over allegation of cheating. Lambasting Baghel he alleged that the Chhattisgarh CM is using law and order into his hands. "Bhupesh Baghel has lost his composure, he thinks that Chhattisgarh police is above the judiciary. Three months back, Chhattisgarh High Court debunked all the allegations on Amit Jogi." He said. "Baghel is scared that my participant is submitting his nomination from Dantewada and he is going to lose the election from there," Jogi added. Amit Jogi has been accused of lying on his election affidavit about his birthplace. Amit Jogi was arrested from his house in Bilaspur today.
Kanpur (UP), Sep 03 (ANI): Vikas Srivastava, a coaching institute director in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur has a collection of over 700 idols of Lord Ganesha. He has been collecting the idols since his childhood. While speaking to ANI, he said, "I have been collecting these idols since I was a kid. I buy one idol in the first week of every month; I have collected idols from all over the country."

Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh), Sep 03 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Police on Tuesday arrested Amit Jogi from his residence in Bilaspur. Amit Jogi is the son of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi. Police arrested him in a case of alleged cheating and furnishing false details in his affidavit in the 2013 assembly election. Further details are awaited. While speaking to mediapersons, a police official said, "It is the matter of 2013 assembly election. For the time of nomination he filled false details in his affidavit."
New Delhi, Sep 03 (ANI): Delhi Commissioner of Police Amulya Patnaik inaugurated DCP Office Complex, Outer-North District at PS Samaypur Badli. The complex will house all modern facilities including visitor's lounge and a conference hall with equipments like PA system and projector. There are also mess and canteen facilities for the staff. Speaking on the occasion, Delhi CP said that the purpose of establishing outer-north district was to enhance police strength and visibility in this strategically significant area. It has yielded desired results as crime graph has gone down. He appreciated public cooperation through Prahari, Police Mitra and other community policing initiatives, which work as force multipliers. Mobile Picketing Van was also launched on this occasion.
Guwahati (Assam), Sep 03 (ANI): Teachers and junior doctors of Guwahati Medical College Hospital staged a protest against the killing of 73-year-old Dr Deben Dutta in Teok tea garden in Jorhat district. Several medical services have been put at halt. Dr Dutta was allegedly beaten to death by a tea garden worker's family along with some others after the worker died during treatment at a hospital in Teok Tea Garden.

A hoarding was put up by JDU which boldly states 'Kyun kare vichar, thike to hai Nitish Kumar' (Why give a second thought, Nitish Kumar is perfect). While speaking to ANI, JDU leader Sanjay Singh said, "The slogan represented the voice of 12 crore residents of Bihar, there is no vacancy for the post of Chief Minister in the state." Navi Mumbai (Maharashtra), Sep 03 (ANI): A massive fire broke out at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) plant in Uran, Navi Mumbai. Three Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel died while trying to douse the fire. One ONGC worker also died in the incident. "A blast took place during firefighting operation due to which three CISF personnel sacrificed their lives on the line of duty," said ONGC Mumbai Commandant Lalit S Jha.
Pathankot (Punjab), Sep 03 (ANI): Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa addressed mediapersons to give a brief about the induction of Apache AH-64E choppers at Pathankot Air Base on September 03 in Punjab. While addressing the mediapersons, Dhanoa said, "Apache helicopter is an advanced multi-mission helicopter that is being operated worldwide by US, UK, Israel and many numbers of countries. It is one of the most fierce attack helicopters in the world along with the capability to shoot, fire and forget. It has air to air missile capability. That's why also gives an air to air mission with a helicopter which is for the first time in the history of India Air Force (IAF). Today with the induction of Apache Ah-64E, the Indian Air Force has upgraded its inventory to the latest generation of attack helicopter."
Pathankot (Punjab), Sep 03 (ANI): In a major boost to the Indian Air Force, eight Boeing AH-64E Apache Guardian Attack helicopters were inducted on September 03 at Punjab's Pathankot Air Base. While speaking to ANI, President of Boeing India, Salil Gupte said, "These are the first 8 of the 22 Apache helicopters that are coming to India Air Force. These are the AH-64E variant, the same variant used by the US Army. These Apache helicopters have the latest technology." Indian Air Force had signed contract with Boeing Ltd for 22 helicopters in 2015.
New Delhi, Sep 03 (ANI): Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan cycled to attend a yoga event from his residence to Hotel Hyatt Regency in Delhi on September 03. He attended Day 2 event of 72nd session of WHO Regional Office for South-East Asia (SEARO). He also took part in yoga session there. Delegates from other countries also participated in the event. WHO South East Asia region has 11 member states including Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal. While speaking to mediapersons on the event, Harsh Vardhan said, "The important component of this meeting is that all the delegates and health ministers of this region should take part in physical activities. After this yoga session, we'll go for cycling together. It is very clear that performing physical activity in any form be it yoga, sports, cycling or running leads to healthy body."
Dimapur (Nagaland), Sep 03 (ANI): As many as 900 students from various educational institutions in Kohima and Dimapur have joined other cities across the country in the attempt to create a world record of 'Largest Robotic KIT making training'. The organiser of the event All India Council for Robotics and Automation (AICRA) is set to apply for Guinness World Records World Record India (WRI) and Limca Book of Record - for 'Largest Robotic KIT making training (multiple locations).' The event was held on August 31. From Dimapur, more than 500 students participated in the event held at two places of the city- Holy Cross Higher Secondary School and St Mary's School. The programme was conducted by AICRA in eleven locations across the country. The training included the assembling the different parts of robots and programming them to follow the command.

Kolkata (WB), Sep 03 (ANI): In a welcome break from the usual news of political rivalry from the state, West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh and party leaders Arvind Menon and Mukul Roy arrived as chief guests at the Ganesh Puja hosted by TMC MLA Sabyasachi Dutta in WB's Kolkata on September 02. The three BJP leaders along with Dutta conducted puja at the pandal in the Salt Lake area on Monday. The Trinamool MLA who had just last month resigned from the post of Bidhannagar Mayor is said to be close to Roy. Roy himself was a TMC MP and had served as the Railway Minister in the UPA-II government. He joined BJP in 2017 after resigning from the Rajya Sabha and severing ties with his old party. The arrival of Roy along with other top party leaders at the event hosted by Dutta is being seen as a sign that the incumbent MLA from Rajarhat-New Town will soon jump the ship to join BJP.
Rajouri (J-K), Sep 03 (ANI): Irmim Shamim became the first Gujjar woman to qualify for medical studies at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district. She cleared the MBBS AIIMS entrance exam in June. She was felicitated by Army for her achievement on Sep 02.
