Iwaki City (Japan), Oct 04 (ANI): Two different Nissan manufacturing plants were raided by the Japan Transport Ministry officials on Wednesday as part of a probe into unauthorised vehicle inspections. The company has already called back millions of its cars due to Japanese recall. The Japanese multinational automobile manufacturer discovered this week that final inspections were being done by unauthorised technicians at several factories. The news led to mass recall. The re-inspection that has to be done will now need more than $200 million. While the inspection papers show names of certified technicians, the checks were being done by people who weren't officially qualified. The company is now conducting an investigation and the process will take about a month. The recall includes all the 386 thousand passenger vehicles that the company sold in Japan last year, which makes roughly 10 percent of its global sales.
Birgunj (Nepal), Oct 4 (ANI): Sanghiya Samajwadi Forum Nepal's Vijay Sarawagi has won the mayoral post at Birgunj metropolitan city in Parsa district. Sarawagi defeated Nepali Congress Ajay Dwibedi to win the post. The official announcement will be made shortly. Similarly, Shanti Karki won the deputy mayor post in the metropolitan. Puerto Rico (United States), Oct 04 (ANI): The United States President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump visited a disaster relief distribution center at Puerto Rico. Trump visited the island to reassure its struggling residents that he is committed to their recovery. The storm wiped out the island's power grid, and less than half of its residents have running water. It is still difficult to get a cell phone signal or find fuel for generators and cars. About 88 percent of cellphone sites are still out of service.

Simpson was released from the Nevada prison on Sunday, as shown in a video posted on the Facebook page of Nevada Department of Corrections. Nicknamed The Juice, Simpson had been held in the Nevada prison since 2008 for a botched armed robbery at a Las Vegas casino hotel. The Nevada Department of Corrections mentioned on their Facebook page that he had left shortly after midnight time. 70-year-old Simpson got freedom from a Nevada parole board in July at a hearing. The court did not take into account his 1990s trial for the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and a friend, Ron Goldman. Barcelona (Spain), Oct 01 (ANI): Hundreds of voters queued across Catalonia on Sunday, to vote in a banned independence referendum. Amid the loud applause and cheers that greeted voters in and out of the polling station, emotional scenes played out at Reina Violant school in the Barcelona neighbourhood of Gracia. The referendum has been declared illegal by Spain's central government. It has also raised fears of street violence as crowd took to streets to protest against the referendum. The Catalan government had scheduled voting to open at 9 a.m. at over 2,300 designated stations, but Madrid said it had shut more than half of them on Saturday. The region is inhabited by 7.5 million people, has its own language and culture and is an industrial hub with an economy larger than that of Portugal.
Barcelona (Spain), Oct 01 (ANI): Hundreds of people took to streets to demonstrate against the upcoming independence referendum. They marched through the central city on Saturday waving Spanish flags and holding placards reading 'Catalan is Spain'. The Catalan capital, Barcelona has been the site of several pro-independence rallies in the build up to Sunday's vote. Scores of Catalans are expected to vote today in a ballot that has been blocked by Spain's Constitutional Court and Madrid. The poll will be the region's second referendum in three years on independence.
Washington D.C (U.S.A), Oct 01 (ANI): Thousands of anti-racism marchers proved that the capital's summer of protests had not yet come to a close. Two separate rallies- the March for Racial Justice and the March for Black Women- converged in Lincoln Park. They marched in front of the Justice Department before descending on the National Mall to denounce institutionalised racism. The March for Racial Justice, which sought to harness the national unrest and help focus it into a national mobilisation, was organised after the acquittal of a Minnesota police officer in the death of Philando Castile. The March for Black Women was organised to bring attention to the widespread incarceration of black women, sexual violence and murders of black transgender people. The group held a morning rally of approx several hundred black women and allies before joining the racial justice protesters.
Iowa (United States), Sep 30 (ANI): A 30-year-old woman was arrested for leaving her four young kids home alone in Iowa, United States. The accused, Erin Macke, went on a 10-day European vacation while a 6-year-old, a 7-year-old, and 12-year-old twins were left locked inside the house. Acting on a tip off, the police discovered the four children inside the apartment and according to the authorities Macke wasn't planning on returning until October 1st. She eventually returned to the U.S. six days later. Her children were handed over to the state's Department of Human Services before being placed with relatives. She has been booked for child endangerment and is being held at the county jail. She has also been ordered not to have contact with her children.

Neelum Valley (PoK), Sep 30 (ANI): Residents of Falakun village of Neelum Valley in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) staged a protest against the Pakistan Army and its intelligence agencies by blocking a road in the area. The protestors raised the slogans like 'jine ka haq do' and demanding information about the whereabouts of people who have been made to disappear at the hands of the Pakistan Army. The protesters claimed that local youth are being abducted and tortured up by the army. They further claimed that the Pakistan Army has been employing pressure tactics on the local youth to cross into the Indian territory and indulge in acts of spying for them. The villagers also blamed the Pakistan Army of grabbing their lands in spite of showing proof of registration of property.

Kathmandu (Nepal), Sep 29 (ANI): A three-year-old girl Trishna has been named the new Kumari of Nepal's capital Kathmandu after her predecessor retired when she reached puberty, continuing an ancient tradition that sees young girls worshipped as 'living goddesses'. The ceremony took place on the eighth day of the two-week-long Dashain festival. She was among four final contestants from the Shakya clan for the position of living goddess, called Kumari. The 'Kanya' or Kumari Puja is a ritual of worshipping a girl aged between six and twelve years, symbolizing the Kanya Kumari (virgin) form of the Goddess Durga Devi. Hindu devotees perform the Kanya Puja in front of an idol of the Goddess Durga and believe that a Kanya is a living impersonation of the goddess.
California (United States), Sep 29 (ANI): Roads have been re-routed around the base of the towering El Capitan granite formation at the Yosemite National Park in California after a series of rock falls over two days killed one man and injured two others. The latest slide, which took place on Thursday afternoon, was the largest yet and injured one man, who was airlifted from Yosemite valley to a local hospital. The injured man's wife, Rachel Evans, said he was behind the wheel while they were driving through Yosemite when they saw a cloud of smoke.
Czech Republic, Sep 29 (ANI): A Czech brewery is getting high tech help from some little creatures. The Protivin brewery in Czech Republic has enlisted crayfish to monitor the purity of the spring water it uses to make beer. Placed in tanks that are pumped with the sourced water, the crayfish can react to low levels of pollution. They are fitted with infrared sensors that monitor their heartbeats and track their cardiac activity, while cameras monitor their movements.
