Rain throws normal life out of gear in Nepal's Eastern Saptari District

Saptari District (Nepal), July 8 (ANI): Normal life in the eastern district of Nepal's Saptari District has crippled because of the excessive rain that has led to floods. The incessant rainfall, which started in the last week of June, has submerged over 1,000 houses in various Village Committees and Municipalities of Saptari District. The Khado, Jita, Balan, Mahuli, Dudhaila Rivers has entered into the residential areas of Rajbiraj. The rainfall in weeks has waterlogged the area with the water level up to four feet. Excessive rainfall has led to shutting down of educational institutions for a week now. With more rain expected in the coming days, the residents living near rivers are moving to safer places.

Hamburg (Germany), July 08 (ANI): On the second day of the ongoing G20 summit in Germany's Hamburg on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was seen holding talks with British Prime Minister Theresa May on the sidelines of the summit. Earlier in the day, PM Modi held bilateral talks with various world leaders, including Norwegian PM Erna Solberg and Italian PM Paolo Gentiloni. He also received a gift from Solberg, a football, which represents the sustainable development goals for the world.

RJPN applies for registration with Election Commission

Kathmandu (Nepal) July 8, 2017 (ANI): Rashtriya janata party Nepal which has long been agitating against the government seeking a constitutional amendment to meet the Madheshi demands has applied for the registration with the election commission of Nepal. This was done under an obligation that a party should register itself within three months of its formation in the election commission to prove its authenticity. The step comes in line with the RJPN deciding to participate in the third phase slated to be held on 18th September following an assurance from the Deuba government about the fulfillment of its demands. The party did not participate in the first phase of the local polls held on 14th May and boycotted the second phase held on 28th June.

Haifa (Israel), July 06 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid tribute at the cemetery for Indian soldiers of World War 1, who laid down their lives during the liberation of Haifa in 1918. Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu also laid wreath at the cemetery. After paying their respects, PM Modi and PM Netanyahu unveiled a plaque commemorating World War 1 hero Major Dalpat Singh. Haifa Indian Cemetery is the final resting place for 44 Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives during World War I to liberate the city.

India, Israel ink 7 agreements in fields including space, technology, water and agriculture

Jerusalem (Israel), July 05 (ANI): India and Israel exchanged seven agreements in various fields on Wednesday. Among other agreements shared by the higher officials of both nations, three were in the field of space cooperation. Other Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) were inked in fields of water conservation, water utility reform in India, cooperation in Geo-Leo Optical Link, electric propulsion for small satellites, MoU for setting up of India-Israel Industrial Research and Development and Technological Fund and mutual cooperation in atomic clocks' sphere. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu were present during the signing of agreements. PM Modi is currently on a three-day visit to the Middle East nation.
