London, Nov 13 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the city of London at the Old Library in Guildhall on the first day of his UK visit. Modi confessed that he his visit to London has been delayed adding that he has been in constant touch with British PM David Cameron. Modi said that the relationship between India and UK will always remain special. Modi said that a strong Indian community in London pushes for better integration with Britain. The PM also stated that there is significant potential for India-UK to further strengthen their economic ties.

Karachi, Nov 12 (ANI): The Hindu community in Pakistan celebrated Diwali, the festival of lights, on Wednesday. In Karachi, around 400 Hindus attended a Diwali gathering at the illuminated and well decorated Swami Narayan Temple. The Hindu community attended Diwali prayers and festivities in full strength. Diwali, which falls in October or November, celebrates the return of King Rama' to his kingdom of Ayodhya after 14 years of self-exile and after his victory over the demon king Ravana. Legend says millions of lamps were lit when he returned. Diwali is also celebrated to honour Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity. It is believed that Lakshmi enters only those homes that are clean and well lit.

Karachi, Nov 12 (ANI): Nawaz Sharif attended an event to celebrate the Hindu festival of lights 'Diwali' in Karachi and sent out a strong message that he is the Prime Minister of every citizen in Pakistan, regardless of their religion. The function was organized by Pakistani Hindus residing in Karachi. Addressing the event, Sharif paid rich tributes to the services of Hindus, Sikhs, Christians and Parsis for Pakistan, and said the government would provide human rights to each and every citizen of the state, regardless of their religion and beliefs. Naypyitaw, Myanmar, Nov 09 (ANI): The head of the Union Election Commission in Myanmar, Tin Aye, on Monday started announcing the results of the country's first free national election in 25 years. The NLD party, which is led by opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi, has won all 12 parliamentary seats declared in the first round of results. The 12 seats, all in the country's largest city, Yangon, went to the National League for Democracy (NLD), Tin Aye told a news conference. The acting chairman of Myanmar's ruling party, Htay Oo, conceded defeat to the opposition and said he would accept the result. Although the election appears to have dealt a decisive defeat to the ruling party, a period of uncertainty still looms over the country because it is not clear how Suu Kyi will share power with the still-dominant military.
Yangon, Nov 06 (ANI): The election staff and volunteers in Yangon moved ballot boxes into classrooms on Friday to set up a polling station for the election November 8. After classes on Wednesday, the janitors swept the floors and moved desks to make way for ballot boxes and other equipments. The Election Commission representative for the Golden Valley Quarter 1 area, where National League for Democracy (NLD)'s leader Aung San Suu Kyi is registered, said that they were ready for the 4,000 registered voters. Late on Wednesday, the NLD held its last major rally in Yangon before the end of the campaigning on Thursday.
